Overview

About the property

2 Bedroom , 1 Bathroom , Sleeps 4

This property has been in my family since 1959, when my Grandfather purchased it as a summer cabin. The cabin sits west-facing on high bank waterfront with spectacular views of Hood Canal, and the Olympic Mountains. Part of the cabin still sports the original logs taken from the land over a hundred years ago to build the main room of the home. The back deck is very expansive and perfect for sitting outside and drinking in the view.

Wonderful week overlooking the canal.

  • 4 of 5

We had a wonderful relaxing time at the cabin and were pleasantly surprised on how much was provided in this unit. Practically everything. How wonderful! The western exposure and unobstructed view of the Canal is amazing. The only down-sides...the sofa has seen better days, chairs to the patio table would have been nice to have, and we noticed the outside could use some maintenance work before winter. Especially the gutters and down spouts. All-in-all...everything was wonderful. Thank you for sharing your beautiful home with us.

A Perfect Summer Stay

  • 5 of 5

This canal front cottage was the perfect gathering place for family this summer. We enjoyed the comforts the house provided and waking up to the water and the mountains...just gorgeous! We enjoyed the deck so much and the fenced yard let children and dogs have a place to run and play safely.

We made a trip to the "beach" which was an adventure. A path at the end of the street leads to the waterfront, beautiful to see and challenging to walk. You can see just how much of a drop there actually is from the house to the water. Suggested only for the sure- footed and somewhat fit!

The house was better stocked than expected, so my advice is to see the house before provisioning.

The only issue we had was with keeping Wifi connected. It was fine for smartphones. I brought my computer to stream Hulu and such, but my computer doesn't see the 5.0 bands from dual band routers. I had to go buy a $40 adapter to allow my computer to see the wifi. Not a huge deal once we solved the problem, but something others may want to be aware of. The computer still would disconnect from the wifi even with the adapter, but we managed. It's not like we were watching a lot of TV, but if someone needs to work while vacationing, that may be annoying.

I will be back and stay here while visiting my son's family. Highly recommend!

Loved everything about this place!

  • 5 of 5

Such a beautiful location! The house itself is lovely, comfortable and feels like home. Our only regret is that we couldn't stay longer. We hope to return again soon!

Beautiful view, comfortable. Some tips

  • 4 of 5

To echo most of the reviews--the view is amazing, the cabin overall is very comfortable and the kitchen appliances are very updated. The location is good although stores, downtown Poulsbo, etc. are about a 10 minute drive. I came prepared for minimum kitchen utensils & basic kitchen supplies based on reviews, since I planned to do a lot of baking, but the kitchen was better stocked with basics than I expected. However, there are no pans, etc. for the oven except for a couple cookie sheets. Foil pans solved that problem for me. There are very few window coverings and I agree with the reviewers who want a curtain over the bathroom window. If you need a dark room to sleep in, bring an eye mask. Although there is a TV, you can only watch DVDs or stream--no regular TV shows.
