Perfect place for a relaxing vacation with small children! (Bet you didn't know that was possible!)
I don't even know where to begin... the apartment itself was lovely. It is two floors, with a master bedroom upstairs and two twin beds. Chris generously arranged a pack n play for our 1 year old and our 5 year old loved choosing her bed. The downstairs has an open floor plan with plenty of places to sit, including a dining table and 2 couches. There were big sliding doors out to a balcony with some additional seating. The balcony overlooks the spritz restaurant and a canal beyond that. At night, the Spritz was totally happening. We would put the kids to bed and sit out on the patio and enjoy the hum of people relaxing. One night there was even a live band! It was noisy but the kids were so tired from a day of swimming that they passed right out! On site, there are several, easy kid-friendly restaurants. My only complaint was there wasn't a lot of seafood on the menus but there was bahamian mac n cheese and fried chicken at the twisted lime and pizza at the Spritz so it was easy to feed kids. It's about a five minute walk to a tiny lagoon beach which is calm even on windy days. Next to the lagoon beach is a salt water pool that also has a sandy ledge so it's easy and fun to go back and forth between the two. Plus there were two water slides which were super fun. Across the street, there are two more nice restaurants and a lovely beach which was great on calm days but too much for the kids when it was windy. I had heard that the beaches were full of people trying to sell you things and cruise ship passengers, but this was not our experience at all. We visited in March and did see other tourists, but they were all staying for more than an afternoon. And, I guess we didn't visit any of the beaches where there were people selling things. Chris was a great host and even arranged a high chair, which I sensed was a challenge. We couldn't be happier and were just sad to go home. Thanks for an amazing vacation!
I'm so happy you and your family enjoyed your stay Kate! It was a pleasure having you!
Great quiet location. Clean and functional.
The location is great if you want to be away from the hustle of downtown. A ride on bus #10 can get you there easily. We loved the two local restaurants in the complex. Spritz and Twisted Lime. Spritz even cooked up our fish we caught one day. The best part of the Bahamas is the hospitality of everyone including Chris who gave great suggestions for eating and entertainment. He provided some food basics in our room which made it very nice when we didn’t want to walk to the food store. Having 3 bathrooms was a huge bonus for the 5 of us. The sofa sleeper is really meant for a child not an adult but my teenage son made it work. We would definitely stay again if we return to the Bahamas. Thanks Chris for your kindness.
Mediocre. Needs updated.
I don't like leaving negative reviews but I feel it's necessary to add our thoughts and advice for future use of this condo. We were expecting a lot more out of this place. First off, it is not nearly equipped for 5 adults. The pull out couch which is one of the beds is severely uncomfortable and run down. Seating in the living room area is limited. We were also disappointed by the noise level from the restaurant across the street, it made it very difficult to sleep. Therefore, the location isn't great if you do not like loud noises, etc. However, the owner was very accommodating and helpful when we had questions pertaining to the rental which we appreciated. I feel this rental isn't great for families but would be more ideal for college students on spring break. We believe it could use some updates!
Home Away From Home
Myself and three girl friends stayed at the condo for a week and loved it! Everything we needed was within a stones throw of the condo including two restaurants, a pool, beaches, gas station, cafe... The condo had comfortable beds, sheets & lots of towels for both the beach and the condo. The jitney into downtown runs right by the development and is an easy 15-20 ride (just be aware it shuts down at about 630 or 7pm). Taxis can be hard to arrange on your own but just pop across the driveway to the Twisted Lime restaurant and they can get you one in no time.
The condo is spacious and had no problem accommodating four women, thought its more setup for a family with kids (maybe toss another hair dryer into the "kids" bathroom?). There is a dishwasher, blender, toaster, kettle...all the appliances you'll need. Air conditioner works great and cools the place down in no time so no need to leave it on when you go out.
Because the condo is not right downtown its a great place for a quiet retreat, though we still managed to hit downtown at least 4 nights (a $30 cab ride). Its really ideal for families, kids would love it and the calm canal beach is perfect for when the ocean is too rough, which is was for us the first couple of days.
