Playa Bejuco is conviently located between Esterillos Este and Parrita in the Central Pacific region, less than two hours from San Jose's international airport. It's also just 30 minutes away from the popular tourist town of Jacó to the north and 30 minutes from the famous Manuel Antonio National Park to the south.
The town of Bejuco is quite small with access via a gravel road, making it less 'touristy' than many other beach towns. The residents mostly make their living by fishing, agriculture, and as construction workers at various complexes up and down the coast.
The beach is vast and clean with a Blue Flag rating. Except for the high holidays weeks, it is never crowded. It is not unusual for us to take a morning walk and not see another soul, except for a few puppy dogs.
In Parrita ( a few kilometers further down the coast) you will find supermarkets, convenience stores, gas stations, restaurants, etc. There is also a new complex located across the highway from the Playa Bejuco entrance. It is called Town Center and contains a market, several restaurants, a spa, a gym, and a Ropa Americana store - so far. More is coming.
The best way to get around is to have a car. There are also buses that travel the highway, and there are taxis in Parrita. In the house manual there is a phone number of a taxi driver who speaks English.
