Our two lovely villas are set in beautiful gardens high in the hills above the pretty Spanish village of Mijas. On a clear day you can see the Atlas mountains of Morocco from the gardens and terraces. Malaga airport is a 30-minute drive as is Marbella to the south. Picturesque Mijas pueblo is just a five-minute drive. The two houses on a 10,000m² (2.5-acre) site on the south-facing slopes of the Mijas mountain. The main house, Casa Grande, has 6-bedrooms and 5-bathrooms and sleeps 14 people. It has a wealth of classical Spanish features, beautiful mature gardens and a 12-metre heated (optional) swimming pool located in a private walled area. The guest house, Casa Pequeña, sleeps 4 people and has its own swimming pool and private gardens. Both properties are totally private and secluded being some 80 metres from each other. They were built in a classic Spanish style to reflect the rustic location.

About Jonathan Coleman
We live near Henley-on-Thames in Oxfordshire but are now enjoying our houses near Mijas more than ever having both taken early retirement after selling our respective businesses. With five grown-up children, six beautiful grandchildren and a lovely crowd of friends it is not hard to put together a house party in Spain and this is the perfect place to do it.
Jonathan Coleman purchased this Villa in 1998
Why Jonathan Coleman chose Mijas
Everyone falls in love with the property. Just as we did, literally buying it the day after setting eyes on it for the very first time. Its stunning views and lovely gardens combine to create a relaxing haven in an almost rural, mountain location with the advantage of fantastically easy access to the airport and the lively towns and beaches of the Costa del Sol. We love the fact that six hours (sometimes even less) after leaving our home in Oxfordshire we can be sitting on the terrace sipping a cool beer and planning where to have lunch. Although we really love cooking and entertaining we also enjoy eating out at the many and very varied local restaurants.
What makes this Villa unique
We have a large family and lots of friends and this is perfect for parties of all ages. Guests never seem to want to venture far from the house and pool but those who do, like the golfers, love the huge selection of courses nearby. Children love to visit the water park in Fuengirola or one of the many beaches along the coast and a group of us always sample a bit of “real Spain” on horseback from a nearby Andalucian riding centre. However at the end of the day, particularly at the hottest times of year, it is wonderful to drive back up the mountain to the slightly cooler and certainly more peaceful location of our villas for some true “away from it all” R & R.

Excellent facilities and wonderful views overlooking Mijas.
Beautiful Site, House and Gardens
We would definitely recommend this property to others planning to visit the Costa del Sol with family. We were two adults with two college age children and a grandmother. We fully appreciated the beautiful house and stunning gardens. The photos on Home Away do not do justice to the beautiful gardens and view. This is a warm and cheerful place to enjoy family time and to strike out on adventures. Even at Christmas time we were able to enjoy sitting in the sun on the large veranda. Our family enjoys cultural exploration and enjoyed excursions to many towns on the Costa del Sol and also made a day trip to Granada (about two hours each way). As with other guests, we found the owners very helpful and the car hire convenient. (A car is necessary for the stay).
Fantastic villa in the Hills
Our party of 8 adults and 6 children had a fantastic weeks holiday in Casa Grande. Communication and information from the owners was excellent from booking to the end of our holiday. Villa was very spacious even with 14 people. Main veranda was perfect for BBQ meals and sitting out in the evenings overlooking sea. Pool was clean, well maintained and warm enough in the summer sun enabling the kids to be in it all day long. Plenty of room in and around the pool for 14 - never felt overcrowded. The villa location in the hills meant it was private and peaceful. Hire car is recommended. We took the owners advice and went with their hire car rep which was an excellent meet and greet service providing us with no fuss or long delays on collection at the airport. The Villa itself was perfect. Spacious, clean, fully equipped kitchen, large bedrooms and plenty of places to in and around it to find some peace from everyone or for the kids play. We visited Gibraltar, Estepona, Fuengirola , Mijas and Porto Benus and found lovely beaches and a wide variety of restaurants. I would fully recommend this accommodation for anyone wanting to stay in this area of Spain.
We're so pleased your party had a good holiday at the villa - it is a special place, not too far from the beaches, restaurants and tourist fun but also a peaceful haven in the hills where you can relax and escape the hurly-burly of the busy resorts. It was a pleasure to help arrange your stay here and car hire and if you feel like returning in the future we do offer a special discount to all our repeat guests.

It has been a wonderful week of family fun. We really enjoyed the spacious house, the BBQ, swimming pool, terrace, gardens, sea views and the estate in general.
Looking forward to visiting Casa Grande and Casa Pequena again!
We are so pleased the Smulders family had a lovely holiday staying in both houses. Sharing relaxing time together as a family is what it's all about. We would love to welcome you back to Casa Grande and Casa Pequena. They are both very private villas but together they provide wonderful shared accommodation. Gay and Jonathan
Just returned from a fabulous fortnight at Las Granadas- what a wonderful place. The villa is fantastic, very well equipped & has loads of room so ideal for families sharing. The bedrooms are amazing- especially the master on the top floor- what a view. The terrace was incredibly comfortable - a perfect place for mealtime get togethers. Pool perfect. Lovely quiet location, you will need a car to get around but only a short drive into Mijas - a beautiful town with lovely shops and restaurants. Short drive also to beaches - Peurto Banus highly recommended & the lakes are well worth a visit.
All in all a wonderful break for us all- would highly recommend Las Granadas!
It is a 10-minute drive to the nearest beach at Fuengirola but the property is also within easy reach of many other beaches on the Costa del Sol.
The properties are a 30-minute drive from Malaga airport and 25-minutes from Marbella. It is a five-minute drive from the small town/village of Mijas and numerous restaurants and bars. Car hire is essential.
