About Jude Townsend
Villa Sonbahar is owned by Paul & Jude Townsend
Jude Townsend purchased this Villa in 2010
Why Jude Townsend chose Ozankoy
We bought Villa Sonbahar in 2010 after visiting Ozankoy and North Cyprus for the first time in 2009. We were so taken with the unspoilt nature of North Cyprus and for us Villa Sonbahar captured this and a wonderful mix of tranquillity and privacy without complete isolation. We renovated Villa Sonbahar in 2011 and have tried to create a boutique hotel style experience.
What makes this Villa unique
For us, the space, freedom and privacy made us fall in love with Villa Sonbahar. The sea and mountain views from every room are incredible and we have spent some amazing summers at the Villa, with a variety of family and friends visiting. The layout means there is enough room to relax and spread out and the pool and terraces come into their own day and night.

Beautiful villa and traditional tranquility
What a beautiful villa! It is set within a traditional quiet village where you feel like you are getting away from hustle and bustle of everyday life. We have stayed in many villas and we have never been to one like this that is so well equiped, even down to the small things like pasta and rice in the cupboards for you the use. It was truly a home from home. The orchard within the villa grounds was such a joy, everyday we would go and pick necatrines, limes, lemons and tangarines etc, a true holiday memory watching our children getting excited and enjoying picking and eating the fruit.
Judy and Vincent the local hosts, who are English, live near by and were fantastic. They were helpful, thorough and lovely people. The welcome hamper filled with wine and meats etc was perfect especially as we arrived late afternoon. The owner Jude was also extremely thorough and helpful, she sent us a map of the village showing locations of restaurants and shops which is such a big help especially if it's somewhere new for you.
The local restaurants are hidden gems and are walking distance too. There are some small local supermarkets that cater for what you need. A little drive down into the town is advised as you then get to experience more of the island. Again fantastic restaurants, very welcoming locals. A must go for families is supreme park next to the kitchen restaurant, our children loved playing in here at night on the trampolines and train rides etc.
I would highly recommend to anyone to stay here you will have a brilliant relaxing holiday with beautiful surrounds and excellent food.
Love this villa
I spent a long time looking at villas in this region for our holiday .. and so glad we chose to stay here.
Very comfortable. Clean and modern. Great beds. Everything you need in the kitchen.
Quiet location in a non-estate area. Complete privacy.
Loved the pool and sitting out on the veranda with the views.
You can walk to the village for some bars. Lots of restaurants within easy drive.
Great holiday where we really relaxed! Thank you!
Magnificent Villa Kyrenia.
If you're searching for a modern and stylish villa in Kyrenia to enjoy your holiday in then look no further than Villa Sonbahar.
Booking the villa was easy and communications with Jude were very good and informative.
Myself and three friends stayed at Villa Sonbahar during our holiday in Kyrenia, and we fully appreciated the style and quality of the whole villa.
It is evident that a lot of thought and attention to detail has been taken to ensure that anyone staying at this villa will have the most pleasant holiday as possible.
The Villa is well situated and set in a tranquil area. All the facilities are brilliant, the size of the rooms are spacious and the layout of the villa and it's surrounding area are well thought out. And everything was clean and fresh when we arrived.
We really enjoyed the outside seating areas and the amazing sea views, we also made full use of the BBQ on a daily basis.
The swimming pool is a perfect size, and great to cool off in when the Cyprus heat kicks in.
The hosts Judy and Vince are a lovely couple and were always on hand for any advice or information regarding the villa or Kyrenia.
The region of Kyrenia has many places to visit such as the local beaches and harbour, and the nighlife is vibrant with plenty of restaurants to choose from.
There are plenty of supermarkets and shops nearby, and I would recommend car hire as essential to fully enjoy your stay.
Overall we really enjoyed our holiday and would highly recommend Villa Sonbahar to anyone who enjoys the finer things in life.
We would glady book Villa Sonbahar again, and would like to thank the owners for providing a Great service.
I and my three adult children found our stay at Villa Sonbahar a lovely experience. We had not been to Cyprus before but a friend recommended the Kyrenia region. I am so glad she did - it is a very beautiful area. The villa is superb - spacious, clean, comfortable with the most fantastic views: perfectly situated. We took the track up to the village of Bellapais twice during our stay and also visited the Ozankoy bookshop - the former well worth a visit and the latter good for a browse and a coffee. The owners' recommendation of a car hire firm was good and we did a lot of sightseeing - the Hilarion Castle is well worth a visit (steep climb!!). As vegetarians, we found it relatively easy to eat out and could self cater with no problem. We absolutely loved our stay and wished we had booked a fortnight. We would very much like to book the villa again possibly next year. Jude was very helpful via email before our trip and the hosts, Judy and Vincent, were also very knowledgeable about everything.
Great villa, great service!
We had a great time at villa Sonbahar, it was peaceful, spacious and had everything we needed. We have stayed at similar villas before but the extra touches like the water cooler and a good TV with full Sky English channels make a difference – although we didn’t watch it much it was nice when we wanted to. The pool was a good size and there were plenty of places to sit if you wanted sun/shade or privacy.
We enjoyed days out at Famagusta and Turtle Beach. Kyrenia castle is well worth a visit, and we spent a couple of days at Denizkizi beach west of Kyrenia which has a lovely safe beach with reasonably priced watersports.
You can walk to a few local bars and restaurants and there are many to choose from within a 5 minute drive: We discovered the Corner House restaurant in Ozancoy a bit late in our stay as we thought it couldn’t be any good as it always looked empty from the road when we drove past. What we couldn’t see was that it was really busy in the garden at the back. This was our favourite eating place in Ozancoy – good steaks, we also enjoyed Bella Moon restuarant in Bellapais where there is a nice abbey to visit, and the big pizza place next to Shooters on the way to Kyrenia which was amazing value, as were most things in Northern Cyprus: meals cost probably half what we paid last year in Germany, and beer under £2 a pint is always popular with me.
Judy and Vincent, the local hosts, were really friendly and helpful, being very quick to respond to emails and happy to recommend places. The villa was also spotless when we arrived and was cleaned during our visit. The deluxe welcome pack was also very handy as we arrived late in the day so it was nice to have a sandwich and a drink.
The villa is 2 kilometres from the sea and is close (10 mins drive) to the many sandy coves and unspoilt beaches.
Ercan Airport is 40 minutes and Larnaca Airport is 1 hour 40 minutes away. Car hire is recommended.
Ozankoy village is a 5 min walk and has a few local restaurants and mini markets to serve your everyday needs. The popular harbour town of Kyrenia is within ten minutes drive. The historic village of Bellapais is a 20 min walk or 5 minutes drive away. St Hilarion Castle is 15 minutes drive away.
A short drive away, on the coastal road between Catalkoy and Kyrenia, there are numerous larger supermarkets and restaurants.
