The Kahana Reef complex will be repairing the seawall starting sometime in June 2018 through approximately October 2018. The seawall repair will most likely be loud work with heavy machinery. Work hours are Monday-Friday 8am-5pm but the heavy and loud work will not begin until after 9am. Part of the parking lot will be blocked off as well, but that should not pose a parking problem other than you may have to walk farther to the apartment than you otherwise would. The pool may or may not be off limits around June/July.

This private condominium at Kahana Reef offers sweeping, direct oceanfront views towards the islands of Lanai and Molokai. Tastefully renovated 1 bedroom, 1 bathroom suite. All renovations were completed in 2015. There is high quality porcelain tile throughout with oversized area rugs to make it comfortable on your feet. The bedroom has an upgraded plush Queen mattress and there is a queen size sofa sleeper in living room.

Fully equipped kitchen complete with everything including a coffee maker. Granite counter tops, custom cherry wood cabinetry and full size stainless steel appliances. Other extras include LED high definition TV, free long distance calling to U.S. and Canada and free high speed wireless internet. Watch whales, dolphins and turtles from the living room (seasonal).

1 Queen bed and 1 Queen sleeper sofa.

The view is absolutely stunning!

My wife and I were delighted in our selection of this property in Maui. It was conveniently located just a bit North of Lahina with plenty of things to do. We loved the sunsets and I can now say that I've witnessed a moonset on the Pacific Ocean. If we ever return to Maui, I will check with this owner/property first.

Excellent Stay!

This place is gorgeous! It's very clean, cleaner than most hotels we stayed. It's well furnished, with modern and comfortable home feeling. The interior was like brand new. Even though the condo is small, the space is well designed. The kitchen is nicely stocked, has everything we need, especially has lots of stainless and glass kitchenware, of course some sandwich contains as well for picnics. There are also bogie boards, beach chairs, noodles, and beach towels (make sure to check out closet drawers). Everyday, we enjoyed the ocean view just in front of our balcony. We watched whales, turtles, and paddle boarders every morning when we were having breakfast. The building itself is old, however, it's well-maintained and has elevator! Every morning the staff cleans the community quietly. Neighbors were very quiet, too.

Here are a few minor things that can be improved:

1. The large fry pan has lots of scratches. The non-stick material would leak out and cause cancer.

2. Some plastic utensils were melted during prior cook.

3. Tea kettle was rustic inside.

4. Screen door: I'm not sure how hot the unit would get. We felt pretty comfortable when we stayed. I just thought if it gets warmer, leaving the front but screen door open would bring in some draft breezes. To do that, the screen door needs to be more secured, having lock and more bars.

Anyway, those are all cosmetic things that didn't affect our stay much. We were super satisfied with the unit inside out.

We had a wonderful stay at this beautiful condo. It was centrally located for us. We whale watched, went to Kapalua Bay beach and shopped until we dropped in Lahaina. Would definitely come back.

Condo had all amenities needed for our 5 day stay.

A gorgeous gem for a tranquil Maui getaway

This property is such a gem. I visited Maui on a long weekend from the Bay Area, and after my trip I felt like I had been gone for weeks. It is absolutely worth the trip. This condo is in a quiet complex, just off the busy main roads, and most of the units are owner-occupied -- so it doesn't feel like your typical "tourist hangout" with crowds and partiers and lots of kids. I was able to peek into some other units while I was staying there, and this one is definitely a top pick. It has been remodeled and has a gorgeous kitchen, bathroom, bedroom, and furniture. Really feels elegant and tranquil and classy -- none of that 80s island kitsch that you sometimes find decorating beach vacation rentals. The balcony ("lanai") is literally a stone's throw from the ocean, so you can leave the screen door open at night and actually hear the waves from your bed. In the morning, we sat out on those comfy chairs, just enjoying the breeze and the spectacular view of Molokai with our coffee. (We also spotted huge sea turtles and whales!) The condo is a short drive from some of the island's most beautiful sandy beaches, like Ka'anapali, Kapalua, and Honolua Bay. You will definitely need a car at this place, but parking is easy and ample, and having your own wheels actually opens up a lot of great day trips from this location. In the evening, you can drive to any number of local resorts for sunset cocktails and dinner, or stop at the nearby grocery store and pick up fresh fish, sweet potatoes, and Maui onions to cook up in the condo's kitchen. Personally, we love to cook, so we appreciated having the option to shop local and make food in our own place (saves money, too!). But there's plenty to eat nearby - including an Italian place right across the street, and one of the island's hottest sushi places about a 5 min walk away. There's so much to love here - I could obviously go on and on gushing. But maybe I'll just book my next trip back instead... ;-)

GORGEOUS VIEWS, LOCAL VIBE, OCEANFRONT - Unit #319

I'm not big into the touristy resort scene, so I scoured Airbnb and VRBO for a more down-to-earth local vibe that still had top-line amenities and ocean access. We scored big with this unit, which is literally RIGHT ON THE WATER.

Every morning I made coffee in our kitchen (which had brand new stainless steel appliances and granite counter tops, mind you), sat out on the patio which jutted out over the ocean, and watched the insane turquoise waves. I walked barefoot downstairs and around the corner of the building right into the water, where I could swim or snorkel for hours. There's a little hose to rinse off too, a pool on the other side, laundry room, etc. Up the road about 5 minutes walking is a small grocery store and coffee shop, tons of other little beach coves within walking distance, and a local bar nearby. The owners of this condo keep it spotless and added nice little Hawaiian touches to make it feel authentic. There's a flat screen tv and the couch pulls out into a queen bed if you have kids or another couple staying with you. We checked it out and it seemed comfy. The whole condo feels brand new but very Maui. There's no A/C, but big ceiling fans worked nicely with the breezes coming in the patio sliding doors and windows. We even left the front door open and screen door shut at night for additional breeze. It's a super safe, quiet building.

This was absolute paradise and I can't recommend this spot enough. I feel like we hit the jackpot by avoiding all the crowded tourist beaches and having ocean access whenever we wanted, with amazing views from our private balcony.

Perfect Vacation Rental

My wife and I booked this for our honeymoon and couldn't be happier we did so. The place was very comfortable and had everything we needed, i.e. stove, microwave, dishwasher, etc. The balcony had beautiful, unrestricted views of the ocean. Every morning during breakfast, we ate on the balcony and watched whales breaching out of the water. The location of the condo is great and is close by all necessary towns to visit in West Maui. We highly recommend anyone who is looking for a place to book this right away. My wife loved it so much she is already planning a trip back!
