The apartment is on the first floor and has 2 good size balconies which both have wonderful views. There are floor to ceiling windows in the apartment which make it beautifully light and expose the stunning scenery. New in 2009, the apartment was built to a good standard and thoughtfully furnished by us for our own use. It offers everything you need for either a relaxing break or as a base for an inspiring/adventurous holiday. An English speaking agent will meet you, guide you to and show you round the accommodation. The agent will also be on hand throughout your stay to assist you with any queries or difficulties. The apartment is set on the lower slopes of Europe's most southerly fjord. There is excellent walking all round and the UNESCO World Heritage site of Kotor Old Town is a 20 minute waterside walk away. Easily accessible from airports at Dubrovnik, Podgorica or, most conveniently, Tivat, Muo is a charming waterside village with a direct view of Kotor Old Town fortifications. Floodlit at night and reflected in the water of the bay, they make a truly unforgettable sight.

About Francesca Woodhams
Hello, my name is Francesca and I work in special educational provision for children and adolescents. I bought the apartment as a bolthole for myself and my then teenage children after the sudden death of my husband and we kept the apartment as our retreat. However, it is no longer possible for us all to visit regularly and so I made the decision to let. Initially, I had my heart set on finding an old, traditional, stone house, but I found myself putting down an off plan deposit on a new build apartment after seeing its wonderful location. I have never regretted it. It is much easier to look after and we have a great community of owners at Kotor View. The family loves the apartment and has taken pride in furnishing it. It is a home from home that we are pleased for others to enjoy.
Francesca Woodhams purchased this Apartment in 2009
Why Francesca Woodhams chose Muo
I chose Montenegro because it has everything in a relatively compact area; long coastline, mountains, forests, lakes, not to mention the stunning fjord, Boka Kotorska, and fascinating history. Economy of scale gives intimacy and the pace of life is easy. I always feel I can holiday to suit my mood,ie. relax at the waterfront or in the cobbled squares of the Old Town,go up into the mountains for the wildlife and flowers, visit churches,Roman mosaics, old forts, etc.go in/on the water. It is also a fact that it is not possible to take a non-scenic route anywhere in Montenegro! I was keen on our site above Muo for its breathtaking views over the fjord and its tranquility, but also because of its proximity to the old town of Kotor, the Adriatic and Tivat and easy access to Podgorica and Dubrovnik.
What makes this Apartment unique

