A big open kitchen with amazing ocean view, breakfast and dinner tables, multiple gathering/living rooms, a ping pong table , a TV with a DVD/Blu-ray player and high-speed wireless wifi. Fabulous property in a great location
This is a fabulous and spacious property which totally exceeded our expectations providing more than enough room for 6 people. House was well equipped with everything you could require including full appliances in the kitchen and laundry room. Large deck with stunning views, an ideal place to have a morning coffee or enjoy the sunsets over the ocean.
The house is in a quiet street within a short walking distance to the beach, but lots of steps to gain access. Short drive to the Mall, restaurants, services and places of interest.
Only downside was the access into the property, requiring a download of an app to your phone. Our family who travelled with us from the UK were unable to connect successfully to the app. Fortunately Lisa was able to assist and provide access to a lockbox instead.
Even with the challenges of gaining access to the property would highly recommend staying here.
Gorgeous view from a great house
For our family get together this place was great. 3 bedrooms up and 2 down. Big living room and family room with ping pong table. Nice size deck with an amazing view to relax on while having your morning coffee, and to sit around in evening after sight seeing.
No AC so on the 30C days bedrooms were pretty warm, only 2 fans.
Windows had screens so could open up windows in evening to cool place down.

Great property, clean, grey view. Easy check in and out. Property is actually 5 bedrooms, not 4. Propett looks like photos on listing. Good communication from host! Would definitely stay again.
Spectacular Location but Maintenance Issues
This home is located in a quiet suburban neighbourhood within a short walking distance of the Pacific Ocean. It was also easily accessible to Nanaimo’s excellent network of extensive cycling paths. The home has a fabulous view from the back deck looking out over the Winchelsea Islands on the eastern shore of Vancouver Island. It was great to dine on the deck and watch the spectacular sunsets.

While Lisa, the property owner or manager, was very responsive and helpful whenever we contacted her, the inadequate home maintenance was a recurring issue. Here are three examples:
(1) The stove top was grimy. It had not been properly cleaned.
(2) The garage reeked from the offensive odours of piled garbage. Upon our arrival, we read the instructions to guests and immediately noticed that the following morning was the scheduled garbage pick-up. We therefore put all of the accumulated, foul-smelling garbage outside on the driveway for pick-up. Much to our surprise, after the city garbage truck had departed, we saw that take-out Styrofoam containers with left-over food had been tossed on the driveway by the garbage collectors with a note advising us that these containers were not acceptable for re-cycling. In addition, one bin was rejected because compostable items had not been separated in accordance with the city’s re-cycling rules.
We cleaned up the debris on the driveway, separated the recycling and garbage properly and left the containers outside next to the garage door. We informed Lisa that we were not returning the garbage to the inside garage because of the rank odours.
We assume that the previous guests were responsible for the garbage and the failure to sort it properly. But, it should not have been our task to fix their mistakes. Those responsible for home maintenance should have checked after the prior guests had departed.
(3) Access to the home was sometimes a technological challenge. You must download a specific app on your phone with a code that allows you to enter and exit. Each guest must ensure that they have their cell phones with them whenever they leave the house because if they do not, they will be locked out. What is wrong with the key lock box system in which the owner provides the guest with the code to the lock box, and the guest simply leaves the key in the lock box when he/she departs?
With the foregoing maintenance issues, we cannot give this "stunning ocean view retreat" five stars.
Met our needs perfectly
From the home itself to the wonderful person who managed the stay it was all a great experience. The house was large enough to meet our needs, it had great views from the deck to the ocean and was close to major shopping centres. If you have a large family, and need room to spread out this is the place for you.

This is our fourth VRBO retreat (three in 2014; one this summer). As with previous facilities, this summer home, for a week, totally exceeded our expectations. Yes, the views are outstanding. But also the home itself: immaculate, clean; spacious. As seniors, our holiday was touring around the Mid-Island, including Nanaimo, during the days. A week's worth of touring / exploring was perfect for us.
Evenings were spent relaxing on the spacious deck, and watching sunsets and looking for cruise ships.
The owner (Lisa) was always accessible and ready to assist when asked.
Given the time spent in the kitchen, an amazing discovery - the knives in the knife block were razor sharp! Part of the attention to detail.
We did have excellent sunny weather, which for us was great. Comfortably warm, and cooling off during the evenings. Fans are situated in many rooms, either ceiling or free-standing.
The photos on the web site don't do justice. Had I taken photos prior to unpacking and moving in, I would have offered them to Lisa for her consideration.

Additional information about rental rates
If the booking is made less than 30 days prior to arrival date, 100% of the rental amount will be required to hold the booking. Check in is at 5:00 p.m. on the day of arrival. Check out is no later than 11 a.m. on departure day. There is garage for one car and there is room for one larger vehicle to park or two small vehicles in the driveway. Guests will be issued a code to unlock the door by email or text message. This is a "No Smoking" / "No Pet" property. If it is determined that guests have smoked in the house or have had a pet in the house, extra cleaning charges ($500 and $300) will be applied to the damage deposit. Blocking of other driveways or parking in front of other house is not allowed. Start the first load of bath towels in the washer before leaving
