About the Property
3 Cabanas, Yurt, Camping, Outdoor Tropical Showers, 80 Acre Rainforest, Ruins
The lodge has 3 comfortable, thatched roof cabanas (palapa, huts, cabins) with Private Outdoor Tropical Showers, a relaxing dining area, and Tipi/Yurt Luxury Camping (Glamping).
The accommodations are an eco-resort carved gently into the rainforest. We are located in the heart of Maya country. The lodge is a great vacation for family adventures, couples, honeymoons, weddings, group trips, adventure seekers, birdwatchers, backpackers, mission groups, or anyone looking to experience the heart of Cayo Belize.
Chaya Maya is right on the Belize River and in the jungle (sub-tropical rainforest). Onsite activities include Canoeing, Tubing, Nature Trails, Relaxing in hammocks, Birdwatching and Wildlife Watching.
Other adventures include caving ( ATM Caves, Cave Tubing, Crystal Cave, Barton Creek Cave, Rio Frio Cave), Zip Lining, Black Hole Drop, Mayan Ruins ( including Cahal Pech, Xanatunich, Tikal, Caracol), The Belize Zoo, Belize Botanic Garden, Local Culture (Mennonites of Spanish Lookout, San Ignacio, Belmopan), Horseback Riding, and the Inland Blue Hole.
The 80 acre rainforest is home to Howler and Spider Monkeys, Toucans, Parrots, Armadillos, Jaguars, Peccary, Gibnut, Coatimundi, Agouti, Iguana, Reptiles and many other beautiful creatures.
The Chaya Maya Permaculture Sustainable Farm also has an abundance of fruits and vegetables including Pitaya, Chaya, Bananas and Plantains, Limes, Mangos, Avocados, Pineapples, Prickly Pear, Peppers, Craboo, and Coconut. Meals are prepared using fresh ingredients from the farm, when available. The resort is located in the tall jungle canopy which is considered a sub-tropical rainforest.
The lodging accommodations have 3 thatched roof cabanas (also called huts, palapas, rooms or cabins). 2 cabanas have queen beds, 1 cabana has a king bed.
The cabanas are made in the traditional Mayan architecture with wood stick interior walls, mud exterior walls and window gills for natural airflow. Each cabana has comfortable memory foam mattresses, sitting clam chairs, hammock, dressers, nightstands and solar lights. The rooms have solar USB chargers for phones, computers, etc. but are limited with other power.
The lodge also has a Yurt or Tipi (Teepee) with a queen bed. It is a luxurious form of camping (glamping).
Camping / camp sites are available. You can bring your own tent, or rent one of ours. There are shared bathrooms and showers.
A Riverside Bar / Dining Patio is a great place to unwind. Enjoy a Belikin beer or rum punch while hearing the sounds of the rainforest and watching the birds and river view. In March, The La Ruta Mata canoe race comes directly in front of the lodge.
Meals are served from the Dining and Meeting Tropical Patio. There is a kitchen, bar, thatch cover, tables, hammocks and lounge chairs. This is a great place to eat, socialize, relax and enjoy the jungle. The patio is in a beautiful tropical setting.
Chaya Maya Jungle Lodge is centrally located to Mayan Ruins and Caves in the Cayo District. The lodge is on the Belize River in Teakettle, near Young Gal Road. Access to the lodge is across the Belize River from Young Gal Road, or by car around the Spanish Lookout side. Road access is through the jungle and requires 4 wheel drive.
ATM Caves, Cave Tubing, Spanish Lookout and Belmopan are less than 15 miles from the lodge.
Mayan Ruins and San Ignacio are approximately 20 miles from the lodge.
Belize City is approximately 50 miles from the lodge.
Transfers to the lodge are available from many locations including Belmopan Bus or Airport Terminals, The Belize International Airport, Belize City, Dangriga, Placencia, and San Ignacio.
If you are driving your own car, please call to make arrangements for parking and pickup as the road access may be too difficult for many rental cars.
