Charming apartment perfectly located

  • 5 of 5

My family and I greatly enjoyed our stay just steps away from Piazza Navona and a short walk from Campo de' Fiori. The apartment is as pictured. Furniture is new and modern. The air conditioning is strong and effective (important during the heat wave that was going on in June!). Be comfortable with city noise if you stay here; there are obviously crowds and nightlife just below your window. The hosts were very professional, met us as expected on arrival and arranged efficient transport to FCO on our departure. Hope to stay again soon!

Location is so central

  • 4 of 5

I love piazza Navona and knowing this unit was so close sold me. We arrived on a Saturday afternoon and the area was bustling. Be aware a Saturday night in this street is CRAZY! The wonderful partying lasted til 230 much fun but not for the light sleeper at all. The flat has recently been updated some and decor borders on modern and ancient mixed with industrial. The kitchen is well equipped, there is a washer but no dryer. It is super easy to walk every where. There are many restaurants just outside the door and a wine and Pasta shop just across the street. The apartment could use a little TLC for comforts but mostly is great. The windows are thick enough to block out much of the street noise.

My only negative comment is there are only one set of keys... if you travel as a group who separate at times this will be a challenge. We worked it out... but it is a challenge.

All in all it was a great stay, the location bring so close to everything is perfect. (Taxi drivers are not exactly sure of location of the street but it all works out).

I have been to Rome many times, this location was perfect.

If you ar needing 5 star luxury keep looking... if you want a good place with a great location and comfortable.... you found one!

Location Great: Picture a Fantasy!

  • 2 of 5

I am not new to renting apartments in Europe, including Italy. However, I was certainly fooled this time! In fact, when we walked up the three flights to the apartment, I thought I was in the wrong one. The most positive thing about the apartment is the location. It's a two minute walk to Piazza Navona; it's near many restaurants; famous sites are walkable. Now to the rest! Max, the one I emailed with, should have told us that the apartment was undergoing renovation. The dining room table and chairs were replaced by a glass top table and 4 plastic kitchen chairs. The television in the living/dining area never worked. We kept getting "no signal". The tv in the bedroom wasn't even hooked up. Wires were protruding from the walls without being hooked into any lighting. The floor in the main areas was so dirty that I left my slippers in the garbage when we left. The floor probably had been cleaned, but it needed a real deep cleaning. The toilet in the main bathroom stopped flushing. I didn't have a phone, but emailed Max for two days. Finally, we skyped and he said he didn't have access to email. That struck me as strange because that's how we corresponded when we were discussing our arrival. He did send a plumber over to mix the problem. He said it would be the next day, but when we came back from dinner, we walked in on the plumber. We were all surprised. The front bed room faces a lively street; earplugs are a must and even then they won't help until way after midnight. On our departure day, we were asked to leave by 9:30 AM as furniture was being delivered. When we got home, I sent several emails to Max about our disappointment with the apartment. I got no response. I tried several of his email addresses including on Home Away's web site. No response. A person from Home Away sent him an email. No response. I finally got customer support and got a case number. I'm waiting to see how they make out. I tried to get Max to respond to the condition and cleanliness of the apt and perhaps make a partial refund. To date, he has not even had the courtesy to write and say no. I must say that when I booked Max was prompt, friendly and professional. I wish he had been so when I wrote after the stay. I also wish that they pictures on the we site had been pictures of the apartment as it was for our stay.

False Advertising - don't believe the pictures

  • 1 of 5

First off the location is very good and we were met at the property as promised. However that's were good things ended. We booked the property many months ago because of the positive reviews, the charming pictures that included elegant fixtures decorations and furniture. When we arrived the property was undergoing some renovation which was not complete. Here are a list of issues we noted:

- everything was painted bright white (nothing like the pictures)

- except for a mirror in the living room there were no decorations at all

- there was no fridge (arrived two days later)

- the ceiling light in the living room was not the chandelier from the pictures but a single bulb hanging from a couple wires

- no fixtures where wall sconces were, just wires sticking out of wall. Same in bathroom

- no light shades on some fixtures, just bare bulbs

- no garbage cans (arrived later after requested)

-no dish rags to wash dishes (arrived later)

-missing door knob on entrance dead bolt lock

-handle in bathroom not attached, son got trapped in bathroom

-dining table now a glass table with folding chairs (compare to picture)

- Wi-Fi didn't work, then worked with their help for a day, then out the rest of our visit

These were not minor issues and upon our return I contacted the owner requesting a partial refund (in reality should be a full refund) plus my damage deposit and after two follow-up messages I have yet to receive a response on what they intend to do to rectify the situation. The original request was sent six days ago and the only response I have received says they are discussing it. I had hoped to report that the owners had appropriately addressed the situation but unfortunately that is not the case. My next step is to contact VRBO to inquire if there is anything they can do.

A special vacation in Rome

  • 5 of 5

The apartment decorations are worth at least one visit: enchanting, quaint and elegant exactly as in the pictures. The staff was very nice, met us right on time, and made us feel very welcome for our first stay in Rome. They arranged everything perfectly providing us what we would need for two weeks. Some day before our departure we asked and had our pick-up to the airport without any problems. Wonderful location, close to many sitez, shops, restaurants, supermarkets. I would definitely stay again.

from the shadows of the ancient, winding streets of the historic center you suddenly come upon the breathtaking magnificence of Piazza Navona, born as a place of spectacle and still today a spectacular open air show; an architectural miracle in the heart of the Eternal City, filled with masterpieces in perfect harmony with each other.

This piazza, which displays the genius of Bernini and Borromini, is one of the finest Baroque Masterpiece in papal Rome. Its harmony and colors, combined with its elegance, give it a charm that is enhanced by the surprising contrast of architecturally sober houses alternating with a number of monumental Buildings.

Of all Rome's piazzas, this isola pedonale (pedestrian precinct) is one where the liveliness of Roman life is most tangible. It has long been a meeting place for the inhabitants of Rome. In past, in addition to the market, processions and spectacles where held here - included 'naumachiae', or mock naval battles.

Today life in the piazza revolves around the open-air-cafés and the seasonal fairs. Of these the most popular is the one held in December and early January where toys and crib figures are sold. Its theme if the Feast of Epiphany as well as Christmas, so la Befana (the Epiphany witch, who his roughly the Italian equivalent of Father Christmas) features prominently. In the summer the piazza provides a continous festival of painters, caricaturists, fortune-teller and buskers, who entertain visitors until the small hours.
