A charming 'Beach House' style two bedroom log cabin with decking & garden area
About Roger Green
Myself (Roger), my partner Jenny and our kids, Alyshia and Leon currently live in Leigh-on-Sea in Essex.
Roger Green purchased this Cabin in 2012
Why Roger Green chose Thurlestone
We had been holidaying in the area for some years and would love to have found a bolt-hole but everything was too expensive or just didn't appeal. The moment we drove down the lane into the valley and saw Toad Hall we knew it was the right place, the destiny that we had been waiting to come along. It captured our hearts from that moment and we love it more with each visit and miss it when we are not there.
What makes this Cabin unique
It has just about everything.... in the countryside with great walks yet also really close to some of the most beautiful and diverse coastline in the country (my main hobby is kayaking so it is ideally placed for that). Incredibly quiet with great starlit skies at night. Lots of wildlife. Some fabulous towns and villages close by. Very clean, great facilities. Very thoughtfully done. Fantastic location, just minutes from Bantham beach, and easy to get to many other beaches and towns. Couldn’t recommend toad hall more!
Perfect secluded getaway
Everything you might need is here - and with your own garden space and views. Beds were really comfy and with great bedding, towels, tea towels and cleaning stuff all there. Great shower, comfy, sunny lounge. The tap and sink outside for sandy wetsuits etc was really useful. The area is stunning - we were only there 3 nights so didn't venture far - but Bantham Beach was delightful
Great lodge set in a peaceful location
Enjoyed our stay in this well appointed lodge. Our dog enjoyed her own secure garden too! Evenings spent in the sunshine on the decking. Just had to get used to the very narrow roads in this part of the country. The beaches were beautiful but the local one was quite a walk in the warm sunshine. Overall a relaxing holiday.
Great place in a lovely part of the world. Would recommend to anyone who wants a relaxing break.
From the moment we arrived, our stay was perfect. Roger and Jen left a bottle of prosecco for us which was a nice touch. The bungalow was very cosy, very clean and had everything we needed. The little side garden is fenced off which gave us a nice bit of privacy. The outdoor deck area is perfect for having a lovely meal outside. Bantham beach is stunning and is only a mile away. Part of it is dog friendly too. Kingsbridge is only a ten minute drive away and has a couple of big supermarkets. Overall, our stay was brilliant and we would definitely recommend this place to anyone.
An Excellent Retreat.
This is an excellent rural retreat, set in a small tree-lined valley with only a handful of similar properties nearby. A log-cabin type bungalow with a veranda where I could sit, read or just day-dream with a glass of wine. Nearby Bantham beach is just lovely and we explored that part of the Devon coast. We did enjoy our stay.
Home from home
A lovely little cabin in a beautiful location Very quit and secluded great for a get away from it all retreat.
Bantham has a large, unspoilt sandy beach with views to Burgh Island and Bigbury on sea. It is perfect for families, surfers, body boarders, kayaking and walkers. The South West coast path is accessed from the beach with walks to secluded coves, pretty villages such as Thurlestone, Modbury and Hope Cove and the vibrant yachting town of Salcombe. Dogs are permitted on the beach year round, but in the summer season are restricted to the Ham and the western end of the beach (large area of sand at low tide). RNLI lifeguards patrol throughout the summer, and there is a surfing school based at the beach. (See following link for Magic Seaweed surf update and webcam...http://magicseaweed.com/Bantham-Surf-Report/10/ ). The only other facilities are public toilets, but the village is a few minutes walk and has a shop, cafe and an excellent pub (The Sloop Inn). The cabin is within approximately half an hours drive of Dartmouth, Plymouth and the vast, rugged expanse of Dartmoor. The nearest town is the lovely Kingsbridge which has two supermarkets, a delightful High Street, Doctor's surgery/hospital, cinema and lots of excellent restaurants, cafes, pubs and takeaways.
