About Mariann Kirch

Local Artist, Certified Yoga & Standup Paddle Board Instructor.

I have a passion for living out doors and my favorite place to be in the summer is Leelanau County. I believe if God rested on the seventh day it must of been in Leelanau. There is so much beauty in the landscape from the rolling hills to the glorious sunsets were so famous for. I can' t help but feel blessed every time I step out my door and you will too. I invite you to come and visit the splendor of Leelanau Co.

Mariann Kirch purchased this house in 2015

Why Mariann Kirch chose Lake Leelanau

I purchased this property because of the stunning location on The Leelanau Narrows, and that it borders a nature preserve.

It's truly a very special place which holds remnants of days gone bye. This property was home to the Old Lumber Yard Mill in which parts of the old foundation from the mill still exist today. The Old Lumber home which as been a part of the Community since 1883 as been turned into a cottage rental.

We had a group of 6 couples stay here and we enjoyed the house very much.

Nice large kitchen, comfortable living areas and nice bedrooms.

Great place to stay!

  • 5 of 5

What a charming house. Plenty of space for our family as we prepared for our daughter's wedding. A short drive to Sutton's Bay and Dick's Pour House nearby has delicious pizza. Mariann was a pleasure to work with.

It was a beautiful piece of property and the home was amazing.

  • 5 of 5

Marianne the home owner was awesome to work with and my whole party thoroughly enjoyed the home. My only complaint and it is not with Marianne is the delay in getting the security deposit back.

Owner's Response: Hi Harlen, I'm glad you enjoyed your stay. VRBO holds the deposit and returns it between 7-14 days after the stay. I did asked them to send it out right away. I have no control over how fast they return the money. I believe you got it back within 7 days.

Great Location! Huge lot in town!

  • 5 of 5

One of my favorite Michigan destinations is the Lake Leelanau area. This home is in a great location right in town, literally a 5 minute walk from the town grocer, the local coffee shop, restaurants, and the distillery!

The home seems to be an older farmhouse that's been updated. The outside of the home looks nice. There is a huge PRIVATE dirt and gravel drive and parking lot for the home, with space for 8-10 cars. The beautiful lot is large and there are plenty of places to play catch or frisbee with the kiddies. There were 3 Weber charcoal grills and supplies for us to use, with lots of outdoor seating and a firepit. Note that the home is NOT on the lake, and while the listing says there's a path to the lake, it wasn't obvious or cleared for our visit.

The hot tub is located behind the storage shed. It's about 100+ feet from the actual home, though when you get back there it's nice and secluded. Unfortunately, the breaker was tripped on the tub when we first arrived, and once reset we had to wait until day 2 before the hot tub was hot enough to use.

The inside of the home is nice. There's only one main living area, with the kitchen and dining next to that. There were two tables, plenty of places to eat. There was also beautiful kitchen bar with seating! The owners have definitely done a great job with the space they have. The bedrooms are nice, though one bedroom has a strange low 4-5 foot entryway (definitely more of a kids room). That said, it's quite wonderful that 3 of the bedrooms have king beds!

One major negative was the side door of the home next to the kitchen. It would not shut and latch. I literally had to jam a chair under the knob to keep it from blowing open. This definitely needs to be fixed for security. A slight annoyance was the lady showing the home to me, Marie (not the owner) - she felt a little condescending, telling me I'd get "in trouble" if any of us wandered off the lot, literally reading a list of house rules aloud to me, warning me that I'd lose the entire security deposit if I used the internet for illegal purposes, but yet having no idea how to work anything (couldn't get the hot tub to work, couldn't show me how to get the heat to work, couldn't get the side door securely closed, etc.).

All in all, we had a great vacation and the positives far outweighed the negatives. Thank you and best wishes to Mariann for letting us use your home!

Owner's Response: Hi Sean, I would fist like to apologize for how you were treated in my absence. The hostess that met with you is no longer helping me with guest. You were the last guest she helped. I'm embarrassed that you were not made to feel welcome and comfortable with the home. I would also like to apologize for not sending a response back sooner. At first I didn't know how to respond an then the summer got so busy and time just flew... no excuse on my end! I would still love to offer you a free night stay if you would like to re-book with me again. I will personal make sure your are welcomed. Have a great rest of the year and I hope your Holidays are filled with joy and love. Sincerely, Mariann

Peaceful

  • 5 of 5

Wonderful house with numerous rooms. The location is great as it in the middle of the LeeLanau Peninsula. Just down the street from The Redhead Cafe which has lot's of organic, gluten free, and health options. The fireplace is very nice for wintertime and the hot tub worked great as well. I would definitely come back.

Convenient location, cool old home, great host

  • 5 of 5

Our family spent several days at Mosier Cottage with some family friends over the Christmas holiday. Our host, Mariann, was gracious enough to meet us on Christmas day to show us the property. The home has all of the kitchenware you might need to cook meals. The hot tub was a lot of fun to use, even in the winter. There was plenty of space for our two families, 4 adults and 7 kids (all under 10). Had to tweak the heat to get comfortable because she was having some issues with one of the furnace blowers. One of the toilets was also having an issue which wasn't ideal, but the other two worked fine and it will be an easy fix and shouldn't be a problem for future renters. Overall, it was a great experience.

Owner's Response: I just wanted to say the toilet is in good working order. It is a little over three years old. I clean with Clorox pills. One of the cleaning pill put in the tank lodged itself under the flap and caused the seal to leak. I'm sorry that I wasn't able to see the problem before you rented. The home is heated with an oil furnace and is very comfortable. The upstairs heating is backed up with radiant heat radiators. Please accept my apologyes if I wasn't clear in my instructions for oprerating the heat. I'm glad you enjoyed the home, Mariann
