The apartment forms part of a quad of four per detached building, with a total of only nine quads on this location. This gives an air of tranquility away from all the noise and yet within easy reach of local amenities and attractions. Recently refurnished to a high specification and used as a second home by its owners, it is centrally located adjacent to the 10th fairway of the beautiful Pestana Alto Golf Course and is approximately 220 metres from the superb recently refurbished clubhouse, with wi-fi access.There is a swimming pool and a small toddler’s pool situated 30 metres away at the rear of the apartment. The beach is 15 minutes walk and the pretty fishing village of Alvor and its lovely estuary promenade and abundance of good restaurants is only 5 minutes drive. The location of the apartment is such that many other places of interest and further beautiful Algarvian beaches are only relatively short car journeys away. In particular the town of Lagos with its old town centre and abundance of good restaurants along with its modern marina and the superb Meia Praia beach are a must. About Mr John Randall
We are a retired couple from Warwickshire. We purchased the apartment in 2008 following the sale of our apartment in Australia. We had been to Portugal a number of times previously and always thought what a lovely climate it was. We were also warmed by the hospitable friendly nature of the people and the wonderful scenery and fantastic beaches within easy reach. This coupled with the Southern Mediterranean climate, lifestyle and wonderful local food and wine, made it a must to purchase an apartment for use as a second home where our friends and family visit us regularly. Since our purchase we have made many friends and the friendships we are sure will be long lasting.

Why Mr John Randall chose Portimão
Having been to various parts of the Algarve previously we found the western part by far the most inviting, especially the local historical fishing village of Alvor which as changed little over the years. Behind the facade of tourism Alvor still remains a tranquil fishing village and still retains its charm, sitting aside a beautiful extensive estuary and long sandy beaches where the local fishing boats deliver their daily catch to the fish market and local restaurants. We purchased the apartment for its quiet location adjacent to the 10th fairway of Alto Golf Course and within walking distance a beautiful unspoilt sandy beaches (10/15minutes). The location also provides easy access to local amenities shops and attractions and a short car journey away from places like the Monchique Hills.
What makes this Apartment unique
All guests staying in the apartment will find it extremely therapeutic with the surrounding extensive grounds. The large elevated front terrace with views over the golf course & beyond to the Monchique Hills gives an air of relaxed tranquility. The front terrace has double glazed sliding window units which can be opened or closed to suit. Both front and rear terraces provide shade and cool during the hot summer months and both are suitable for Alfresco dining. In addition there is a covered garage area under the apartment for guests to park their cars. There is also a shared swimming pool including toddlers pool at the rear of the apartment This is equipped with sun beds and sun shades for guests use. Golf at slightly reduced fees are also offered to guests staying at the apartment.

An amazing apartment that is situated in a beautiful peaceful setting
A lovely 2 bedroom and 2 bathroom apartment which was furnished beautifully and it came with beautiful views over a quiet gold course. A pool to the rear with plenty of loungers. Many hours spent relaxing around it.
The local beaches of which there were lots of were all stunning and lovely and clean, lots of pretty villages and towns to visit in the area.

Although the apartment is located on Alto Golf Course it is within easy reach of some of the most stunning beaches and coastline along the Algarve. The nearest being Vau Beach which is under 15 minutes walk. At low tide one can walk east along this beach to The Presidents Beach and continue onto the extensive Rocha beach towards the new Marina. Going in a westerly direction there is a beautiful headland walk towards Alvor Village which takes about 40 minutes.
Alvor has two boardwalks along the back of the beach. Construction of the easterly boardwalk has only been completed in autumn 2016 and as opened up beach area access and gives stunning views over Alvor beach. This is a real plus to holidaymakers.
Arrival by air to the Algarve is into Faro Airport, this is approximately 75km
from Alvor and the journey time to the apartment is 50-55minutes. The airport is linked to the western Algarve via the A22 motorway (this is now tolled & at present will cost €5,72 each way). A taxi will cost approximately 60 euros each way. Alternatively it is recommended to hire a car (either at the airport or locally on arrival) especially to explore the area. Pre booking booking via the internet is advisable.
Although car hire gives greater flexibility, there is a good local bus service available which will take you into the city of Portimao (4km) and also westerly into Lagos (17km). There is also a train service which travels to the Portuguese capital Lisbon in the north and extends from Lagos in the west to the eastern Algarve and the Spanish border. However to visit the ancient town of Silves, the Monchique Mountains,Lagos and beaches west of Lagos it is better to have the use of a car.
Alvor Fishing Village sits on the edge of an extensive natural picturesque estuary which provides stunning views and is home to a wild life sanctuary. In recent times a waterside promenade has been constructed where locals and holiday makers alike can enjoy the wonderful vista. A web of narrow cobbled streets takes you into the old village passed many local houses. In these streets there are an abundance of good restaurants which serve local fish dishes from the fishermen’s daily catch.
One can also visit the quayside fish restaurants and back street restaurants in Portimao where the locals from this working city eat at much less cost. If one as a car there are a number of good quality eating places in the countryside within a reasonable distance of the apartment. Apart from beach activities there are other venues to suit children these include Slide and Splash and Zoomarine. Bikes can also be hired. For football enthusiasts Portimao nearby has a local football team and small stadium. Further afield along the A22 towards Faro Airport there is the Algarve Stadium where many well known Portuguese teams play.
There are a number shops and supermarkets at various locations. A new shopping area called AQUA has just opened it is situated off the V6 ring road in Portimao. There is also Continente supermarket in Portimao. For shopping enthusiasts a visit to the Algarve Shopping Centre at Gia is worth a visit. This is situated about 30 minutes east of Alvor on the N125. English is widely spoken at most of the locations and restaurants around the area. ATM cash machines are readily available at all major shopping outlets and in Alvor village.
Metered taxis can be acquired should guests want a drive free good night out in Alvor. Guests can book one at the golf club reception which is approximately 200m from the apartment, the price is around 6 euros each way. Alternatively ring direct on a mobile.
