About ROSS SINCLAIR
Lynda and I retired to Spain 11 years ago after selling our business. Our 2 sons 'flew the nest' some years ago so we felt it was our turn to relax and enjoy some better weather. My love of golf influenced the area we settled in and Lynda's love of painting was influenced by the vivid light and views in this area of Eastern Spain. We enjoyed the area so much that we purchased a villa on the hills overlooking the sea and village of Las Fuentes where we now live and have a penthouse apartment for renting (Owners Direct S7602).
ROSS SINCLAIR purchased this Apartment in 2007
Why ROSS SINCLAIR chose Alcalà de Xivert
Initially we bought an apartment on Panoramica Golf course where we lived for a while and then grew to love the area of Las Fuentes near Alcossebre where we bought a villa overlooking the sea with spectacular views We modernised the villa on the El Pinar hillside and finished the penthouse apartment which we have rented out for the last 9 years.
What makes this Apartment unique
The El Pinar penthouse is superbly furnished to a high standard and all visitors are amazed by the spectacular views from the property which looks south over the village and sea. The property is on it's own with one other villa 200 meters away so it is peaceful and yet with access by road to the village and town only 5 minutes away with many restaurants, bars and wonderful beaches. There are 2 golf courses within 45 minutes of the area and now a 6 rink outdoor bowls club. Castellon airport newly opened in September 2015 and is only be 20 minutes away from Alcossebre.

A great find.......
This place is amazing - we feel so lucky to have come across it! We love Alcossebre and have been visiting there every year for the last 8 years. The apartment we used was recently sold hence how we found this gem ....... up in the mountain so away from everything with stunning views but with the beach, bars and town just a few minutes drive away. Perfect. The villa is spotless, beautifully furnished and well presented. 2 bedrooms, a bathroom, kitchen and lounge area. The balcony is gorgeous. Wonderful to sit on and look at the stunning views of alcossebre. We spent a lot of our afternoons on there. There is also a patio area which is a real sun trap with sun beds and a table and chairs. There is also a swimming pool which is a lovely area and also spotless but quite small.
You would definitely need a car to stay here but trust me it’s totally worth it. And there are 55 steps up the villa but they are not impossible - just a little hard work in the heat so I thought I should mention them! I was actually quite toned when I went home! :)
The only downside of the villa is the fact that word will spread and we will struggle to get booked in there - our week next October is already booked. Enjoy.
Thank you so much for your lovely comments and we are so pleased you enjoyed your stay with us at the end of the season. Certainly the weather was great during your stay and you even braved the pool at the end of October. We look forward to seeing you here again next year. All the best for the future,
Ross & Lynda
A wonderful place for a fantastically fun, interesting and relaxed holiday
Absolutely fantastic place. We (parents, two teenage daughters) had a wonderfully fun and relaxing holiday. The location and set up of the apartment give wonderful views down the pine-covered hillside to the coast and out across the sea, which you get as soon as you wake up (in the double bedroom), from the main room and from the open balcony where we had meals. The pool and terrace are also fantastic. We also really enjoyed the bigger communal pool (just beyond El Pinar restaurant) - I think that's only open July and August (?) It was a pretty constant 30-32 degrees and sunshine for us (second half of August) but if you open the windows and doors there's a lovely breeze. A bit warm at night but the fans in the rooms helped a lot (though the fan in the twin room could do with replacing). We enjoyed walking down the hill to the lovely little beach at Las Fuentes, and around and up the hill to hermitage. Everything from rent-a- pedalo beaches to quiet, good for snorkeling beaches to walking through unspoilt hills available within easy drives. We also enjoyed trips to Peniscola (nice castle in particular) and Vinaros (big town beaches + nice hermitage a bit inland), and particularly Morella (hour and a half inland, but very much worth it). But mostly, a whole lot of relaxed mooching around and la dolce fa niente (sorry, don't know the Spanish for that!). All seems like a dream now. Fabulous place.
We both thank you for your wonderful comments on your stay here at El Pinar. It is so nice to know you enjoyed the villa and pool and also the area and your comments are so helpful to future guests. Once again, thank you.
Lovely penthouse apartment in the sun
Our family party of three had a fabulous time in the hills overlooking Alcossebre. The penthouse is really well appointed, both internally and externally. The place was spotless when we arrived and we were made very welcome by the owners who live downstairs.
The private terraces and small pool were a godsend - especially in August with high temperatures and humidity.
The views from the property are spectacular and there is a lot to do, locally and farther afield.
The property is located on the edge of an ‘urbanisation’ and prospective visitors need their own transport. Apart from a lovely local restaurant, all other facilities are in the town a few kilometres far below.
Also, there are a number of steep flights of steps up to the penthouse which would be a serious challenge to anyone with limited mobility.
Overall, we had a fantastic time in this lovely property and would recommend to anyone looking for peace near the Med.
Thank you so much for your wonderful review, we are so pleased you enjoyed your stay. Certainly the weather was fantastic and the pool is so convenient for "cooling off". You would be very welcome here any time in the future. Best wishes Ross & Lynda
Impeccable villa, impeccable location, impeccable service.
For selfish reasons, I would love to say "don't ever visit here! It's awful", purely so I knew it would be available for when we want to rebook again. However I simply can't. Ross and Lynda are diamonds and have a most beautiful villa in a stunning location with views to die for. 1) location. The villa was great for me, my wife and 2 children (7&12 years). We enjoy self catering, being secluded yet a short drive from beaches and shops etc and having a pool to ourselves so this place was perfect. Once you master the windy roads, it's a piece of cake to get to. There are many steps up to the villa, however this allows for stunning panoramic views across Las Fuentes and Alcossebre. Once inside the villa, the first thing we noticed was how clean and well presented the place was. It seems like an obvious thing to get right, but it doesn't always happen. On arrival, Ross gave us a tour and could not have been more helpful. Although Ross and Lynda live in the area below the villa, you wouldn't know they were there unless you requested their presence. There is no air conditioning but the lofty location allows for a sea breeze to roll over the valley, up the hills and into the villa. We did mention to Ross that one fan wasn't too powerful and he provided a new one immediately. The pool is deep enough to swim in but not dive. It provided hours of fun each day for us all and was also well maintained. There is a communal pool at the top of the road that local residents can use and is open only in July and August. It is a real gem and over 9ft deep at the deepest! We never saw more than 6 people there at one time and is well worth a visit. The local l restaurant El Pinar is also with treating yourself to aswell. We had a fantastic meal there. The local town and beaches are all well worth exploring, as is the market, as long as you're prepared for it being busy at the market. There are plenty of shops and bars nearby including the Consum supermarket for everything you need. You will definitely need a car if you stay here. Peniscola is a 30 minute drive away and was our favourite place. The Forte, beach and market was a highlight of our stay. Another place worth visiting is the local chapel on the hill around a mile from the villa. The views are sensational! I'm running out of space and sensational words to eulogise about this beautiful villa any further. The location is outstanding, the villa is beautiful and best of all, Ross and Lynda are the perfect hosts
What a wonderful review from a great family. We are so pleased you enjoyed all aspects of the holiday, even the thunderstorm was exciting! Nick cooked some wonderful tapas one night with plenty of wine and guitar music, a great night.
Once again, thanks and we hope to see you here again soon.

