Cottage in Kilconquhar, near Elie, Fife, Scotland - Idyllic country location on edge of village, 1 mile to Elie and 10 mins St Andrews
About lynn gray
My family and I love Fife, particularly the East Neuk with it's quaint seaside villages. With 2 young children there is plenty to keep them entertained and to make sure that we all get the best of the great outdoors. I am a designer so doing up the cottage was a passion for me and means that we enjoy the indoors just as much. Putting on the log-burning stove on a chilly night makes Inisheer a cosy refuge ideal for entertaining.

Why lynn gray chose Leven
Inisheer is just a mile from Elie's award-winning beach and has a lovely garden with glorious views over the surrounding countryside. This all made us fall in love with the house and the area. It is perfectly placed for cliff-top walks, days on the beach, golf is all around and it's only 13 minutes drive from St Andrews for any essential retail therapy/cinema/theatre etc. There are great restaurants nearby from famous fish and chips to top rated gourmet restaurants. A free mini-bus servoce runs to the 2 best pubs and restaurants in nearby Elie.
What makes this Cottage unique
The cottage is laid out and equipped with everything I would wish at home including powerful walk-in shower, high quality beds, original artwork plus beautiful furniture and lighting from my own retail stores. Cooking is important to me so an extra large fridge and freezer are in situ as well as a full range of cooking equipment and of course the obligatory dishwasher! The kitchen is of a high quality hand-painted design with granite work-surfaces.
100% refund if canceled at least 60 days before arrival date.
Overall very nice and I/we would certainly book it again.
One single bathroom for a cottage that sleeps 8 is a key consideration; even with only 3 of us staying it was a bit of a challenge.
Also recommend that all the cupboards should be sorted through and cleaned properly; there was a lot of what appeared to be previous peoples 'leftover junk' which left very little space for storage of our belongings.
The addition of a mirror in the second upstairs bedroom should also be considered.
As stated, I/we would book the cottage again.
Great place for kids with the swing and climbing frame in the garden and so safe, away from roads. Having the fields to the front just added to the tranquillity.
Ideal size for the 8 of us, although the beds in the wee room were only suitable for kids - which suited us.
Great location for a day trip to the Isle of May and along the coast to Elie, Crail and St Andrews.
Very happy we chose Inisheer
Perfect house to stay to explore beautiful Fife
We had some difficulty finding the house as sat nav sent us somewhere else! The friendly locals helped us out and we soon found the property.
Clean, tidy house with plenty of room for us all. The house had everting we needed for cooking and relaxing. The front and back gardens are great and the kids played badminton/tennis and other ball games along with regular trips to the village playpark.
The beach is a five minute drive and it is beautiful.
Lovely stay...apart from not being able yo work the shower, loved Inisheer and would definitely return
Charming & cosy country cottage.
A beautifully renovated traditional home with everything you need and more for a family stay. Our party had a great time here celebrating my father-in-law's 60th birthday. The house was ideal for our family set up and the children loved all the nooks and crannies. There are some great walks around the village and a lovely wee football pitch (essential when you've got active boys with you!) and play park just 2 minutes walk from the house.
So glad you had an enjoyable stay and thank you for your kind words about the cottage.
Come again soon!
Lovely house, quiet location
Enjoyed our stay which provided ample space for our party of eight, loved the fire and comfy beds. Beautiful village and very quiet.
3 minutes by car, a lovely 30 minute walk or the local, regular bus and you arrive at the beautiful beaches in Elie and Earlsferry. Or, if you prefer, there is a lovely 35 minute woodland walk along the side of the loch which brings you out past Elie House and into the centre of Elie. The trail is ideal for kids on bikes.
Edinburgh airport is under an hour away. A car would be great but not essential for exploring the seaside villages along coast to St Andrews.
Regular bus services make local and longer distance travel easy.
