Hi my name is John Barnard, I live and work in Norfolk, England with my wife and our pet dog Millie. Our two children have grown up now but still visit us regularly or decide to come home to stay for a while! Having spent many golfing holidays on the Costa del Sol we decided to visit the Algarve for the first time in 2006. We instantly fell in love with the country and its people, so much so that we decided to invest in property here in Lagos. We bought our first two brand new properties at Porto de Mos which were ready for rental in July 2008, our second two which are closer to the old town of Lagos and the Praia Dona Ana beach are brand new for 2010. Vista Mar is a new development in Porto de Mos just 5 minutes walk from the Porto de Mos beach which has two excellent cafe/ restaurants/ bars. Vista Mar is a five minute drive from the ancient old walled town centre of Lagos with its varied range of shops, cafes restaurants and bars plus the very popular marina. Lagos is an up and coming tourist destination on the Algarve which is receiving serious investment in its infrastructure with improvements to its town centre and marina as well as the new motorway links to Faro airport. from the two apartments.
What makes this Apartment unique
The two apartments at Vista Mar are directly one above the other and can sleep up to a maximum of 12 people between them although 8 would be more comfortable. Beautifully furnished they offer a welcoming retreat should you be staying for a summer holiday, a long term winter let or an activity break. The apartments are managed for us locally by an English family Company (Algarve Accomodation Agency) meaning there is always someone on hand to meet and greet and help resolve any issues during your stay. Once you have decided to stay in one of the apartments the agency will issue a booking form, take a secure deposit and take you through your reservation to completion. Whether you take one apartment or both you will be sure to have a great time in a beautiful area of the Algarve.

The apartment was very sparse - no placemats/tablecloth, no juice squeezer, no cushions for outside very uncomfortable chairs, no sun bed mattresses, these were filthy someone came to clean them. No ornaments, curtains very flimsy, nylon cover on bed kept slipping off, light bulbs out in kitchen, bathroom and 1 lamp in bedroom. minimum towels, no rugs except in front room this was dirty. Noisy fan in bathroom, only 2 pot towels, no welcome pack. The whole apartment was sterile and unwelcoming having all black furniture. The map we were given didn't even have the full address. But worst of all was the constant noise from an angle grinder due to work happening on apartments at the back. This was known about from 2015 apparently yet we were not told of this prior to staying. Very small pool.

My agents in Lagos have informed me that they did pass by and clean up the outside sun loungers on the first day of your arrival as you have mentioned, for future guests I must point out these are stretch fabric loungers and with a towel on top there is no need for an extra cushion but this is something we may look to add as an additional comfort for guests.
The images shown on our advertising are accurate to how the apartment is presented so again I’m surprised you felt it was sparse but this is a holiday rental property and offers all that would be needed for a 7 – 14 night stay. Rugs are removed in the hot summers months as they do gather lots of sand etc… are not needed when the property is warm we do add these in the winter months for the cooler weeks. The bed toppers that slipped off are only meant to be decorative on top of the linen. And to protect the linen getting dirty when sitting on the beds etc…
We always leave a large towel and small towel per person and a couple of tea towels in the kitchen , the accommodation is self-catering and a washing machine is provided. Light bulbs would have been replaced if reported to the management and all lights are now working.
There is some works being finished off in the area the noise had not been reported so we were unaware this was a disturbance to you, I can only apologise for this.
Cozy and comfortable
Stayed for 6 weeks in this very clean and well equipped apartment. The building is very secure with good internet service. Great location as we love the outdoors. 5 minute walk to the ocean with two restaurants open year round . Also the local bus stops at the beach. 30 minute walk to the town of Lagos and 20 minute walk to major grocery store.
The noise from the construction work next to the apartments was very noisy at times , but we still enjoyed our stay . Good area to stay for birdwatching amd walking .
Hopefully not much longer now with the construction works, last year was very annoying for all concerned. As you say it is a lovely area.
Modern, clean and great location
The accommodation is very spacious and located in easy location of De Mos beach. Being so close to the pool was great with the kids as it allowed them very quick and easy access.
Antonio's restaurant over looking the beach serves great food. All in all very happy with our time here.
Nice appartment in a bad location
The appartment itself was nice, comfortable and modern. The outside furniture was a bit poor though. It only consisted of a small table and four chairs. The pool area was nice.
However, the views were not nice because of the big construction site in front of the house. There was also a lot of noise from the construction site, which made it difficult to enjoy spending time outdoors.
We didn't know about this beforehand, and were quite disappointed. There was no seaview at all (partial was promised), but the beach was very close.
Thank you for the positive comments regarding the apartment. Unfortunately building works commenced nearby with no warning to local property owners. At the time of booking there was a sea view! These works are due to be completed by early 2018 bringing peace back to the area.
Late review! Stayed here for 3 weeks in August 2014. What a gem. 10 mins from beach, great apartment with all mod cons. Really enjoyed our stay. Provided everything we needed and even though we know Lagos really well we had never stayed this part of the town. Great for our daughter with the pool, safe environment and 5 mins drive from town. As Arnie said - We'll be back! Highly recommended. Thank you John.
Its only a 5 minute walk or drive to the large golden sandy beach at Porto de Mos where you will find two very good restaurants which offer snacks, drinks or full meals including freshly caught fish either inside or on open terraces which can be covered in the evenings. These have great views out to the Atlantic Ocean.
The area boasts some great beaches at Meia Praia and the award winning Praia de Dona Ana. A visit to the lighthouse on the peninsula at Ponta Da Piedade is also well worthwhile.
The nearest International Airport is at Faro about 75km away and takes about 50 minutes by car via the A22 dual carriageway. Many major airports offer flights to and from Faro (budget airlines included). The whole of the Algarve is very easy to navigate and the best way to travel is by hire car. A hire car is easy to arrange and most useful if staying at the apartments for exploring the area, shopping at local supermarkets etc. A visit to the restaurants and bars in Lagos town is best by taxi.