Superb accomodation - perfect for a relaxing getaway.
Wonderful apartment with Ross and Linda being the perfect hosts, allowing complete privacy so as you really do feel like the apartment is your own. Highlight for us was the balcony with stunning view out to sea. When not out sampling the fabulous restaurants in the area, we ate all of our meals (breakfast, lunch, dinner) on the balcony, a perfect place to unwind with a bottle of wine.
Thanks Andy for your lovely comments. We also enjoy relaxing out of season on the apartment terrace with its views to the sea. Hope you enjoyed the end of season firework display on the seafront, a great view from the terrace. Best wishes

A lovely apartment in an idyllic position.
Wherever you are in the apartment, whether dining, lounging on the terrace, chilling in the pool or even lying in bed, the wonderful view is constant. The location affords perfect peace but is within easy reach of the facilities and shops in Las Fuentes and Alcossebre. Our 11 year old granddaughter was never out of the pool. We had a great time! Ross and Lynda, the owners, were on hand to help if needed, although the equipment and facilities in the apartment meant that we were perfectly self contained and comfortable. Brilliant!
What lovely comments, thank you all. The cycle race La Vuelta was a bonus for us all on El Pinar hillside, finishing stage 5 at the top of the hill with nearly 200 of the top cyclists. It was great to meet you all and thoroughly enjoyed your company. Lynda and I hope to see you here again some time in the future, adios!
El Pinar is in an ideal geographical location for lovers of the sea, with breathtaking views of the many local ‘blue flag’ beaches from the apartment, with the nearest just 5 minutes drive away in Las Fuentes and Alcossebre, where you can enjoy over 300 days of sun each year with an average temperature of 26 degrees in summer and 18 degrees in winter. Otherwise explore the coastline for more remote beaches or head to other nearby popular beaches of Peniscola, Vinaros and Benacassim.

In the town Las Fuentes and Alcossebre have many fine restaurants - fabulous food at the 'Antonios, on the beach is the Michelin recommended 'Can Roig'.
Vinaros is the local fishing port town, bringing in fresh fish every day with King Prawns a local speciality. There is a fantastic market in next to the seafront in Vinaros where you can purchase fresh fish, fruit and vegetables and is colourful with a wonderful atmosphere. Restaurants and bars are all along the seafront with excellent shopping in the town centre and plenty of large supermarkets on the road to the golf course.
Benicarlo (next to Vinaros) is also a seafaring town with the Nautical Resort providing a great variety of watersports –including canoeing, sailing, snorkling, diving and water skiing.
