Pennsylvanians by heart... Coast Guard family that has lived in Hawaii, Florida, Virginia and Maryland. Originally from just north of Pittsburgh and presently living in Hesston, PA.
Jeff Potensky purchased this house in 2005
We fell in love with Raystown Country the first time we vacationed here in the late 90's. I frequently traveled from Virginia to the North Western woods of PA to visit my families camp located in Kennerdell, near Oil City. We finally stumbled across Raystown Lake that had all that PA could offer from the top notch striper and trout fishing to herds of deer and abundance of wildlife. The serenity of the Spring, Fall and Winter are indescribable, tranquil and majestic. Summers on the Lake are... well just come out and see for yourself... We'll see you on the lake...
My Otter Place is located just minutes from the gates of Seven Points recreational park, marina and boat launches. The home itself is in a very exclusive neighborhood that's cuddled away from all of the hustle and bustle of all the other campers and boaters. The back porch is screened in and within view of the campfire area. These quite evenings will instill wonderful family memories in all for many years to come.
Stayed there week of the 4th.
Nice place and everyone was comfortable.
Everyone had enough space. We had plenty of beds and bedding. The kitchen was well equipped with things we needed to prepare meals. We had three elderly parents/grandparents with us who, two of them especially, had trouble with the outdoor steps. With help, we got them inside the house and settled down. We liked the secluded area. It is quite a nice area to be. Our little family included a 10, 8 and 6-year-old, who we took to the nearby DelGrosso's Amusement Park. It was about a 40 minute drive. We always like it when a property has a washer and a dryer. We just enjoyed getting away for a weekend. The grandparents liked the scenery on the way to and from the The Otter house... a 4+hour drive.... to and from our own residence. Be sure to bring your own towels and washcloths as the owners have stated on their VRBO page.
My family and I enjoyed our stay at this lovely home in a beautiful location! There was plenty of open yard space for my grandsons to play in and the fire pit was a hit for making S'mores! The community pond is very pretty and my youngest grandson caught a few fish and spotted numerous frogs. There is a path around the pond that we used for early morning walks or runs. (the path is lighted so it could be used in the evening as well) A few of the highlights of our trip included: the beach at Seven Points Marina, feeding the fish at the Marina, paddle-boarding, going to Wild River Waterpark at Lake Raystown Resort, Del Grosso's Amusement Park, taking a dinner cruise on the Proud Mary Showboat, and seeing a sunset from the Hawn/Ridenour Overlook. About a 20 minute drive from the house there is a small shopping center with a Walmart and a Dollar Tree. There is also a newly opened Sheetz gas/convenience store near the Walmart. Jeff is friendly and very easy to communicate with through emails or phone. We definitely recommend My Otter Place and would definitely would come back.
We thoroughly enjoyed our stay. The property was wonderful , secluded enough for privacy but close enough to access all the spots we needed. It was our first time in Raystown and we loved it. Would definitely come back.
What a wonderful home for three generations of our family to vacation together. All the amenities were there plus plenty of room. We enjoyed having the best of both worlds - living in a beautiful home while being able to have camp fires in the back yard!! The back screened in deck was perfect for the morning to watch the deer, birds and other animals. The fishing pond just down the hill was a lot of fun too. We came to enjoy the lake and that we did! Everything was perfect and a good time was had by all, 8 weeks old - 50+. Jeff is very easy to work with and very friendly. You won't be disappointed.
