The property has beautiful garden areas for a relaxing holiday in a convenient area of the Algarve..
The site description of the house and garden is full and accurate.
The house is conveniently situated in the central Algarve area and only a couple of minutes drive from the small town of Algoz where there is a daily meat, fish and veg market. There are a number of good cafes and restaurants in the area. It also has a small convenience store.
It also has a very big visiting market on the 2nd Monday of the month.
The house was very clean and it has beautiful, mature Mediterranean garden areas which are private.
We found it quiet at night. We would visit again.
The Ryanair of villas
Dont get me wrong this is a lovely place to stay. The gardens, courtyard and pool are lovingly cared for and well equipped. It was great to sit in such beautiful surroundings. The interior is a little dated but fine. The kitchen, sharp knives apart, is well equipped. The location is quiet and peaceful, in a handy spot for the beach, airport, shops and places of interests. You need a car, mind. As said before the garden and pool are perfect.
It is a no frills villa though. There was nothing consumable in the place. Usually you get the odd bit of sugar or oil or dried herbs; here nothing. We arrived late on a saturday night with a young baby and it would have been nice if there had been a welcome pack to help us settle in or have a cup of tea but there wasn't. To be fair there was a bottle of water in the fridge and some salt. Ok none of this is that big a deal but what did rankle is that there was no soap or equivalent at all in the place, not great when caring for a baby. No washing up liquid either. The toilet roll in the main bathroom was three quarters used and ran out on day two. The one in the second bathroom ran out on day five. There was no replacements. I have never rented a villa without soap, washing up liquid or insufficient toilet roll before. The owner was helpful however and provided good suggestions for places to visit etc. He was understanding as well when my roast chicken set of the smoke alarms and when my wife left some chair covering outs which then got wet.
I was somewhat bemused to be provided with a typed list of instructions on how to leave the property. It seemed to be expected that we would leave the property in a pristine condition not just in a clean condition and we were ordered to remove all the bins and place them in the village bins ourselves which seemed a little draconian but not a real problem. On our return £37.00 was taken from our £100 deposit because apparently the oven was left covered in grease (I only used it once and thought I had cleaned it to a reasonable standard) and for a broken fridge shelf that I don't see how we could have broken but there you go. We got two thirds of the deposit back so I am not complaining. In short a lovely relaxing place to stay just bring or buy everything you are going to need.
We were pleased to have Paul and his family, it was great that he enjoyed the cottage and it's surroundings, we clearly state that we do not accept children under the age of 4 so were surprised at such a young baby. We do offer a very personalized welcome pack if requested. Supplying soaps can be problematic with each person having there own preference to there skin type, also leaving left over food such as sugar herbs & oil that are not new or sealed most guest find off putting, 2 toilet rolls are provided to get guest started but the cottage is advertised as self catering and we simply ask guest to leave it clean, this way we clean it spotless to accommodate new arrivals who have book for the same day arrival. We supply dishwasher tablets as well as soap powder and are always looking for way to keep the property updated, this year that included supplying phone chargers. as well as a smart TV. We always hope our guest have a memorable stay and our other reviews show we are on the right track.
Well appointed secluded cottage. Just what we hoped for
Ours was a golfing holiday so we needed somewhere to chill out after a day on the course. Karl made us very welcome and showed us around before leading us to the local supermarket to stock up on everything we needed.
The pool was very welcome as the weather was unseasonably hot. We barbecued twice which was great as the large courtyard was private and pretty. The kitchen had all the equipment we needed and a large fridge and full size oven. Plenty room for two of us and probably ideal for a family of four. Thanks to karl for a wonderful break. Hope to visit again.
A beautiful and quiet oasis
We spent ten nights here recently. Conveniently and centrally located for those who want to see both the eastern and western Algarve. The villa is just as described, with lots of conveniences. Karl and Steven have spent years perfecting this quiet oasis. Be sure to ask them questions about the area!
Nice clean rural accommodation - very relaxing.
We stayed here for 10 days in September. Whilst the accommodation is not modern, it is comfortable and relaxing and we felt very at home here. The location is very rural and the local village is not really walk-able, especially when you experience how the Portuguese drive, as the road is quite busy; having a hire car is a necessity. We found no useful shops in the local village; the SPAR is dreadful. The best supermarket was ALDI as this seemed to have more of what we wanted, but the larger PINGO DOCE is cheaper - both are a 20 minute drive away. We spent a very quiet relaxing 10 days enjoying the sunshine and the pool, which whilst not Olympic size and unheated, was very welcome when temperatures were averaging 30+ degrees every day. We only went out to one of the recommended restaurants but didn't enjoy the experience so we stayed in mostly. If staying in enjoying the cottage and relaxing is your thing then I would recommend giving some thought to taking some entertainment with you, as the TV has very limited channels and the DVD's are quite a random selection; this could be an ideal opportunity to catch up on your box sets if that's your thing. I view this accommodation ideal for an older couple looking for a very tranquil holiday away from it all and wanting real peace and quiet. Due to the property's rural location there's a list of " do's and don'ts " but most of them were common sense. You will be asked to clean the property before you leave as the owners do not employ a cleaner; we had never been asked this before at any previous rentals, but we always clean properties before we leave so it didn't bother us. We had a very enjoyable 10 days at this cottage.
I was surprised at some aspects of your review, the property is listed as a luxury cottage as the photo's show the decor as a cottage and not a modern apartment. The village has many Portuguese supermarkets and a fresh fish & veg as well as fresh baked bread in the daily market, so being disappointing in a new Spar store tells us you wanted a English shopping experience in Portugal. The Pool is 7.30Mtr so more than large enough to be called a swimming pool. The property has a 32" smart TV with access to internet , Google Play store , Netflix etc: But you choose not to pay the €15 for 30GB sim card valid for 15 days to use the internet. With regards to being asked to clean the property it is listed as self catering not a hotel. We were glad you enjoyed your 10 day stay even though you broke a 1 year old sun lounger and were not charged for the damage. We have many families who enjoy the property due to it's central location and return each year as the 17 other reviews show.
Very tastefully decorated with everything you could possibly want for a self catering holiday. Owners Karl and Steven were very friendly and helpful. Secure off road parking for our car. Near to Zoo, Silves and great local restaurants. Only a short car ride to beautiful Algarve beaches.
Susan and Andy, were the perfect guests leaving the property as clean as they found it. We were please to learn that they enjoyed their stay so much that they are returning in October and we look forward to meeting them again.
