About Leo and Kay Labare
Leo worked with architect Dan Davenport to build this log home in 2001. Our family has enjoyed it immensely with all the opportunities with Yellowstone and Leo is an avid fly fisherman so the location is awesome. We hope you will enjoy the property as much as our family enjoys it.

Grand trip with the Grandkids
We loved the location right on Henry’s Lake where my son-in-law and grandson did some practice fly fishing. They later rented an ATV in Island Park and fished streams and lakes while my daughter, the two granddaughters and I went horse back riding. Most days we toured Yellowstone and covered every road except Bear Tooth Pass, as it was still closed. I had been to Yellowstone in late summer a couple of times, but wanted to share with the grandkids, as they are all in high school and college. Early June was great as the park wasn’t near as crowded and we saw so many animals with their babies. This trip we saw a mama moose with twins, two grizzlies, a black bear with two cubs, baby bison everywhere, elk and their babies, a fox and a wolf! It was phenomenal! The house was easily accessible to West Yellowstone and the west gate entrance.
The owners were easy to work with. The house was clean, essentials provided like soaps, towels, pantry basics and there were a couple of small styrofoam coolers that we used for some of the days when we packed picnics for the park. I had purchased a small one on the way, but wasn’t big enough for drinks! Beds were comfortable and there were plenty of towels! We enjoyed the fire pit one evening despite the nymph hatch! They were a nuisance, as they liked my wine, but all essential for nature!
The trip was a huge hit with my family, one they won’t forget! They loved the house as did I. Thanks for sharing your lovely home, Leo and Kay!
Tremendous get away!
Our family LOVED our stay here. Beautiful home, great location and stunning views. You can't go wrong.
Thanks John - we are so glad you had a good time!
Great location, well appointed and comfortable
Pintail Point was a great location to fish with float tubes. Large fish!
It was also convenient to other locations such as West Yellowstone, the Madison River, and the Henry's Fork.
The cabin is nicely furnished and very comfortable. We filled the spare propane tank because the one on the barbecue was low and it isn't good to run out in the middle of grilling. We consider this a part of using someone's home and it was mot an inconvenience.
The spice shelf was nicely stocked as well as the fridge with BBQ sauces and salad dressings. The kitchen was well supplied with good pans and nice dishes.
The garage could use a little cleaning up and arranging, but this didn't really bother us.. Four old fishing guys.
Thank you for the nice review. We appreciate your filling the propane tank but we also would have been happy to do this. Leo and I spent the week here and I continue to love the view of the lake and the mountains. However, we spent a couple of days cleaning and straightening the garage and it looks much much better. Regards, Kay
Just spent a great week with family at this home in Island Park. Kay and Leo have the house furnished with everything you need including things like laundry supplies and pantry staples (spices, oils, flour). The place was beautiful and a great location for Yellowstone. We also took a day trip to Jackson Hole and the Grand Teton National Park. The views from the house were fabulous, right on Henry's Lake. It was fishing season so my husband and brother in law took advantage of the local marina to rent a boat and fish. We had a nice dinner of fresh fish prepared on the supplied gas grill. The day they fished my the mother in law and I went to Virginia City/Nevada City which was about an hour away. It was a nice side trip away from the Parks. Perhaps the best part of renting this home was how responsive and helpful Kay and Leo were to our questions and needs before and even during our trip. Kay suggested Virginia City which I would not have known about and Leo is an avid fisherman that was willing to share his information (and fishing rods) with us! Some in our party did wish there was more than the one tv in the living room because that is what they are used to but in the end it wasn't an issue as we were so tired at the end of each day we barely watched tv. There is wifi so if you want you could use a streaming option I suppose. The temps were cool while we were there, just know there is no central AC but there were fans available. I imagine this is typical in this part of the country. If you are looking for a quiet and well furnished location with a great view near Yellowstone then this is the place.
Thanks Kay and Leo and best wishes!
We are so glad you had a good visit!
Family Trip to Yellowstone
We were so pleased to have a wonderfully easy and beautiful stay at Kay and Leo’s home. The location near West Yellowstone was perfect for our family and the home’s setting was picturesque. Situated on Henrys Lake, we woke to sunsets on the spacious deck.
The kitchen and laundry were fantastic and made for easy meal preparation and planning and day-to-day living. The kitchen pantry was incredibly well-stocked with staple items and spices. Traveling with kids often means we have a hard time finding an appropriate accommodation and Kay and Leo’s home definitely met our needs. They even offered a few small toys, pack and play crib, and a baby gate.
Note that the “4th bedroom” off the main living area is really an office with a twin bed inside. A one-person room to be sure.
we are so glad you enjoyed your visit!
Great Home In a Great Location
We selected this rental based on its proximity to Yellowstone and its ability to comfortably fit seven adults. We were not disappointed. This home met our needs and expectations. The setting on Henry’s Lake is as nice as the pictures show. The neighborhood is quiet. The home’s interior is roomy and well maintained. The area offers opportunities to fish, boat, jog or just sit on the deck and enjoy the solitude and view.
Thanks Vincent! We are very glad your group had a lovely time! Leo and Kay
