About Nigel Banks
Torre Cal Sada was originally planned and built by our father in the 1970's however, my brother and I have owned and managed the property for the last 20 years during which time it has served as a wonderful holiday home for us, our 6 children (now aged between 10 and 21!) other family, friends and of course clients. We are very proud of the fact that many clients choose to return to Torre Cal Sada each season, once visited it is never forgotten! Steve & Nigel Banks
Nigel Banks purchased this Villa in 1970
Why Nigel Banks chose Vall-llobrega
Our parents built this lovely villa in the 70's and we were lucky enough to be able to buy it from them in the 1990's. My brother and I have made many improvements over the years, a job which is never ending on a house such as this! We have always wanted to let the house so others can enjoy holidays here, whilst our families have enjoyed Summers every year in Palamos. We continue to renovate original features to keep the house as new as we can whilst making some major improvements such as central heating! This is NOT a modern property with modern facilities though. It has all the quirks of an older house with 50 year old Spanish plumbing and electrics, please be aware of that when comparing to other properties. However, we have kept the pricing competitive and taking that into account. We love other people enjoying our villa, in conjunction with the wonderful family holidays we continue to enjoy. It is a very special place!
What makes this Villa unique
Tranquility, fun, wonderful views, space and privacy.
Pool / Spa
Tired villa in need of significant investment
Outside view from veranda was lovely along with pool area, unfortunately the pool night lights didn’t work which was very disappointing, contacted owners on day one but did not resolve our issues, the villa itself is in need of money spent, lights not working / shower heads hanging off, toilets leaking, only 8 sun beds for 12 guests to name just a few of the issues..
And be ready to share the villa with a billion others (Ants)..
This is a disappointing review and the lowest we've ever received. Ryan and his guests did have a number of unexplained electrical issues at the house which were all fixed as soon as electricians could attend, some were found to be just blown bulbs. Other items (shower heads for example) were easily replaced once we knew of them and we have not found a leaking toilet. Contractors were contacted as soon as the issues were known about but were unable to attend immediately or were not told of all the items that needed dealing with. Ryan also complained that there were 2 broken fans in the house, these had already been replaced the previous week (so there were more then enough for the rooms) but the broken ones had not been removed from the house.
Ants are an issue not just for us but in the whole area, that is why significant shelf space is given to products in the local supermarkets! However, cleanliness is the key to keeping them at bay.
I'm pleased to say that the 3 sets of clients that stayed at the villa after Ryan have all given either 4* or 5* reviews and we will, once again, spend a significant amount of money on maintenance this winter. What is clear is the need for us to reiterate the value for money this house represents for a group of 12 people, something we have always aimed to achieve by providing a great location and character building at reasonable cost (no increase in the last 6 years!) that numerous families have enjoyed for over 25 years now. Reviews like these make us want to stop allowing guests to use the house and this is something we will review again this winter.
Finally, we have never had anyone complain that there are only 8 loungers as most families are either swimming in the pool, playing games or enjoying other activities rather than all sitting simultaneously. I will review this but suspect we will retain just the 8 and make mention of that in the details. We do have a cupboard with 10 additional full length sun lounger cushions that could always be used on the terraces, but maybe Ryan and his guests didn't find these.
Overall though, we hope Ryan and his guests still enjoyed their holiday and have not been put off from returning to an area of the Costa Brava that we love.
Lovely villa in a gorgeous location.
We had a great time in this villa. Plenty of space for all 10 adults and great facilities including a lovely pool and table tennis table. Definitely recommend this villa and would love to go back!
Beautiful property great location
We booked this beautiful villa for a girls getaway, 11 ladies from the UK and France. We were looking for something special and we certainly found it! The villa itself is beautiful and well equipped, with amazing views and the local beach castell is all you could ask for. With Barcelona and Girona close enough for a day trip we all had a fantastic time and would love to visit again.
We loved having you at Torre Cal Sada and so pleased you enjoyed yourselves. You're welcome to return at any time!
Perfect homebase for Girona Oxfam Trailwalker
My friends and I participated in the Oxfam Trailwalker in Girona at the beginning of April 2017. We rented the villa as our homebase. It was perfect and very comfortable and we really enjoyed our stay.
We're delighted you enjoyed your stay, we loved having you all! Well done and congratulations on your achievement, there are some wonderful Inland and Coastal walks in the area but we were not aware of this Charity event.
The perfect holiday villa
To say that we enjoyed ourselves would be the biggest understatement of all time! We rested, tanned, ate delicious food and drank incredibly cheap but tasty Riocha. Even the five 16 year olds in our party behaved like adults (lounging about by the pool, and some even read books - not me!!). The comprehensive instructions were invaluable in guiding us to beautiful beaches (Castells) and restaurants.
The weather behaved - warm sunshine with a breeze, which meant we not besieged by mosi's!
I even found Solmar, the car hire place at Girona airport!
So, once again, a huge thank you, and we very much look forward to visiting Catalonia again!
Wonderful guests that really took advantage of everything the area has to offer. We love it when a big group like this find something for everyone...including the teenagers! You are welcome back at Torre Cal Sada whenever you like.
Just what we needed
We arrived at Torre cal Sada pretty exhausted, and in need of a good break. We came with some friends, and immediately felt at home. The kids had endless fun in the lovely pool, and we all felt refreshed by the fantastic view down to the sea: a real sense of space which helped smooth away any remaining stress.
There's lots to do in the area - we'd particularly recommend Castell beach, and dinner in Calella and Tamariu.
The villa itself is really spacious and well looked after.
Special interest holidays:
Painting clubs and artists have rented this holiday for the past 25 years, normally in the autumn and spring months.
Bird watchers also enjoy the eagles circling overhead in the afternoon in spring.
The beach at Castell is the nearest being 3km distant. This is an unspoilt 'peoples beach' left by an incumbent lady in the 1050's to the people of Catalunya.
Alternatively there is Palamos, La Fosca, Calella de Palafrugell, Llafranc, Tamariu and Playa D'Aro within striking distance.
Gerona is the nearest airport being 40km.
Barcelona and Perpignan are equidistant at approx 120km.
Vall Llobrega is 1.5 km to the village centre and has two restaurants and 1 bar and a shop.
Palamos is 3 km distant with extensive shopping, bars, marinas and over 60 restaurants.
There is a supermarket within 2 km for all affordable home catering needs.
The Palamos market is every Tuesday morning for fresh produce.
We have a 5 Computer wi-fi router working off the Vodafone mobile network. We top it up with a minimum of £10 each week and this is normally adequate for email etc. You can then top up as required for greater usage requirements.
