Waterside cottage has a prime location overlooking Lake Lucerne, a 3-acre spring fed lake only 2 miles from historic downtown Eureka Springs. The cottage is beautifully situated on a boulder overlooking the lake and spillway which offers views from every angle. With windows on all sides, this contemporary cottage offers all the modern comforts of home while being surrounded by nature. You can see an abundance of wildlife- otters, beavers, turtles, herons and even bald eagles in the wintertime. For bird lovers, there are binoculars and a bird guide book to use during your stay. Catch and release fishing is allowed at the lake, and we can also recommend many of the other prime fishing spots in the area. There is no swimming area at the lake, but it is a very peaceful place to sit and soak in the surroundings. The cottage has a fully equipped kitchen with refrigerator, gas stove, speed oven/microwave, dishwasher, dishes, pots and pans, coffee maker, etc. In addition to central heat and air, there is a gas fireplace in the living room which has wifi, cable TV and a DVD player. For those that want a writer's retreat, there is a desk area facing the lake. The sitting room and dining area opens up to a private back deck overlooking the spillway and lower pond. The bedroom has a queen size bed, cable TV, DVD player and gas fireplace. Off the bedroom, there is a large full bathroom and direct access to the hot tub deck. The 2 person hot tub is in a beautifully tucked away setting under the arbor. The large deck out front overlooks the lake and has a patio table, optional awnings and grill (designated vegan grill available upon request). Hanging from underneath the deck is a porch swing, a nice place to view the sunset over the lake.
Eureka Springs has a wide variety of restaurants, galleries and shops and has music and festivities almost every weekend of the year. It is a great town to explore with many ways to get around- trolleys, scooter rentals, etc. For those who like to walk, there are many sidewalks through town and hiking trails which are currently being expanded. You can take a historic walking tour and learn the stories behind the many natural springs and historic homes in town.
For outdoor activities, you can float one of the many crystal clear rivers in the area. The White River and Kings River (where you can rent canoes and kayaks) have many floating opportunities only minutes away, and the Buffalo National River is only an hours drive where you can do the same. There are endless hiking trails locally and at the Buffalo River where you can enjoy the unique landscape of the Ozarks with beautiful mountain views and towering bluffs. Lake Leatherwood Park is a 15 minute drive and offers hiking, swimming and boating. A library of guidebooks are available for your use.
Whether you feel like exploring the area or cozying up in the cottage, Waterside lends itself to true relaxation. One would never think that a place so peaceful is only minutes from town. We hope that everyone who stays here leaves feeling refreshed and renewed.
