About Nancie

I am a naturally curious person who loves to travel and experience life. I paint oil and acrylics in my spare time and make time to enjoy the local artists whether I am in Paris or anywhere USA. I generally do not watch TV but love movies. Recently Spotlight became my favorite movie and my favorite book is The Alchemist. I hope that you enjoy my get-a-way house and relax and unplug from whatever type of everyday you are used to. I love hiking and the waterfalls in the area and suggest you try to fit in a hike to Laurel Falls during your stay to the area. I enjoy campfires and hope that you also try to fit in an evening at the rustic fire pit and pavilion behind the house which is particularly peaceful in the rain. There are lots of deer, wild turkeys and typical wildlife passing through the property to see. I find great joy in relaxing on one of the porches and watching all of the bird activity. Birds have all the fun! I love to cook veggies and if you are here in the summer, Scott's Produce is in the neighborhood. They have the best strawberries, blue berries, tomatoes, green beans and more. $20 will feed you for a week and keep you super healthy. There is a great hot yoga studio in Johnson City called Real Hot Yoga. I really enjoy the Ashtanga classes so if you are in to that sort of thing, try them out. Live, Love, Laugh is my motto and the vibe I hope you feel from my home. Thank you for being my guest. Namaste.

Why Nancie chose Unicoi

I have spent most of my life living in large cities like Atlanta and Dallas and traveling to even larger cities which I enjoyed but there is nothing like unplugging (well, I do have internet and a Verizon cell tower) relaxing and enjoying nature. I am an outdoor person that makes a living indoors. I find when I am here that I can't wait to sit on one of the porches and exhale only shortly to find myself drumming up some type of activity or meal that I want to cook or painting project. There is always something to do or not at my house.

Here are some reasons that I like the area...There are miles of hiking trails and wonderful kayaking and some descent whitewater rafting. TRI SUP on Warrior Lake is tons of fun. If you are in to the arts, the Penland School of crafts and the North Carolina Art Trails are an inspiring day trip and of course Asheville and all its magical uniqueness is less than an hour away. The Barter Theater is about an hour away but cranks out great productions is the cutest town of Abingdon, VA where I was honored to have my first art show. I just love this place to just be. I hope you enjoy.

What makes this farmhouse unique

The house is in an area of The Cherokee National Forest called Limestone Cove and just a beautiful place to exhale and then hit the trail, kayak, horseback or not. The property is nestled in the corner of TN close to NC, VA, and SC. The Appalachian Trail crosses through the neighborhood. There is horseback riding in the neighborhood as well as a field in front of the house for your horses if you so desire to bring them. 32 miles from Bristol Motor Speedway. Jam with the local banjo, guitar and fiddler players at several historical cabins in the area. Bristol Rhythm and Roots Festival in September.

Wonderful stay!

  • 5 of 5

My husband and I stayed here for two months while he rotated in Johnson City. The home is very comfortable and beautifully decorated! The mountain views were amazing and we were able to spend plenty of time outdoors. Nancie was so helpful and accommodating- very nice to work with! The home is very close to many trails and a short drive to Johnson City. We were also able to make several trips to Asheville since it's only an hour away. I would stay here again if we are in the area. Thank you, Nancie!

Cozy

  • 5 of 5

The cabin is cozy and comfortable. We were traveling back and forth to the Bristol Motor Speedway so much we werent able to enjoy the beautiful views and relaxing nature of its location, but would love to go back and just have a few days to get away there "unplugged". The cabin doesnt have TV but does have WiFi and we enjoyed the many books that were available to read. If you are always "on the go" as we are you will love this mountain get away. The owner was gracious and very nice. Had a bottle of wine waiting for us when we arrived and was available by phone and text when we had a few questions. Great stay!
