About Christine Barrows
We have tried to create a comfortable house with modern amenities yet retaining some period style. The location was chosen because of the superb views, proximity to the town and its excellent facilities.
Christine Barrows purchased this House in 2006
Why Christine Barrows chose Ambleside
We feel so lucky to have a house in the heart of the lake district. It is just above the town , in a quiet cul de sac with views of the fells, yet only 3 minutes walk from the centre of town (five minutes to walk back!) and offering private parking. The house is equally suited to families or groups of adults and our family and friends use it as a base for walking, climbing, touring the area or just as a restful retreat. The town amenties include five cinema screens, multiple restaurants and bars, a park with tennis , bowls etc and a spa.
What makes this House unique
Total relaxation! Mountain walks and town amenities can both be reached without a car. Superb long distance views.

Very well equipped, comfortable and in a great position
We had a very enjoyable stay. The house is in a great position with amazing views and it’s a very short walk down to the shops and all the amenities of Ambleside. The house itself is very comfortable with everything we needed to make our stay a great experience. There is so much to do in the area without having to travel too far and there are some wonderful walks from the door. The house is one of the best we have stayed in and the owner is so helpful, giving us all the information we needed and responding promptly to any queries we had. We would love to return.
Lovely clean and quiet home with a view.
We would love to go back! The house was clean and quiet. There is lots to explore in the area. Great communication with the owners. The best kitchen to cook in of our whole trip.
Great location and beautifully presented accommodation.
We were fortunate to have lovely weather and a great trip for hiking in the Lakes. The property is beautifully presented - clean, modern furniture, very comfortable beds and linens. The kitchen is well stocked with implements and cooking utensils too. The house has great views from the front as it is high up from Ambleside centre and on foot there is a very steep path that certainly gave us a daily work-out.
Would definitely recommend this place for anyone wanting a base to explore this part of the Lake District.
A lovely cottage in a beautiful area.
A great place for a family to stay in a beautiful area. We highly recommend it.
Absolutely fabulous place to stay - have fell in love with Ambleside and the Lake District .
The house was as exactly as described with everything you needed - we only had a long weekend which was not enough time in the beautiful Lakes - our weather was perfect , which was a bonus. Ambleside was a lovely place and very easy to explore from - we also went to Keswick , Grassmere, Hill Top (Beatrix Potters house ) lunch at the hotel by visitors centre , stunning views on terrace ! Drove through Grizdale forest , Hawkeshead , walked along Lake Windermere and Bowness on Windermere. Food was superb at all the places we ate in 😁 Can’t wait to return to explore further and will definitely book Highgale again !
A beautiful tardis of a house.
