About Cassandra Hazen
We have lived on the Big Island since 2003, originally from California, we relocated here for our retirement. We live here most of the year, and enjoy running our business the Holualoa Inn, and our Brazen Hazen Coffee.
Cassandra Hazen purchased this Farmhouse in 2005
Why Cassandra Hazen chose Kailua-Kona
I purchased Lako Hale coffee farm because I fell in love with it's charm and location. We grow our signature 100% Kona coffee here called Brazen Hazen. We decided to turn this into a vacation rental so we could share it's uniqueness with other travelers. This property boasts of a wonderful serenity as well as an abundance of fruit trees that the guests can enjoy!
What makes this Farmhouse unique
The cool elevation of this up country coffee farm makes it the perfect place to come home to after a day at the beach! Cool mornings lend itself to lighting a fire and taking in the wonderous ocean views. The carved Balinese entry doors were brought back on one of our trips to Indonesia, and are the the gateway to the lush garden view, as you make your way to the upper level. The open design of the home makes it a perfect fit for a reunion or family gathering. The sunsets from this location are spectacular, something to look forward to each day!

Secluded but easily accessible Hawaiian oasis
Lako Hale was perfect for our family -- up above the trees with a gorgeous view; daily sundowners; easy access to everything we could need; manageable day trips around the island; more avocados than we could eat, right off the land!; lovely, relaxing decor; and, everything one needed in a home away from home. Rick was friendly and very helpful -- many thanks to him for the information he provided on everything!
Much mahalo for choosing Lako Hale for your Big Island vacation and for taking the time to write this lovely review. We're delighted to read how much you enjoyed your stay. Wishing you a happy, healthy new year. Cassandra
Beautiful farm, beautiful views, private open space, 100% Hawaiian
My colleague and I rented the Lako Hale property for the Kona IRONMAN and we couldn't have been happier with the property. The property itself was gorgeous, the sunsets were incredible, it was incredibly spacious, and very quiet and remote while only being a short 10-15 minute drive away from town. Would highly recommend Lako Hale to anyone vacationing to Kona who enjoys having a quiet and remote place to spend their nights after exploring the big island during the day.
Mahalo nui loa for this wonderful review and for choosing our Lako Hale Coffee Estate for your Ironman adventure!
Very relaxing and peaceful place to stay.
We enjoyed our stay very much, largely because it was carefree. The unit was a welcome refuge from daily travels away from constant commercialism. We were disappointed in the lack of comfortable furniture and complete privacy. Both were a surprise to us. Yes there is a television but programming access was very basic. The kitchen was well equipped and we loved the BBQ. The view from the deck is awesome. Very peaceful !! I only stayed 9 nights but was charged for 10. There must be some mix up.
It was a pleasure speaking with you today and I'm glad we resolved the 9 vs. 10 night billing confusion. In addition, as I mentioned over the phone, we are already working to improve the comfort of the furniture. Much mahalo for your feedback! We view guest feedback as a gift as it provides us the opportunity to further enhance our guests’ experience. Most important, we are delighted that you enjoyed your time at Lako Hale. Aloha nui loa, Kathryn and your Holualoa Inn Ohana
