The villa is situated near to the beautiful whitewashed village of Frigiliana. It is in a secluded position, facing south towards the sea and is surrounded by wonderful mountain and sea views. Frigiliana has been noted the prettiest village in Andalucia by the Spanish tourism authority. With its Moorish influences and narrow cobbled streets it has great character and its varied bars and restaurants suit all tastes. Nerja is the nearest coastal town with the centre being the incomparable Balcon de Europa. Here are beautiful beaches, numerous interesting shops as well as splendid selectio of bars and restaurants. The Nerja caves are one of Spain's biggest tourist attractions and well worth a visit. We consider this villa, with its pleasing location in an area of conservation, to offer peace and tranquillity whilst still being within a few minutes drive of many amenities, able to meet all your holiday desires.

Pleasant stay in great location
Nice villa in a lovely location with great views. Despite being directly adjacent to the track was very quiet and private (pool area not overlooked at all). Nothing to complain about really; all nice and clean, kitchen suitably equipped (with decent knives and a sharpening steel!), not a great selection of glasses though but not a big deal. All in all a great 7 days. Would come again. Pool was nice size and lovely and deep (just what we wanted but may not suit young kids? - that said kids in Spain not so molly coddled as in UK! I'd have happily come here with my own kids when they were young). BTW follow the direction instructions - not sat nav! Also look out for 'Pedro' on his moped just about making it up the hill past the villa in first gear and the into second - he'll wave too (usually has a fag in his mouth) aka Pedro from Driving Over Lemons.
Fantastic villa, location and owner
We had a fantastic two weeks at Las Mariposas.
I note previous comment about some unwelcome visitors of both four and two leg variety. Mel was upfront about both issues and I can confirm we had absolutely no issues with either. Spoke to some locals and all very happy with how safe the environment was. Only creatures on display were the the beautiful butterflies, swallows and horses!
The pool, outside area and views all stunning. The villa was perfectly proportioned and very comfortable. Maybe some fly nets on the windows would help keep temperature cooler at night. This was only a slight issue.
Frigiliana is a stunning village and Nerja had all my teenage kids needed to keep them entertained but like us enjoyed lazy days and evening BBQs by the pool.
Mel was always on hand to answer any questions and lots of tips and advice on things to do and places to eat.....
Will definitely be back....

Beautiful property and location but marred by problems
The location is absolutely stunning. Mountains to one side, Frigiliana to the other and the ocean in front. Village just a short drive.
Decor of the villa is lovely and beds really comfy.
Outdoor facilities very good
Lack of air con (which we knew when we booked) was a real problem in the sweltering heat. Electric fans really weren’t sufficient. Made sleeping v uncomfortable.
The real issues were beyond owners control and would mean we would never return -
Firstly, rats! They were spotted on 4 occassions and whilst owner sent the garden man promptly to deal with them by putting down poison and taking out a bench in the garden, it meant we didn’t use the bbq, leave windows or doors open nor sit outside in the evening.
Secondly, there was an intruder on the property on the final night and police had to be called at 12.30 am. The fact that there was no welcome pack with emergency numbers nor property address made contacting the emergency services very difficult.
A beautiful location but the owner has some work to do in maintaining pest control, putting up security lights and bars on back windows/doors and also putting together a visitor pack.
Good communication from Host Melanie Lovely area great views
The villa was a good size and in a beautiful area with fantastic views of the sea and mountains The swimming pool was s great feature & very much used as it was extremely hot Melanie was very helpful with good communication We asked for extra nights and she was very obliging She organised the cleaner to go in early after last guest left so we could get in a night earlier than booked
However some constructive criticisms about minor things though nothing that would detract from having a good holiday there
The washing machine worked but the door and soap dispenser was broken We would have appreciated having more than one tea towel as we had to wash and dry it couple of times during the week Some of the furniture could do with some TLC The door in front room didn’t have key to unlock it Mel said no key as they don’t use it but we’d have appreciated it being open to get a breeze through as very hot and no air con There is a washing line of sorts but it’s across the drive at front of house and doesn’t get much sun A rotary one in the back garden that gets sun all day would be better (We used the chairs to dry our items) Also a laundry basket would have been useful
Make sure that you pop in to Lidl’s in Nerja to get provisions as no welcome essential items( except a bottle of wine) that we are used to having from other villas Also Mel told us she had a welcome pack initially but doesn’t now as someone took it away However she did give us lots of info re area etc via email But instructions for how to use washing machine and cooker would have been useful (We did finally work it out after trail and error ) All this Said please don’t let it put you off booking it As it’s a lovely place Hopefully Mel will take on board and sort out the minor problems then it would truly be a fantastic home from home place to stay Overall a great time had by all
Lovely villa with stunning views
We stayed at maripossa villa for a few days and felt so relaxed straight away. The villa was well equipped and ample space for 6 of us, the pool area was lovely over looking the mountains, sea and the amazing Frigiliana! The taxi’s were great from the village very reliable and reasonable would definitely recommend them. Frigiliana is well worth a visit just mulling around the quiat streets, shops and restaurants, would recommend The Garden Restaurant at the top!
Melanie was easily contactable for advice and to help us with any issues we had, which she did her best to sort out for us. I would definitely recommend this villa and will definitely go back.
Lovely place in the mountains
Fantastic place to stay for a relaxing week in the sun. Views are amazing with the added bonus of horses walking by to say hello. Would happily stay there again.
Choice of beaches and coves 15 minute drive in amd around Nerja, with many more along coast.
50 minutes drive from Malaga Airport.
5 minutes drive to Frigiliana and 15 minute drive to Nerja.
There are many excellent restaurants in Frigliana, and one within a 20 minute walk, and very many more in Nerja.