The owner is fantastic, promptly replying to emails, being patient when our payment kept failing for some reason, giving us directions on how to work the tv when we wanted to watch The Bachelor, and more.
My only recommendations for the condo are - include basic supplies like salt, pepper, cooking oil, sugar, etc...(there was some stuff there but it was leftover from prior people and we had forgotten a couple basics at the grocery store). Also some face cloths (is that a North American thing??) and maybe a few more plates/cups/forks etc... so the dish washer doesn't have to be run so often.
This was truly a great condo to vacation at and we loved it.
Heads up for people for whom stairs are a problem. There is one flight from ground level to the condo and the condo also has a flight to the bedroom level. Not a problem in anyway (even for four girls with massive suitcases) but good to be aware of if you have mobility issues.
Thank you for this thoughtful review. As a result of this we will add another hair dryer , and ensure that basic cooking supplies are included. We will also add a full new set of plates, glasses, cutlery etc. Anything else you can think of that would improve the experience of future guests, do let us know. As a token of our gratitude, we will offer a 10% discount should you chose to book with us again.
Hope to see you back in the Bahamas soon.
Very nice place. Looks just like it does in the photos.
A most enjoyable place to stay and just hang out. And our host couldn't have been more accommodating. Excellent location. Grocery store is an easy 13-minute walk and the gorgeous beach is a 5-minute walk directly across the road. (They drive on the left side of the road so pedestrians need to remain vigilant at all times!) The beach is owned by the complex, but the public has access. That said, it was far less crowded than the private resort beaches in town. Great place to just sit, read a book, and enjoy the white sand and turquoise water. Temps were mild in the 80s with low humidity and (for the most part) soft breezes. Also, a very nice restaurant is conveniently located right on the beach. The Spritz Wine Bar & Restaurant is a 30-second walk from the condo door and has amazing food. The Conchiglia Di Pesce Gratinata is mind expanding as is the ravioli stuffed with lobster, The pizza (#14) with sausage, artichokes, and sun-dried tomatoes is awesome. The Bahamian lobster tail is pricey but well worth it. Also within a 30-second walk is a quaint coffee shop that puts out a mean omelet for such a small place. The Twisted Lime sports bar is probably a 90-second walk from the condo door. Great place for a cold beverage and some TV. The shrimp & fish tacos are terrific. If you like wings, go with the guava bbq. Trust me. A taxi (or jitney as they call them there) ride anywhere is only $1.25. Recommend doing "the tourist thing" at least one day by going into town. Highly recommend taking a jitney to The Poop Deck restaurant east of downtown. Beautiful waterfront view of the marina and Paradise Island. Outstanding food. We treated lunch like dinner and ordered just caught fish cakes and conch chowder. Amazing. The grilled Mahi Mahi on lime slaw is just stupid crazy good. Ditto seafood lovers delight. For those who don't do stairs well the absence of an elevator may be a problem. But otherwise a nice place to stay for a week.
Fabulous spot, great location and superb owners!
We had an amazing time at this condo! We don't like the hustle and bustle of large hotels and have only been doing VRBO for our vacations. We enjoy the privacy and the savings of eating 2 meals a day in the condo with 5 of us! The updates are super and we were very comfortable with a family of 5. We brought a box of dry goods with us and then bought perishables once we arrived at the local grocery. Ate breakfast and lunch in the condo and then went out for dinner each night . Very convenient to the public beach which was never really busy and absolutely beautiful water and sand! We spent time at the pool and Inlet beach as well which was very nice. Excellent restaurants right there and we also took the jittney many times which was a highlight of the trip! Owners went above and beyond with questions about local things to do as well as providing beach chairs and a cooler! Highly recommend !
The Nebruck house condominium lies within Sandyport, and offers luxurious living amidst an array of fine residences, a beach, canals, restaurants, shops and tennis courts. The condo is furnished tastefully and equipped with major modern essentials. Nebruck is also in close proximity to the airport, downtown Nassau and tourist haven, Atlantis on Paradise Island.
