The Granary (2 Bedrooms, Sleeps 6)
Canceled bookings will not receive a refund
Absolutely loved our stay here at The Granary over Xmas. Couldn’t fault it. Had horrendous journey from Australia to UK due to flight cancellation but was so lovely to climb into freshly cleaned beds and use towels they smelt lovely. I am a bit of a clean freak snob but couldn’t fault the cleanliness of accomadation. Arrived to lovely baked cake and Christmas tree up. Five stars from us 👍🏻
Debbie and family,
I am glad you had a great time staying with us over Christmas and that your trip was not too stressful with the Gatwick airport drone. I hope that you managed to have an uneventful trip home back to Oz. we look forward to seeing you again when you visit your sister in Wethersfield. Happy New Year.
The Granary is a very comfortable 'house' for a big family
As a family of 6 we found the Granary to have everything we could need for our extended stay. A fully functioning kitchen (including dishwasher and washing machine) was a fantastic help. The bedrooms were HUGE, very clean and comfortable, the lounge area was more than adequate for us and the oil heating kept the house nicely warm. The local town, Finchingfield, offered several eating houses; we especially liked the 'The Fox Inn'. We would thoroughly recommend Claire's accommodation at the Granary, which is part of a working farm, to anyone who was thinking of staying in the countryside.
Stansted airport is only 30 minutes away. Fast trains approximately 40 mins to London. Spains Hall is only 2 miles away
Further afield you can explore other historic towns and villages: Lavenham, Long Melford, Clare, Colchester (Colchester Zoo among the attractions), Chelmsford, Thaxted, Saffron Walden.
Nestling in the centre of a working farm these cottages enjoy far reaching views abundant with wildlife. You can enjoy country walks, there are footpaths across many of the surrounding fields. Our fishing lake attracts a wealth of wildlife including herons, badgers, kingfishers, woodpeckers and swans.
But as well as the immediate surroundings there is much more to explore besides in the local area. A car drive away is the beautiful picture-postcard village of Finchingfield, with its tea room, antique and gift shops and windmill and many pubs offering good food.
