About Carol Knapp
This home has been in the family since it was built. Many memorable times have been shared among our family. My sons played on the beach here at Cayucos along with their cousins and now today not only myself but the cousins have grandchildren playing and enjoying this beach. I am the manager of the house. I am retired from a banking and financial occupation after working for more that 36 years in the field, 35 years at the same bank. I live in Bakersfield, CA where summers are in excess of 100 degrees so like many people, who live in the San Joaquin Valley, " the coast" is where we escape to. The picture I posted includes my son and daughter-in-law and my one and only grandchild.
Carol Knapp purchased this House in 1960
Why Carol Knapp chose Cayucos
The original grand parents that bought the empty lots the house was built on lived in Bakersfield also. They purchased the land around 1950. I wished we were as smart as they were, land was so much more affordable then.
What makes this House unique
Close to the beach that you can hear the ocean. Views of the ocean and in the opposite direction the mountains. Close for beach walks and when nature calls close to the house and 2.5 bathrooms! There is a pet seagull I named Heathcliff that visits every now and then looking for a treat and to my amazement he/she hasn't told his buddies. Morro Bay is close by but if you want to shop the bigger city San Luis Obispo is a 20 minute drive. SLO is a unique town to visit as well as Cambria to the North on HWY 1.

Christine, VRBO just posted your review. Thank you for the 5 star. I always value doing my best for my guests.
Perfect For Our Stay
The property is in the perfect spot. It's close to town and just a 2-minute walk to the beach. The rooms and beds are plentiful and the house is very clean. We enjoyed the upstairs living space where we gathered like we do in our own home. The kitchen is updated and has everything you need to cook should you choose to do so. When we return to Cayucos, we will definitely try to stay here again.
Close to the beach
Very clean and worked well for our family of 10. Easy access to beach and short walk to town. Lovely views of ocean from the upstairs decks.
Thank you so much Denice. It rained big time last night but right now it is so beautiful!
Families are impressed with your property's cleanliness.
Such a pleasant stays thank you Carol and we'll be back soon...
Thank you Quy Joseph Le! Kim liked you also! Will look forward to you staying again. We are in Greece and at Santorini the winds almost blew us off the cliff. It was not normally windy like that for so many days.
This property was a great location due to its proximity to the beach and the Paso wine country. Plenty of space for a group of women on a girls' trip. Host is hands-on and the guest rules are very detailed.
Carrie, Thanks so much for your wonderful review and looking forward to having you be guests again.
Big affordable house on the beach
We were in Cayucos for a wedding and rented this home for the weekend for us and a group of friends.
I was a bit nervous before arriving because we had waived the insurance and put down a LARGE cash deposit instead. No worries though, the owner promptly refunded our deposit after seeing that we left their home in great condition! Also, the owner was easy to communicate with before and during our stay. They even dropped off a coffee grinder at our request.
We arrived at the house and everything was in order. The home has an interesting layout with all the sleeping quarters down stars and all the common area up stairs.
The kitchen & living areas were nice. The bedrooms, beds, and bathrooms were clean.
The layout of the “rooms” in this house are interesting when staying with a bunch of adults. A few of the rooms are entry/exit ways into the home or must be walked through to gain access to other parts of the home. Not a bad thing at all, just unique. Our group of friends had no complaints about the layout but the home may be better suited to a few families, all of which the owner was very up front with!
Best of all, the price was very reasonable!!!
We’d definitely rent this home again if we found ourselves in the area.
Thank you Jameson. I am going to email you a picture of the new deck railing.
Located within walking distance of downtown Cayucos where there are many of the best antique shops and restaurants. Live music on Fri. and Sat. nights at the Cayucos Tavern and then if you want to drive to Cambria there is great nightlife with live music. Hearst Castle is a short drive away also. Morro Bay is 6 miles away and offers so many attractions and restaurants. Cayucos by-the-Sea is located on California’s scenic Central Coast, halfway between Los Angeles and San Francisco. Cayucos sits quietly between the Pacific Ocean and the rolling hillsides of open ranch land and is what some people call "the last of the California beach towns."
Listen to the quiet and stillness that only a small town in an untouched countryside can provide. Cayucos is the perfect remedy for those who suffer from the ills and frustrations of life in the fast lane in our crowded cities. Peaceful, underdeveloped ranch lands with cattle grazing on undulating, oak-crested hills provide a respite for the city weary. There is virtually no city noise, no traffic, no pollution and no crime in Cayucos
Cayucos is a California original.
Born during the days of Spanish land grants, Cayucos grew up with sailing ships and steamers, rum runners and revenuers. Gamblers and seafarers met in the Old Cayucos Tavern, and adventurers and romantics of all kinds still meet there today.
Cayucos, the tiny beach town that sits at the foot of the hills with its toes in the sand, awaits you and your exploration. So relax and come see what Cayucos has to offer you and enjoy our home for a nice vacation.
