3 Bdr, 2 bath gorgeousness-1 Mile To Beach In A Lovely Neighborhood In Leucadia
About Sally Broder
I grew up in this house and went to San Dieguito High school right in Encinitas. My husband and I have explored all the beaches with my friends and can tell you the cool things about each one. I have a passion for horses. I am with my horse, Blindsided, in this photo at the Del Mar Charity Fair Horse Show.. He is an American Saddlebred. My husband likes to fish and so he brings his gear and fishes off the beach or goes by boat off of oceanside to have a great day of fishing. I love the beach to swim and relax in the sun. Nothing has changed since high school. You will love it as much as we do.
Sally Broder purchased this House in 1974
Why Sally Broder chose Leucadia
This home came into our family in 1974. I grew up in this house and my mom had her eye on it for years before it became available. She loved the unique pecky cedar wood, which is extremely rare. When you walk in and see the ceiling in the front living room, you will see what I am talking about. When I was growing up, we had my horse and a lamb in the backyard. I would ride my horse down the street to the beach every day after school. That's how close the beach is :)
What makes this House unique
When you walk in our house, the first thing you will notice is the lovely, welcoming dutch door. There is also a dutch door going from the dining room out into the patio and garden. After that, you will look into the warm woodsy living room. With gorgeous, hickory hardwood floors and pecky cedar paneling throughout the house, you feel a warm and elegant vibe. There is a big fireplace that you can enjoy on those evenings that feel a bit chilly in the winter. You will love the patio and garden area with the purple blossoming tree that embraces everything. There is plenty of room to have a large outdoor party or barbecue. There is seating for 12 with 2 large tables with umbrellas. Sunsets are glorious and so are sunrises. We love to come out and have our morning coffee in the backyard as the birds are waking up. Lots of hummingbirds as well as the occasional crane that will stop by for a leisurely stroll through the garden. So lets say you want to go to the beach. There are beach chairs for you as well as beach towels and an umbrella. This house is one mile from the ocean. If you go down are street to the right, it is a straight shot to Ponto Beach. This beach has a state run parking area with modern restrooms and handicapped ramps to the sand. There is a fee to park there but you can stay all day and if you want to take a lot of stuff, loading and unloading is easiest at this beach. If you go down the hill, using Hymettus, then turning right on Glaucus to make your way to Leucadia Blvd, you will run right into Beacons Beach. Same distance but different set up. This is a local's surfer beach with a small parking lot and a large hill to walk down to the beach. It is well worth the effort as the beach is protected from the wind by the cliffs.

Nice home close to the beach
This home was well stocked with kitchen basics, cookware, silverware, etc. No central air but had fans and screen doors that helped cool it down. It had some nice, spacious rooms. Property owner and manager were quick to respond to questions.
Great house for a large family
Rental process was easy. Clean, updated bathrooms and kitchen. It was large enough for our family of 9. Managers were very helpful. Location was great aside from a little freeway noise in the backyard but we're used to that. Back entertainment area was wonderful even during the drizzly mornings. Overall a great place!
Easy check in and perfect location for the beach. The back yard is amazing.
Nicely appointed home, lovely area and neighborhood
This home fit us pretty well. Nicely redone kitchen and bathrooms with marble and tile. Clean, clean and clean! The owners were also responsive with an issue, really appreciated their promptness.
Kitchen had Lots of plates, pots and pans and glasses. Could use a few more eating utensils.
Two of the bedrooms were very generously sized, the third held a single bed that would be ideal by Adding a bunk or day bed/trundle. Lovely backyard area with seating and BBQ. Just a little noisy because freeway was close by. It was easily accessible for Legoland and San Diego. Carlsbad downtown has nice shops and eating choices. The beaches were drivable or we should have brought bikes. Lovely Tiffany lamps throughout the home, hence the name but made me nervous with a toddler staying with us. Had a little scare in the early morning with skunks in back yard, so funny. Would highly recommend this home and thank you for sharing it with us Sally and Wendy!
Perfect place to entertain
There is just something about this place that makes you feel at home as soon as you walk in. All of the directions to get into the home were easy and smooth. We had the pleasure of throwing an intimate rehearsal dinner and home cook all the food right out of this kitchen. Every pot, pan, utensils, plates and a nice larger grill was available to use. Wendy also allowed us to check in early, which was wonderful because we got in very early. I would most definitely recommend anyone to stay at this wonderful home, I appreciated the updated bathrooms while still keeping the original character of the home. We will always remember this place fondly as it was part of such a special occasion in our family. Thank you so much for having us Wendy.
Very Nice Property
With our busy schedule in the area, we did not get to enjoy the back yard as we had hoped for. Very quite area and I love how the home was on the inside. Loved the age and how the wood work was done on the inside. Very spacious for what we needed. Was able to go and enjoy the beach for part of a day. Great location. Thank you so much for allowing us to stay. We love coming to the San Diego area every year.
