Greek bathrooms might be a turn off!
Not being able to flush toilet tissue and not having an overhead shower were turn offs for us, but we experienced this everywhere in Greece so it's not the fault of this property. Kitchen was tiny, draws smelt musty but everything we needed was there. Owner was very nice and helpful as were all the townspeople we met. Local beach is rather dirty. It is worth the hour plus drive to go to the beaches on the south side.
Fantastic location, very private and secure. Helpful and attentive owners.

We loved Villa Nineta - the house is spacious and the yard and pool are perfect. The pool was just perfectly deep. We felt so secure as our house had gates around it, but then the community of 3 homes was also gated. The location was perfect - within walking distance of town and the beach. The town has a few excellent restaurants and a fantastic bakery. The beach is rocky but fine for a dip and then back to the pool. The restaurant on the beach is very nice. You really feel like you are part of a small community as you walk to either one, past dogs, cats, goats and sheep and farmers fields. The house is also perfectly situated to explore the west end of the island - Chania and some great beaches. Our only regret is that we did not stay long enough!

Very enjoyable holiday. We used the villa for a complete rest during our 14 days. The pool was excellent. We stayed for most of the holiday at the villa as the high temperatures didn?t invite too much travelling around!!
Two local tavernas on the coast (10 minutes walk) were really ideal.
The town supermarkets and bakery (20 minutes walk) were more than adequate. We bussed into Chania one day to visit the harbour which is worth a visit.
Unless visiting lots of areas was your ambition then it is not necessary to rent a car. The coast bus route is very efficient.
We recommend the villa to people who want a quiet peaceful break.
Many thanks Richard & Barbara
Meets high expectations
We spent two weeks at the property.
It is as is described, very comfortable, private. For kids ideal because of the swimming pool, darts and pool table. We were a bit lucky to find the place as we arrived late at night and it is one of three houses in a gated olive grove. Suggest you arrive in daylight.
You are quite secluded in the enclave, despite being between the town of Tavronitis (500m) and the sea (200m). There are three houses in the olive grove, of which Nineta is one. They are however separated by olive trees and are walled, so you don't notice the others much.
Everything was clean and the owner quite attentive to making you feel comfortable. He would drop by every once in a while to ensure that things were ok, with the house, pool, etc. Also, different from other places we stayed, there was a cleaning lady who would take care of cleaning the basics around the house, changing towels and bed linen every few days, which was great. When, on occasion we had a question, it was quickly answered and resolved.
The property was generally well equipped. The airconditioning worked well and very comfortable dining area, patio tables for relaxing meals either indoor or outdoor. Kitchen appliances worked fine. The outdoor bar-b-que next to the pool was very convenient and well utilised.
We can highly recommend Tavronitis as a base for exploring western Crete. The sea life snorkeling off the coast directly in front of the property was among the best we saw in the different locations we visited throughout western Crete, including some of the more well-known snorkeling spots. It is also not over-run with tourists, more of an authentic, sleepy coastal town.
We can highly recommend this property.

I am working for almost 27 years in Tourism right now and that means; mostly you know to much. How things can go wrong etc, etc. Also I have seen more than thousands of houses inside and outside and I know, its not always what you see is what you get.
But, however, in this case it was great from A till Z, really. A good description to the villa, very friendly owner and a great villa. We only stayed for 6 days but I could have been there 60 days as well.
Agni Travel Team and Mr. Michaelis; Chapeau!!
With regards, Jan Ambriola
Tavronitis is a quiet undeveloped village facing a 3km of beach with several villas dotted along the beach front. The beach rarely becomes busy and there is always plenty of shade in the form of trees, that fringe the beach, or rental sun beds and umbrellas. On the beach you will also find some 'Kanteens ' that sell cold drinks, snack and light taverna meals. In the village there is a good selection of shops, traditional tavernas and super markets. Tavronitis is a perfect starting point for exploring the NW of Crete. The nearby town of Kissamos is just a short drive and there you will find numerous archaeological sites as well as trips to uninhabited islands off the coast of Crete. Maleme Is a historic coastal village which was involved in several battles during WW2. Today the scene is much more friendly with a sandy beach and welcoming turquoise waters. There are several tavernas, bars and mini-markets.
