A really lovely holiday home
We’ve just had a fabulous week staying in this lovely house. The location is peaceful, the pool lovely and the views stunning. The house has been set up really well for a family, and we appreciated the attention the owners have given to what you might need including towels for the pool. There’s loads to do nearby too if you can drag yourselves away.
We had a wonderful week staying here. The house is located ideally, in a location that feels rural and isolated, but in reality is a short drive from everything you can need in Payzac or St Yrieux. Indoors everything is well thought out, and works perfectly, and the kitchen is well equipped. Outdoors the pool and garden are brilliant, and offer so many things to do (boules, table tennis, darts).
We had an 18 month year old with us, and accommodating him was no problems (and apart from the pool, we didn’t feel like the house was risky for him to explore!). In particular he loved the neighbours’ ducks and chickens....
Lovely holiday home, perfect for an active family
This is a lovely property, situated in an area with plenty to do. We enjoyed some great walks and cycle rides even though the weather was not that great. The property is very well equipped. The main weakness is probably the absence of a second bathroom, but it looks as though that is in the process of being rectified. Overall, very good. Highly recommended.
One of the best cottages in France!! And we've stayed at many!! Everything was thought of!!
Beautiful property in gorgeous countryside with stunning views. The perfect retreat for a relaxing holiday with the family.
Fabulous cottage in beautfiul countryside
This really was a fantastic family cottage, with everything you could possibly need. Very clean, spacious with lots of activities for our children to play with. Table tennis, basket ball, football nets, bikes, badminton, and of course a fabulous pool, which was a lovely temperature in the hot sun. We couldn't get over how quiet it was when sat on the patio watching the sun set, so peaceful and set in the most wonderful grounds. The large bathroom and kitchen were immaculate with modern facilities and the shower was excellent. I would highly recommend this cottage, and Tracy the owner was so accommodating and helpful.
We have stayed in may properties over the years, L'Aubuge Haute is by far the nicest Gite we have stayed in. The welcome pack was amazing allowing you to relax without the worry of dashing to the supermarket straight away! The house is ideally located to explore if you want to, its so peaceful should you decide to hideaway for the duration of your stay, the house is so well equipped you will want for nothing! My children loved the games and the use of the bikes. The house and pool is immaculate, Tracey was an absolute pleasure to deal with from booking to ensuring everything was ok whilst we were there. We will definitely be returning to this fabulous Gite! Thank you again Tracey & Nigel for sharing your beautiful Gite :-)

Alternatively 8km north is the town of St Yrieix-la-Perche which has a wide selection of cafe/bars and restaurants together with large supermarkets.

St Yrieix-la-Perche is a historic & pretty market town with a longstanding tradition of being associated with the famous Limoges porcelain. With it's quaint medieval cobbled streets, boutiques, shops & 12th century collegiate church, it also holds a lively farmers market on the 2nd and 4th Friday of each month. In addition it has a new indoor leisure pool with outdoor water slides and an indoor tennis centre. This region is home to a plethora of beautiful chateaux, notably Hautefort & the fairytale castle at Jumilhac le Grand. The nearby village of Excideuil with it's 10th century monastery, gothic church & 16th century houses is well worth a visit - it is also home to one of our favourite restaurants in the Perigord Vert, Le Fin Chapon. The North Dordogne is one of the most beautiful & popular regions in France & is well known for its numerous prehistoric sites, including the famous Grotte de Lascaux & Grotte de Villars, or for the more energetic there are endless opportunities to canoe & kayak upon its many rivers. For the wine enthusiast, we are within easy travelling distance of the vineyards of Bergerac and Bordeaux. The local countryside is both beautiful and unspoilt with rolling hills and valleys containing many rivers and lakes, ideal for those who enjoy walking or cycling.
