We are from the lovely county of Shropshire and have views over towards the hills of Wales. Our farm has the river Severn winding through its fields but like most farming folk work is always around us 24/7 and to have place abroad is a real bolt hole to unwind, get some sun - which Britain seem to lack these days - and take time out with friends who usually accompany us. They sometimes though get roped in to help with the odd painting or varnishing job and have even been known to get gardening but somehow it is not work on such a lovely island - more fun in the sun! When it comes to putting a picture of ourselves on this site we have decided not to after seeing our passport photos I think we would be hauled away as criminals on the run!

Why julie chose Montaña Roja

We chose Lanzarote for the islands unique dramatic landscape and complimented by its tasteful designs of pretty villages and towns. Our villa is close to the lovely resort of Playa Banca on the southern most tip of the island with restaurants and bars to suit all tastes and easy to discover along its promenade where you can walk or hire bikes and ride along with the sea on one side and the lights of Fuerteventura twinkling on the other. All the roads are extremely good so getting around the island is so easy and never takes long. Our local beaches called Papagayo are unspoilt coves and are a delight and the island is blessed with a lot of sun all year around! There is something about being on an island - a feeling of Robinson Crusoe perhaps!

What makes this Villa unique

Our villa is L shaped and very spacious. The first time we walked into it we could not believe the airy and well designed layout and sensible way the lounge and kitchen where on one side with the bedrooms and bathrooms down the other all still facing the heated pool and terrace which we must point out is very private looking out on open ground with the sea view on the right a short 5 minute walk away. The villa is at the end with its back to the street so is not overlooked but has shops just around the corner and this is great for picking up freshly made bread and cakes. The men in the family have even been known to pop out for a cooked breakfast before the women have even got up! There are some lovely restaurants alongside the shops if you dont want to get into a car in the evening.
