About Silvia Vignati
Born in Bologna in 1973, I have a university degree in foreign languages and literature's. I work at the Agrotourism "I Fontanini" since its opening in 2003, where I manage the customers, the advertising and the public relations.
Silvia Vignati purchased this Castle in 1980
Why Silvia Vignati chose Zocca
Bologna and Modena 1 hour far away, mountain views, fresh air, pleasant climate both in the summer and in the winter, the quietness, the wild nature, the chestnut forests, the long walks on tracked paths, the singing birds, the excellent food and wines, the friendly people in the village. Village fairs, excursions and plenty of activities organized from May until November. Montombraro famous swimming pool and the Parco dei Sassi di Roccamalatina.
What makes this Castle unique
This lovely house used to be a fortress within the hamlet, where the dwellers could control the main street that lead to the village and eventually shoot from its windows any intruder. It is a suggestive house with pointed arch windows, where you enjoy a stunning view over the Monte Cimone and you feel yourself the inhabitant of a castle.

Lovely place to stay and in a stunning location. We had a superb time.
We really enjoyed our stay in the castle. Ricarda was very kind and an excellent hostess. I definitely recommend this house to anyone who wants to experience Italy in a rural setting.
The house was nice. But no private garden next to the house.
No private garden. The kitchen was extremely small and not properly equipped: no proper wineglasses, not four similar cups or mugs or water glasses, no nice platters or owls for serving meat or salad, no roasting dishes, no cast iron casserolles. Open fire was nice but the smoke gets all over the living room amd smells horribly.
Lovely old house.
Typical Italian stone property set in quiet countryside with views for miles. Some foggy/misty days when we were there in October but cosy and warm in see with a huge wood fire. Other properties to rent nearby so perfect for a group of friends or family.
Probably more a summer rental when warm evenings sitting outside would be perfect.
As the rooms are set on 3 floors maybe not the best place if you are not fit and able!
Borgo Fantonini is an absolutely amazing and magical spot. It has been expertly updated and modernized, yet its original character and history infuse the entire property. The apartment is spacious, clean and very well-equipped. There are a variety of different spots for sitting outside, each thoughtfully and artfully sited to make the most of small gardens or big, beautiful views to the surrounding countryside.
Silvia is a delightful host, intent on making each visitor's stay memorable. While we did not take advantage of her cooking classes, I have no doubt that being in the big, warm kitchen with her would be fabulous.
During our visit in October, the nearby town of Zocca had its annual chestnut festival. Not to be missed if you are there at that time of year. We cooked dinner in the apartment on a number of evenings and found that the shopping in Montombraro was just fine.
We would highly recommend this property.
We have had a delightful holiday here in Fontanini. The ancient buildings are all beautiful, tastefully restored and comfortable.
Surrounded by spectacular wildflower meadows and orchards Il Fontanini is a haven of peace; the humming of bees and bird song are the only background noise.
There is a sense of history that pervades this beautiful hamlet and it's setting in the surrounding hills.
Silvia our host provided us with breakfast when we were too busy or too lazy to bother, she cooked us special cakes and a cooked breakfast and we ate outside overlooking one of the most magical scenes I have witnessed.
Don't come for the night life but do come if you appreciate botany, views to die for, peace and tranquility and an Italian sense of history.