A lovely apartment. Everything we needed was there. The view was amazing.
Apartment was lovely. The church next door rang its bells at 7am every morning and made us feel part of Kotor.
Beautiful pool with loads of loungers.
The pictures cannot do the view justice. Huge cruise ships came in every morning. We saw dolphins in the bay looking across to Kotor Old Town.
White water rafting is a must....be prepared to get wet!
Climb the Old Town fortress walls for the views.
We went to Budva Aquapark one day. Some great rides. Some scary ones too!
It takes 30 to 40 minutes to walk to Kotor Town but the taxi will only cost €2.50.
Use the "Red Taxi" phone 19719. Sort your phone before going or be charged £6 a day for calls and £1.80 to send or receive every text.
Remember, you are in an apartment, so there will be some noise from your neighbours.
We went to the beach lots. The water is warm and clear and very safe. You will see and swim with many fish. The beach is made up of small stones so don't expect long sandy beaches and the tide only goes out about 1.5m!
We would definitely return to Kotor, and to this apartment. It was a fantastic holiday.
Stunning views but overall disappointing
The apartment, in essence, is pleasant with stunning views over to Kotor Old Town. However, the 'road' to the apartment is a dirt track at the end of which you are greeted by a burnt out car and dumper truck. It is a long walk to the Old Town (at least 45 minutes) and was not particularly pleasant when it was dark. The bedsheet on the main bed was marked, there was old furniture on the balconies that needed either replacing or staining/painting, no toaster, no corkscrew and no bottle opener. The TV didn't work when we arrived but this was fixed for us. We do not generally watch TV on holiday but when we wanted to watch the World Cup Football we could not find a single channel out of over 200 that showed this. Also, there was only one English speaking channel, BBC World News. There was no guest information folder evident - we found this by chance in the TV cabinet on our last night. The guest information suggested there would be a welcome pack but there was not so I guess it was probably out of date. To top it all we were woken each morning at 07:00 by a church bell no more than 100 metres away. Added to that, on our final morning we were woken by hammering and drilling at 05:30. We appreciate that this is out of the control of the apartment but it was not a nice experience whilst on holiday.
Kotor Old Town is beautiful and we are glad we visited Montenegro to see it, however, overall we were disappointed with our apartment.
I did email these points to Francesca upon our return home but, unfortunately, I have received no response.
We were saddened to receive this review as we have received so many positive and appreciative messages in the many years that I have been letting the apartment. It is untrue to say that I have not responded to Karen's comments; I responded at length on the Homeaway website and clearly this can be verified.
In my response, I took care to address Karen's points in turn.
To be more specific: the access road to the apartment consists of two thirds tarmac, the remainder is so far unadopted but perfectly passable by car or on foot. Our higher location is what gives us our breathtaking views.
Karen is the only person to mention the church bell. We have always loved the proximity of the old church and have featured it in our photographs so that people have a clear idea of what to expect.
We retain the services of a very good agent to address any problems, queries or difficulties guests may come across during their stay at our apartment. On occasion, items do go missing from the apartment and I can assure guests that items such as a corkscrew, bottle opener and toaster can be replaced within ten minutes if the agent is contacted. In this case, the agent was not informed and so was unaware.
The use of stained bed linen is regrettable and I have reiterated instructions to the housekeepers that any stained linen returning from the laundry should be discarded. I agree that these kind of oversights should not occur but such an incidence will always be addressed immediately if reported. On this occasion, it was not reported.
I can reassure guests that old cars and diggers have no connection to Kotor View apartments, neither do any minor works. I have asked the agent to look into this matter.
The cabinet on which the television is situated is the only storage facility in the lounge/dining area and therefore where the guest information folder is located. Any confusion over this would be addressed speedily by the agent who is only too willing to assist.
I have thanked Karen for her observations about the balcony tables and chairs and have taken steps to address them.
We are dismayed by this review and are disappointed by the fact that only the difficulty with the television was raised with the agent, resulting in disappointment all round.
Mooie woning , prachtig uitzicht

A feature of the location is that access to the fjord for swimming or promenading is open at all points along its winding coastline. Each part of the coast has its own local flavour, each waterside cafe or restaurant its own identity. There is much to discover close at hand or, of course, further afield, all according to your inclination. A drive of 15 minutes will take you to larger beaches, and, meandering south, you will encounter many more stunning beaches. Boating can be arranged locally.
The nearest airport is Tivat, a 15 minute drive from the apartment, but because it is behind the mountains the planes are neither seen nor heard! Also Dubrovnik Airport is 90 minutes away by car and Podgorica Airport is 2 hours away. A car is not essential as both taxis and buses are inexpensive and easy to access. However, it is simple to book car hire from any of the airports. The use of a car is convenient, particularly from the farther airports, and naturally will give more flexibility.
Montenegro is a compact country (roughly the size of Wales) and it is unique due to its expansive coastline and diverse scenery. Muo is on the doorstep of Lovcen National Park and within easy reach of Montenegro's other World Heritage Site, the famous island of Sveti Stefan. Cetinje, the country's former capital, the charming, picturesque small town of Perast, Budva and Becici resorts are among numerous and varied locations for a medium range excursion. Glamorous Tivat Marina is 15 minutes away.
Further afield is Lake Skadar straddling the Albanian border, the port of Bar from which ferries depart for Italy, the wine growing region, Tara canyon and Ostrog Monastery, built into the cliff face, to name just a few places of interest. There is a small, local food shop below the apartment on the waterfront, accessed by steps. A good restaurant can also be found here. More food shops and butchers are situated on the way into Kotor and banks, post office, restaurants and cafes in abundance and a large, daily market are at the Old Town itself. The atmosphere in Kotor is pleasantly cosmopolitan, with a good mix of locals and tourists. The architecture and flagstone squares and alleyways are fascinating. It is very easy to spend time here, exploring or observing local life at the many open air cafes. The majesty and proximity of the surrounding mountains is always in evidence within the town and there is the added interest of the superyachts and cruise liners that call in here.
Even more glamorous is the huge and brand new luxury marina at Tivat, 15 minutes away. Again, set among stunning scenery, it is visited by craft belonging to many of the world's billionaires. Adjacent to the marina the wide, sun drenched promenades at Tivat have the very local and relaxed, family friendly atmosphere that typifies the Kotor Bay area.
