About the property

Clean,bright 1bdrm•Fresh update•Grnd floor•Pvt laundry•Wifi•HBO•NETFLIX

Crested Butte is Colorado’s best-kept secret, and one of the last undeveloped ski towns. The atmosphere is friendly, laid-back and there’s a relaxed attitude everywhere you go. You won’t find a traffic jam here and crime is near non-existent.

The climate is cool and crisp, with sunny days year round and the night sky filled with bright twinkling stars. Historic downtown architecture reveals Crested Butte’s past as a bustling mining town, where well-preserved structures from the 1880-1910 era have found a second life, playing home to an array of shops, eateries and favorite nightspots. You’ll be hard-pressed to find fast food or corporate coffee here; even the local supermarket has a personable small town feel to it.

619 Gothic Avenue is a smart choice for lodging in Crested Butte due to its central location: about a five minute walk to downtown, and an even shorter walk to the free public shuttle, which means you won’t need a vehicle to get around town and even better, you won’t need to look for a parking spot whenever you hit Crested Butte's main street. Downtown is where visitors and locals alike converge for socializing, dining, shopping and other services.

This property is in a building with just six units total and is known around town for its unusual sloped roof covering the atrium while not only lending character to the individual spaces within, but providing light and solar warmth on cold winter days. Live trees and plants reside beneath the high atrium ceiling, lending the space a greenhouse-like atmosphere.

Beginning in autumn of 2017, the atrium roof will be structurally repaired and have large skylights installed. Energy efficient windows and a redesigned main entry are also planned. The project is expected to be complete at year's end.

Sleeps 4 very comfortably (and in a pinch can accommodate 5)

Sleeping arrangements are as follows:

2 guests on King Sized bed

2 guests on individual sofas in living room

accommodations for a 5th guest on self-inflating air mattress

Complete bedding, blankets and pillows for all 5 guests is provided.

Amenities include secure WiFi, HBO, Netflix, and DVD players, and HD flat screen televisions in both bedroom and living room. A variety of books and DVD titles are available and a brand new HE washer and dryer have been installed inside the unit, which means there's no hassle of trekking to a laundromat for clean clothes.

This property is on the ground floor and has reserved private parking by the main entry. (Currently reserved parking has been moved to the rear of the building due to the renovation of the atrium roof. Entry is temporarily limited to the back door, which is within a few feet of direct entry into the unit itself). It’s easy to get in and out without climbing stairs or packing into an elevator. The private patio features live plants and convenient storage space for skis, snowboards, bikes and other equipment right by your front door. (This area temporarily closed due to repair work to the atrium roof. Expected to re-open by year's end).

Newly remodeled and redecorated, this unit has a cozy and welcoming atmosphere. The free shuttle is a block away and a paved bike and walking path at the base of Mt Crested Butte is right down the street. There’s also a playground, and park with tennis and volleyball courts around the corner. You won’t find a more central location with zero traffic noise. In winter, the snow makes everything quiet; in spring and summer months, most of what you’ll hear are occasional bicyclists as they pass by or the chatter of birds in trees across the street.

Booking this vacation rental is easy; inquiries and questions are welcomed and the Availability Calendar is continually updated. Eliminating property management companies means you’re dealing directly with the owner, and that not only allows for lower rates, but the ability to interact with a real person who genuinely cares and will treat you as a valued guest.

Look around and compare all the details and you’ll find that 619 Gothic Avenue is easily one of the best all-around vacation rental choices in all of Crested Butte! Extra effort and lots of thought have gone into this rental to make it clean, comfortable, safe and secure.

About Kent Russell

I'm a native of Houston, and moved to Colorado in 2000 almost entirely to escape the Texas heat. What started out as a vacation turned into an extended stay that led to my announcement that would stay in Colorado for good.

I visited Crested Butte for the first time a few years after my relocating from Texas. Like many, I came to this little mountain town for its winter skiing and eventually discovered the paradise it becomes during summer months, when the blanket of snow melts away and wildflowers dot the rugged terrain. Crested Butte is truly the best of both summer and winter seasons.

I used to be exclusively a winter person and a total recluse in the summer, hiding away from the heat of the sun until I chanced upon the amazing climate and all the activities that Crested Butte has to offer during the warmer months. I still love the snow, but few things make me happier than the time I spend hiking, biking, camping, rock hunting and playing volleyball out in the sunshine and fresh mountain air.

I currently live in Denver, where I work as a real estate appraiser. I have always enjoyed the real estate business and being allowed to see such a broad and widely varied range of residential properties. I don’t think I’m being biased by saying that I have never seen another property quite like 619 Gothic Avenue. In fact, after renting another unit in the building one year, I felt that the place was so unique and special that when #3 went on the market, I purchased it for my very own.

I have worked hard to make this place comfortable, relaxing and full of good energy. The time I have spent has always been happy, restful and rejuvenating. It is my pleasure to share this this part of Crested Butte that I discovered for myself as a first time visitor. I look forward to having you as a valued guest here at Gothic Avenue during your visit.

Why Kent Russell chose Crested Butte

I chose this property by luck, I suppose. A friend bought a unit in the building and soon decided he wanted to work overseas. He offered me a deal I couldn't refuse on renting his unit. After renting for about a year I knew I wanted to buy a property in Crested Butte for my own. When I began to compare all the available places for sale, I realized that none were as unique as 619 Gothic Avenue, with its high atrium ceiling, live plants and prime location. There's a relaxed and positive energy here that always seems to greet me whenever I come to Crested Butte.

What makes this condo unique

This property is located in town, which means that it's central location allows guests to walk to shops, restaurants, and bars in less than 10 minutes in one direction and to the base of the mountains by way of a paved path in the opposite direction. Crested Butte also has a fantastic free public transportation system that will get you anywhere to want to go, including the ski area, quickly and efficiently. Once you're here, everything is accessible without having to drive.

Great condo Great location

  • 5 of 5

We stayed here the week of Christmas '17 and absolutely loved it. Nice quiet condo perfect for the two of us. Great location from downtown Crested Butte and the shuttle bus stop. Owner was quick to respond with any questions and very accommodating to any requests we had. We would definitely recommend to others and would stay here again.

This condo is very well located and quiet. It is fully stocked. It has been updated and pleasant place to rest at night. Front sliding door and rear window need to be fixed but other than that, we would stay there again. Thanks.

Mount Crested Butte
Car: not necessary

Crested Butte is Colorado's last true ski town. The downtown area has a historic appeal with its many restaurants, retail shops and bars. However, most people come here for world class skiing both on Mount Crested Butte, the local ski resort, as well as other backcountry areas serviced by hiking, snowmobiling, and cats.

While well-known for the level snowfall it receives, Crested Butte's warmer months also offer up an endless array of activities —mountain biking, hiking, climbing, volleyball, basketball & tennis courts, rafting, camping and fishing— to name a few. The crisp and fresh mountain climate makes Crested Butte a year round paradise sought out by vacationers, sportsmen and sightseers of all types.

The town has excellent free public transportation, offering all day service between and within the towns of Crested Butte and Mount Crested Butte and also regular stops in Gunnison and the South Crested Butte area.
