Beautiful few days away in a gorgeous cottage.
Booking and payment easy via HomeAway. Did not really need to contact the owners but there is a file with full information in and contact numbers, for them and local services. The cottage was very clean, comfortable and had everything required and is more spacious than it appears in the description. Close to the areas we wished to visit. The car was parked safely in front of the cottage. Great pub a few minutes walk away, The Crown. Booking in advance advisable as closed a few nights midweek and Sunday night, also very popular. There is also The Blacksmiths Arms a traditional pub with a friendly host, a pool table and good prices, food not served anymore I believe. The cottage is a great base for walking, literally from the doorstep or a short drive to park and walk. The High Force and Low Force Falls a must, short drive to Barnard Castle and Bowes Museum. Lovely visit to Durham and the Cathedral. One small negative, our adult daughters did not find the single beds comfortable although that is a purely personal opinion. All in all a lovely cottage, a wonderful place to stay in a beautiful location. If in the area to stay in the future I would not hesitate to book again.
