There is a 4 day minimum during Mardi Gras, Jazzfest and other large Festivals!

The Neighborhood

With a history of 300 years New Orleans is known for preserving the past as much as possible and that shows throughout this neighborhood where many of the homes have been newly renovated or are in the process of being renovated to maintain their unique "shotgun" style and look. To a visitor the bright colors used might seem odd but the variety of colors and mismatched housing styles tend to add to the charm of the neighborhood.

Unlike many cities it is very normal here to say hello and talk to people as they walk by on the sidewalk and streets! Southern hospitality is alive and strong! So, don’t be shy and you will feel like a true local when visiting.

This neighborhood is also very close to the French Quarter where “big city” common sense can prevail when it comes to safety as well. If you’re unsure or worried about anything just let me know and I am more than happy to provide even more advice!

Getting around

Parking on the street is available but renting a car is not necessary for your visit. Uber and Lyft are both available through out the city and the property is only a block away from the new up and running Rampart Streetcar Line!

About Jordan Ivey

Hello! I am Jordan, the property manger, for this beautiful rental. The owners, Stuart and Amy Bakay, purchased this house in 2016 and have renovated it beautifully while maintaining many original features! Having lived here for almost five years now I really enjoy sharing "My New Orleans."

Jordan Ivey purchased this house in 2016

Why Jordan Ivey chose South 7th Ward

The Bakay's are local to New Orleans and hope to one day retire to this house. You are surrounded by great long-term neighbors and good friends of ours, please say hello when you see them outside.

This house was built in 1892 and we had the honor of renovating/restoring it in 2016. We hope that you enjoy all the amenities of a new house with the charm of an original New Orleans Greek Revival.

What makes this house unique

Only 5 blocks to the local music scene and 6 blocks to the heart of the French Quarter this property provides a truly local experience.

Guestbook comments from the owner

Cody

The house was amazing! Better than expected! Karen was a stellar host. Although we didn't need much, she checked in with us periodically to make sure we were comfortable and to remind us to just ask if we had questions. We had an excellent time in NOLA and would stay at this property again in the future. Thanks tons, Karen!

Impressive!!

  • 5 of 5

We absolutely loved our stay! What a beautiful house in the cutest neighborhood. Perfect setup for our 2 couples.

If you walk down to the end of Frenchmen Street you will be at the top the French Quarter (it took us a few days to figure that out!)

Frenchmen Street was enjoyable and had great food and music.

I would highly recommend this property for both the amenities and the location. We loved our stay.

Jordan was very helpful in getting us setup for our New Orleans adventure.

Clean, comfortable, great location

  • 4 of 5

Our group of 6 thoroughly enjoyed our stay on Frenchmen Street. The only reason I am not using 5 stars is because the property is actually a duplex, with 2 separate apartments. When we booked, this was not clear and we thought we were reserving a 4 bedroom unit.

Besides that - the place is fantastic! Spotlessly clean, well equipped, comfortable and beautifully decorated. Our contact Jordan was extremely attentive and thoughtful. We loved that coffee was provided as well as “starter beers” in the fridge. Great location - easy walk to the street car, grocery store, pharmacy, Frenchmen Street has many great clubs and pubs with awesome live music and great food. We had a blast in New Orleans and will be back! When our travrl plans were affected by a blizzard up north, Jordan was so accommodating and thoughtful as we were trying to figure out how to get home! She even showed up on our last morning with mimosas for our group!

A Great Place

  • 5 of 5

As others have said, when you first arrive in the neighborhood it can be a bit intimidating. However, this feeling of trepidation quickly disappears. Spend only a little time on the front porch and you'll soon discover what an interesting and friendly place it truly is. From the young woman who's a wonderful artist across the street, to your next door neighbor whose brother is a well known trumpet player, to even those who pass by on the street, most everyone is willing to strike up a conversation, or at least offer you a friendly greeting.

Karen does a great job with communication, keeping in touch and even stopping by to make sure everything is as expected. One couldn't ask for a friendlier person.

My group of eight had the entire house, which is basically split into mirror images. It's very well stocked, and it even included some welcoming beers in the refrigerators! All necessary amenities are provided, and the house is beautifully restored and furnished.

This is an up and coming neighborhood with some of the houses presently being restored as well.

Just a few blocks' walk are the many bars and restaurants of Frenchmen Street, and the streetcar stop is a block and a half away. If you've never used the NOLA streetcars, that is a must-do experience. We purchased 24 hour passes and used them even more than the short Uber rides.

To sum up, don't miss this place. It's a true NOLA experience that nobody should miss.

NOLA WEEKEND

  • 5 of 5

My husband and I stayed here last weekend with one other couple and it was everything I hoped it would be and more. The house was walking distance from all the action on Frenchman Street. A little ways away from the madness on bourbon, which was exactly what we were looking for! The house was fully stocked with all the amenities stated on the website, with plenty of extra linens and pillows in the closets. The backyard was awesome, I only wish it was nicer so we got to use it more! The property manger Karen was outstanding. She gave us a tour of the house upon arrival, showing us were everything was located. She also gave us recommendations while were in the city for the weekend. She kept in touch via text to let us know of anything else we may need to know. When I make my way back to the great city of New Orleans this is the place I will wanna stay.

Gorgeous home in convenient location!

  • 5 of 5

I stayed this past weekend (3 nights) with a group of 7 other adults. We were beyond pleased with the house, the amenities, and the convenient location. Karen, the property manager, was extremely courteous, professional, and had several wonderful recommendations of things to see and do in the area. There truly isn't one negative thing I can say about our experience renting this beautiful home. We would all stay here again in a heartbeat! Thanks to Karen for all of the time and thought she put into making our stay as enjoyable and carefree as possible.

Thank you for such a special Friendsgiving weekend in NOLA. It was great to be in a quiet neighborhood in a super comfortable space. Karen was such and amazing communicator before, during and after our stay. There really aren't any amenities that you could possibly need...they were all provided for us...and lots of extras including beer! Thank you so much, we would be honored to come back.
