About christine neaves
I have a husband, three children with four grandchildren. We live in England but we all holiday in the Algarve as often as we possibly can. We have made many friends there. We chose a property in the Western Algarve because the area is natural and beautiful and the sun shines there around 300 days a year! Our village property stands at the front of the resort with a spectacular sea view from every room. It has a roof terrace with the most amazing view ! It's only a five minute walk to Salema, a small fishing village, with it's clean sandy beach, restaurants and bars. We use the property for a romantic getaway, a family get together and golf/spa breaks. There's something for us all.
christine neaves purchased this House in 2008
Why christine neaves chose Salema
We love the area because it is easy to find and it is not overcrowded. The landscape is natural. The locals are friendly and helpful. Most of the Portuguese speak English. It is peaceful and calming. The local food and wine is excellent. We sometimes eat out, bbq on the balcony or have a local take away. There is a great night life in Lagos and on the Marina. Parking is free and easy. We find we can escape the stress of every day life here and return home fully recharged.
What makes this House unique
Property has front position on the resort with uninterrupted spectacular coastal views. Free parking. Every convenience necessary is within 5 minutes walking distance or 10 minutes driving distance.

Gorgeous view, good base for exploration
Pros: convenient home for two couples, lots of terraces to enjoy the great weather, terrific restaurants in Salema, good communication with Resorts Rentals Algarve, great base location to drive to Sagres, Forte Figeiria, Lagos and more. This home is situated uphill from the beach town of Salema--about a15 minute walk. The best part of this town is the lovely people who live here and share their beautiful town with you. If you enjoy fresh seafood , ocean views, lots of sun, quiet times away from crowds-- this is the place for you.
Cons: for older people.walking to the town / restaurants is challenging . We drove down part way & walked. The house was clean, the clothes washer worked--but not completely properly. The hair dryerhad been 'toasted' by a previous renter--took more than a day to get a replacement. Initial supplies such as toilet paper, paper towels, soap were very limited.
Bottom line--we had a great time! Come here to relax and enjoy!
Superb property with fantastic views and all modern conveniences
I have been staying in Salema on holidays for nearly 40 years, but the first time at this particular property. The instructions for booking were fairly simple, and the communication with the agents in Portugal was good with fluent english speaking guides - Paulo. He met us at the property and went through all the intros.
The views are as good as I imagined, probably the best view of anywhere I have stayed previously in Salema. It was quiet on the estate as was beginning of Sept 3-13th that we stayed but this made our stay even better with ample parking, sunbeds around the pool and a tranquil atmosphere on the estate. This property easily accomodates 4 adults with their own bedrooms and en suites which are all plush, with good showers, fluffy towels ( changed after around a week or 5 days in our case ) and the property was well cleaned upon our arrival. Plenty of wardrobe space and a lovely kitchen if you cooked in. We used the new BBQ a couple of times, but otherwise ate out in the many restaurants of Salema and Burgau nearby. Didnt use the British TV much other than for music channel although there is a HiFi too - take some CDs, A small library of books too to read if you wish. We watched the sunrise over the hill on the balcony a couple of times before breakfast , went to the many beaches most days and then used the nearly empty pool in the late afternoons. The pool is also clean and tidy, and the water warm. The only downside is the hill up to the house late at night. We lazily drove to the Salema beach to avoid one walk back up in the afternoons as it was still so hot in Sept, but walked off dinner and wine in the evenings on the trek back up. If you have a walking disability then I guess you may need to drive back down in the evenings if you wished to.avoid this albeit we used it as part of our daily exercise ! Overall, we will definitely be visiting again next year and would love to stay here again. It was truly a top notch property and the best that I have stayed at in Salema. Thank you for letting us stay here ! Until the next time ........
Lovely villa, beautiful view & location
Lovely villa with the best view at The View. Very well furnished internally, with everything you will need. Great facilities as well with the pool. We will definitely return to this villa. We were very well managed by Paulo as well.
An absolute gem in a perfect location
We are huge fans of Salema as a location where you can still get a feel of the genuine Algarve so were delighted to find this property. We had been asked to contact the owners representative with an indication of arrival time and Paulo was there to greet us. He gave us a thorough explanation of what was available in the villa and showed us how the comprehensive range of appliances worked along with the English Channel TV service. The property was equipped with a high speed wi-fi system. Everywhere was beautifully furnished and spotlessly clean. The kitchen had all the equipment you could reasonably expect, although with so many excellent and reasonably priced restaurants in the village it was not used very much ! Both bedrooms were a good size and the beds were very comfortable and both had a large en suite bathroom. Outside we were spoilt for choice with viewing terraces on three levels, one grassed and tiled area outside the bedrooms, their being on level 1, a well furnished terrace with tables, chairs, gas barbecue and a large and effective parasol at level 2, the living room level, and finally there was a viewing deck right on top of the house, all giving wonderful views out to sea and over the village. At the time we were there (early June) it was delightfully quiet and most of the time all we could hear were the birds singing. The communal pool area was large, clean and well equipped and very close to the villa. A large number of parking spaces were available in the street outside the villa. In summary I would have no hesitation in recommending the property and would say it is very much worth driving those few extra miles from Faro ( I think it was about 75 minutes on a very good and traffic free motorway) to get away from some of the more touristy resorts.
Lovely property with amazing view
We have stayed before and returned because we love the area . The house has everything you could need. And more !
Beautiful views and a lovely and well appointed property made of week away very special. We had everything we needed including the weather!
Very helpful owner and local agent who ensured our stay was perfect
At Parque da Floresta, 5 minutes drive from the property, there are 3 putting greens, 4 floodlit tennis courts, a bowling green, a Health & Beauty Spa and Fitness Centre with indoor pool, sauna, jacuzzi and steam room. For younger people there is the Castaways Fun and Games Bar, Floresta Fun Club, Activ8 and Parque Football Academy which are all seasonal.
The coastal fishing village of Salema and the Atlantic Ocean is just a five minute walk away where you will find a beautiful clean sandy beach, a few shops, restaurants and bars. A 15 minute drive will take you to the surfing beaches of the west coast or quiet coves used by scuba divers and snorkelers. A 20 minute drive into Lagos offers trips to caves, grottos and dolphin watching.
Faro is the nearest airport. It is an easy drive to Salema along the motorway and takes around an hour. Car hire is recommended for exploring the area. Recommendations for Car Hire may be given upon request.
20km to Lagos for restaurants, markets, shops and marina. 17 km to Sagres. Cape St Vincent lighthouse, cliffs and stunning sunsets is a 20 minute drive away. Budens village is a five minute drive with a well stocked supermarket, petrol station and cash point.
