2 Bedrooms, 1 Bath, Sleeps 6
This property is located on Sunset Lake in Alton New Hampshire. Sunset Lake is considered to be one of the cleanest most pristine lakes in the region. Imagine waking up in the morning and walking out on the screened in porch having your cup of coffee in the morning 75 feet from the water. Life doesn't get any better!
This cottage offers two bedrooms. One has a double size bed. The other bedroom sleeps four with 2 sets of bunk beds. There is an inside half bathroom. The shower facility is outdoors and is enclosed, part of the rustic charm.
This is a great place for a calm, relaxing get away. There is not the constant boating activity you get at Lake Winnipesaukee, so this is a place where you can get peace and quiet to relax. On a typical summer day the water is generally flat calm in the morning and the evening. There is a fire pit right on the beach to enjoy the view, the ambiance and the starlit sky's. Sunset Lake also offers excellent fishing with a good variety of bass, pickerel, perch and bluegill which you can enjoy on the private dock.
For those familiar with the area this location is unique and considered a gem. It is accessible through an unpaved road, so if you are looking for place to get away from all the activity this is an ideal place. Plus it has everything you need so that you do not need to make continuous trips to town. It is ideal for arriving, unpacking and just enjoying nature for the balance of your visit.

Beautiful, very clean & quiet. Well equipped with friendly owners
Enjoyed a long w/e over Labor Day. This spot is a quintessential lake front cottage. Only improvement needed was the weather, but even with a few cool rainy days the fireplace made it cozy. Also enjoyed the screened porch, fire pit w/ wood, & walks in the woods.
What a great stay at this cozy cabin on Sunset Lake. The property was right on the water, not any beach, but had a dock, and the water was crystal clear. Very clean, with updated kitchen and bath. The outdoor shower wasn't a hassle at all. Nice screened porch made coffee in the morning a delight when looking out onto the lake. Great spot.
Beautiful and peaceful
We had a wonderful week at this lovely cottage on Sunset Lake - a very quiet, peaceful alternative to busy, larger lakes. The cottage is clean, convenient, well furnished but simple. The large screened porch is the best spot in the house. Dock and 3 steps down to the water, great for swimming and especially kayaking in the pristine water. Other highlights- lots of loon calls and a great fire pit. The perfect place to completely relax.
Very Pleasant Stay in Otober
I stayed with my dog for the whole month of October, using the cabin as a base while I house hunted. The lake is quite beautiful and the people I met were extremely welcoming. The best way to describe the cabin is to think what it would like for a friend or family member to invite you to stay at their lake front property. This is a treat especially since owning a place like this is so expensive in NH. Don't look for a highly commercial resort but rather an opportunity to experience lakeside living in New Hampshire in someone's home.
Had a lovely and very relaxing stay. The cottage is cozy and comfortable with a lovely screened-in porch overlooking the lake. It was so quiet (we were there early September). I think the only sound we heard were the loons calling. It is about a 15-20 minute ride to a supermarket and any restaurants--not that that is a bad thing, just something to consider. Kevin, the owner, was also great. Checked in to make sure everything was OK and see if there was any information we needed on things to do in the area. He was also very responsive if we had any questions.
Wonderful stay on a pristine lake!
The best thing about this property was location location location. Overlooking pristine Sunset Lake the water was so clear you could see the bottom. My husband myself and our 40 pound dog Max stayed a week. We spent many hours sitting on the dock enjoying the sun, reading and taking a dip when we got too hot. The screened-in porch that overlooks the lake was the perfect spot for eating each evening, listening to the crickets and watching the light change over the lake. The cottage is rustic with an outdoor shower. It was clean and comfortable. The full size bed was very comfortable and at night it was so quiet and dark we slept wonderfully. We had brought our tandem kayak and enjoyed several tours of the lake enjoying the loons and the friendly people who live around the lake. Nearby we had the opportunity to do some hiking from the more challenging Mount Major to a relaxing walk up Locke Hill. We primarily dealt with Kevin, who was welcoming, friendly and obviously interested that we enjoy our stay. He responded to questions both by phone and by text and got back to us within a short amount of time with any questions we had. We had a good experience and thoroughly enjoyed our time at this property.
