About the property

4 Bedrooms, 2.5 Bathrooms, Sleeps 12

Surrounded by trees, this beautiful solar home backs up to millions of acres of National Forest. Hike, snowshoe, ski or sled out the backdoor, or relax and take in nature's tranquility from one of the two large and comfy sunrooms.

A real getaway, the Evergreen Escape offers peace and solitude in a spacious home with plenty of room to spread out and chill out! In addition to the sunrooms, the great room includes an open living room with a 55" Roku TV, a dining room with seating for up to 14 people, radiant floor heating and a fully equipped kitchen. There are three bedrooms on the second floor and a fourth bedroom high in the house's original A-frame. An east-facing balcony off of the master bedroom welcomes sweeping views of the sunrise and a south-facing deck off another bedroom is great for sun-lovers! Enjoy a game room full of board games, puzzles, and a ping-pong table.

The house is a 20-minute drive to downtown Evergreen, where you can enjoy great restaurants and shops. Evergreen Lake is a beautiful place to ice-skate in the winter, boat or sail in the summer, or fish for trout all year long! World-famous Red Rocks Amphitheater is a scenic 30-minute drive and hiking trails abound in the area.

One needs AWD or 4 wheel drive in the winter. The last 1 and 1/2 miles to the house is an unpaved mountain road, curvy and steep at times.

Top of the world

  • 4 of 5

Great views; kitchen and living room worked really well; second floor bedrooms were really nice; the 4th bedroom with a twin bed and bunk beds is better suited for kids. Kitchen had everything we needed. All appliances worked well, especially the dishwasher. Only drawback is the steep road to the house, but by the second time up, it wasn't a big deal. The family really enjoyed the stay.

Wonderful Mountain Retreat!

  • 5 of 5

We rented the house for our daughter's wedding in Evergreen and it worked perfectly! We were 9 adults and there was ample room to accommodate all of us. The living room is appointed with three large sofas and a very comfy chair and is equipped with a nice selection of books and nice variety of movies appropriate for all ages and interests. The bedrooms were comfortable and spacious and the kitchen is fully equipped. The house has a laundry room on the same floor as the three main bedrooms which is very convenient. The entire home was very clean and welcoming. I highly recommend that you make a trip to the grocery before you go to the house for essentials like laundry and dish soap, and bath toiletries as well as food, drinks, and snacks for your stay. You will find lots of "left overs" from previous guests such as liquor, beer, and soft drinks and a variety of bath products, but you may not find your favorite brand there.

Please note: the home is at 9000 feet elevation and was much chillier than in the town of Evergreen so make sure you pack a light jacket or sweater even in the summer. Also, the drive up/down the mountain can be a bit daunting as the top part of the drive is on unimproved road that is quite bumpy and lined with very deep ditches and has no guardrails. Allow at least 30 minutes to get to/from the house from the main road. This is a great choice and if in the area, we would rent again!

Spacious home

  • 4 of 5

We were in town for our sons wedding and really enjoyed our stay, once we got to the house. There was plenty of room for our large group of eleven adults and two children. Extremely well stocked, plenty of seating and activities. Loved the game room and all the games. So nice to have a pack and play and high chair for our youngest grandson. We saw a lot of rabbits and deer.

As much as we enjoyed our stay, there were a few negatives. First and foremost, and I understand out of the owners control, is the road to the house. It is dirt for a good portion of the trip and not in the best condition. It was rainy our entire stay and the trip up and down was very treacherous and muddy. The house lacks air conditioning and due to the rainy conditions it was very damp in the house. Since it was July, it got warm and it would have helped to at least have some fans to move the air.

Overall, wonderful visit! Thanks!

XL slice of Colorado heaven!

  • 5 of 5

The Evergreen Escape is EVERYTHING it was supposed to be!! It was absolutely perfect for our very large family. Spotlessly clean, so spacious, well stocked with all the little 'forgotten' necessities one forgets to pack or has no room in the cooler or suitcase to bring, i.e. blow dryer, iron/board, sunscreen, body lotions, shampoos, olive oil, corkscrew etc. Our kids LOVED the ping-pong and card tables!!!

Our teenage son who had to sleep on the top bunk did comment that it wasn't very comfortable but there were plenty of sofas to sleep on! We thoroughly enjoyed our stay - so much better than spending multiple nights in a hotel!!

A Mountain Experience

  • 4 of 5

The property is called "treehouse" for a good reason. The views are gorgeous. The house is spacious and well-appointed with wonderful views plus cozy nooks and crannies. The kitchen has plenty of pots and pans and room to cook. We did appreciate the pantry "extras" as a quick trip to the grocery store is not an option.

We enjoyed the large bedroom spaces and bathrooms. There are interesting places to play games or cards. And movies available.

The tricky part for us was the trip up and down. Just plan 30 minutes one way and take your time.

We had family obligations and not enough time for hiking and outdoor fun. We were also curious about the construction of the home.

Lovely home and great mountain memories

  • 5 of 5

What a great experience for our family! This home provided everything we needed to enjoy each other and make great memories for our children and grandchildren. So nice to feel like home with all you need there just like home! But then add stunning mountain views and the sunrise and full moon glowing through surrounding forest and your family has whole new experience.

Our soon to be 13 year old granddaughter watched the sunrise with awe when at home in Ohio in the summer it is the high noon sun she sees when she wakes up! Great hiking abounds in this area and we saw a moose, deer and bear visit which grandkids loved.

We visited and hiked parks in area and kids loved going back to house and all being together cooking and playing games and family time. No iPads needed!!

Perfect family home and lots of new experiences is what we wanted and that is what we received . Thank you so much!
