Villa on Hacienda del Alamo Golf Resort, Overlooking the 15th Green & 16th Tee
About Paul Simpson
We live in St Albans, UK and have a young family aged between 4 and 10. As a family we enjoy lots of sports and socialising with friends and relatives. We enjoy our holidays but increasingly spend more of them at the villa. We have been travelling to Murcia since 1989 and loved it so much we bought the villa there
Paul Simpson purchased this Villa in 2004
Why Paul Simpson chose Fuente Álamo de Murcia
We bought the villa new at the end of 2004. We had been viewing the progress of the resort since 2003 and were impressed with the low building density of the resort and the impressive plans for the future, the quality of the build and the golf course also were much better in our opinion than the other new resorts in the area. We chose our villa because it commands a fantastic position on the resort with wonderful vistas from all viewpoints whether in the garden or on the two upstairs terraces. The plot was also the largest on the resort so we knew we had the chance to put in a larger than normal swimming pool and design a garden of our dreams.
What makes this Villa unique
We love the villa because it's quiet and not over looked, the garden is a lovely place to relax and the views are fantastic over the golf course and beyond. The golf is also fantastic with choice of a truly championship standard golf course or a six hoe practise course. For those interested in tennis we also one of the closest villas to the tennis centre, which we like as the children can go over on their own. Our three children who are aged between 4 and 10 just love the pool, they hardly ever get out of it even out of season ( the benefit of having it heated). Although it's fully equipped in side for all requiremennts and furnished to a high standard all our guests alway comment that it's the garden and the pool that they enjoyed the most.

The villa is truly lovely and has everything that you could think of. The resort is peaceful (we only saw a handful of people in 2 weeks). Supermarket is local and Fuente Alamo has a few decent restaurants. If prepared to travel 30 mins, I would highly recommend Cartegena for scenery and food.
We travelled on the last 2 weeks of August-which is fertilising season for the local farmers. The smell was a bit full on shall we say and it did impact our holiday, so bear these dates in mind when booking. Other than that, we had a fantastic stay
Absolutely as described
I can tell you that all the previous comments are spot on but feel I should add none of us play golf. We stayed for two weeks and could have easily stayed for longer. So if you golf it would be your perfect base, if you don't well...... ditto. I was impressed with every aspect and will book again in the future. Thank you Paul for allowing us to use your villa and thanks to the team who looked after us whilst we were there.
Fab villa with a stunning garden
We have just arrived home from this villa and we thoroughly enjoyed our stay. The resort is really nice, a secure gated community with nicely maintained tree-lined roads and the bonus of having kids play areas and sporting facilities available. The Spaniard Inn is just a 10 minute walk away from the villa and we found the service and food really good and reasonably priced. The villa has lots of character and is very comfortably furnished with everything we needed. The garden is just beautiful with a great pool - it really is an oasis of calm and relaxation and I'm sure that we will be back :-)
Just returned from a great week at this lovely villa. The property is set in beautiful gardens with a superb pool. Located on the golf resort yet very quiet and peaceful. The house itself is very comfortable with all that you would need for a self-catering holiday. The Golf Clubhouse has very friendly staff and you can enjoy a cold beer overlooking most of the course.
The location is also great to visit the cities of Cartegena and Murcia and beaches are not too far away.
Great alternative to a 5* hotel
We have just come back from a perfectly relaxing holiday at Villa Arenal. It is the first time when we decided to swap a 5*hotel holiday for a villa holiday and we definitely made the right choice.
The house, garden and surroundings look even better in reality than they do in the promotional photos. The house is well equipped and our top favourites proved to be the BBQ and the citrus press. As for the WiFi, we would advise anyone to get a WiFi device from the car rental places at the airport. We paid EUR 90 for a week of unlimited data with no restriction on number of devices and it was well worth it.
The heated pool (with water jets at one end) was great and ? before getting there we did not even think that we would spend more time reading our Kindles in the pool than on the sun loungers. The pool is large, has underwater lighting and is really like a steamy private thermal bath in the evening and morning, when the air is cooler.
The garden is large, beautifully landscaped, well maintained and nicely illuminated at night and BBQ-ing in these surroundings is amazing.
One big advantage of the house is that it is not overlooked. On one side it is bordered by the golf course. On the other side there is another house, but at a reasonable distance. When we visited other golf resorts such Mar Menor, El Valle, Mosa Trajectum and La Manga Club, we were surprised to see how crammed their properties were.
Hacienda del Alamo is a quiet resort, which suited us very well. The club house is modern and nicely decorated, with a great view of the golf course and surrounding mountains. All sports facilities look new, top notch and are very reasonably priced.
What we also liked is the fact that Hacienda as a resort looks stylish and high end compared to the Disneyland feel and the repetitive look of the other above-mentioned resorts.
In terms of things to visit around Hacienda, we would recommend Murcia, Los Alcazares, Cabo de Palos. We were really happy to see that these places have still maintained their local identity and quaintness.
We genuinely enjoyed our stay at Villa Arenal and Hacienda and would definitely recommend it.
Anyone wishing to have a quiet relaxing holiday in an superb villa on an excellent golf resort this is the one for you. The villa is spotless, well maintained, has all the kitchen equipment you could possibly need, is very well situated, with the largest private pool in the resort.
The resort itself is a few minutes by car from Fuente Alamo where they have 3 supermarkets and a wide variety of other amenities including a market every Saturday for fresh vegetables, meat and clothes.
Having been to this villa 3 times (and would definitely go again) I can thoroughly recommmend it to anyone.
There is a choice of superb sandy beaches or rocky coastal coves at Mazarron, only 25 mins away. Alternatively the seaside resort of La Manga del Mar Menor is 40 mins by car. This famous resort has safe and shallow waters that offer a wide variety of water-sports. It is Europe's largest salt water lagoon and boasts over 170 square kilometers of shallow warm water (regularly 5 degrees centigrade warmer than the Med).
The nearest airport, San Javier, Murcia, is only 30 mins drive from the resort. Alternatively, Alicante has frequent flights from most airports in the UK and is about an hours' drive. Car hire is recommended to get around both the resort and the region. Vehicles can be booked from a variety of low cost hire companies operating out of both Alicante and Murcia airport.
Fuente Alamo is 5 mins drive and has all the necessary supermarkets, banks etc plus an interesting market on Saturdays. Murcia the 10th largest city in Spain and famous for its gastronomic cuisine is only 25 min away.
Cartagena, Spain's largest naval base plus plenty of shops is only a 15 min drive.
