Perfectly Located Refurbished Holiday Cottage In The Snowdonia National Park

Bedrooms 2
Property type cottage
Minimum Stay 3 - 7 nights

About the property

Cottage in Llanllechid, Nr. Bangor, Snowdonia National Park, Gwynedd, Wales - 5 Minutes Walk To The Village Shop And Pub

This is wild unspoiled Wales and with the exception of the local bakery, little has changed since ancient times. A steep mountain stream runs under a small bridge on the lane that connects the cottage to the road network. A small convenience store is a short stroll away and a traditional pub 'The Royal Oak' 5 minutes on foot. Just over a mile away is the highly recommended fine dining experience of 'The Slate' restaurant and bar at Tal y Bont. There is one small farm, a church and just 4 more cottages in close proximity with the remainder towering mountains, open fields and marshland for miles around.

Green Cottage is perfect for couples, a family of 4 or 2 couples sharing the property. There are 2 bedrooms and the usual configuration of the beds is a double in one and twins in the other. A cot and a high chair is standard equipment as is all bedding and towels for up to 4 guests. The bedrooms are separated by a short landing and the bathroom, equipped with electric shower and double ended bath, is positioned off the same landing. Downstairs is the impressive inglenook fireplace with wood burning stove that’s in the centre of the very cozy living room. Off the living room is the essential porch for storage of muddy boots and coats. The fully equipped kitchen is a very light and generous space that easily accommodates up to 4 adults seated at an elephant's foot solid oak dining table. Rear garden area is fully enclosed and very private. Perfect for bbq's, eating out or just catching the sun as it's all south facing.

High speed wifi is an essential part of the cottage equipment and full central heating is provided at no extra charge.

The following are additional elements of the cottage location that make it a fabulous base for a holiday in this area:

* This area has by far the highest concentration of outdoor activities available to the visitor than any other part of the UK

* The famous Zip World experience is just 3 miles away

* Cottage is located at the lower end of the Ogwen Valley so a short drive gets you right into the famous mountaineering sections of Tryfan and the Glyders

* White water kayaking at the River Ogwen is only 2 miles away

* Access to the Carneddau mountain range right from the cottage doorstep

* Short drives to no less than 3 medieval castles at Conwy, Beaumaris and Caernarfon and one National Trust stately home Penrhyn Castle (5 minutes by car)

* 15 minute car drives to the Island of Anglesey with its famous Telford Supension Bridge and Blue Flag beaches

* Good range of local takeaways at the nearby town of Bethesda

* Tesco Express shop 3 miles away

* 8 minute drive to University City of Bangor

* 20 minute drive to the Victorian Seaside resort of Llandudno

* 20 minute drive to Conwy

* 20 minute drive to Caernarfon

* 5 minutes by car to the main A55 Expressway (Chester in 60 minutes)

About Andy Want

In the 20 yrs since purchasing our first overseas rental property we've worked hard to perfect every aspect of the villa rental experience and in 2017 we expanded our range of villas to 1 three bedroom villa, 1 two bedroom villa and 1 one bedroom villa in some of the most desirable locations. At regular intervals we inspect and ensure that standards of maintenance are kept at their very best. In 2012 we further expanded our range of private rental units to include a refurbished Welsh cottage in an area that has the highest concentration of outdoor activities and attractions in the whole of the UK - Snowdonia. Our association with that area spans 20 yrs.

Andy Want purchased this cottage in 1994

Why Andy Want chose Bangor

We purchased this 2 bedroom cottage in 1994 and after several months of refurbishment in 2012 it allowed us to further expand our range of private rental units to include this delightful Welsh cottage. The locality is quieter and less developed than the Lake District but many would argue it rivals if not exceeds the Lakes for it's scenery. Additionally the area (Snowdonia) has by far the highest concentration of outdoor activities and attractions in the whole of the UK.

A paradise

  • 5 of 5

This is really a little paradise. You are close to so many beautiful sites, attractions, beaches, but remote from all the crowd. In the evening we would come home to a completely quiet and peaceful village life with most beautiful walks all close by. We even saw wild ponies on the hill! And the people around and especially the host have been so kind and friendly. The house is a charming original cottage beautifully renewed with all you need. It has a well sized kitchen. The only mistake we did, was to stay too short time. We would love to come back.

Lovely little cottage in an ideal location for visiting the area

  • 5 of 5

We had a lovely relaxed stay in this little character cottage, it was perfect for us with our dogs, nice walks from the front door. Ideally located for visiting Snowdonia National Park, Anglesey and the coast line. We had amazing weather which was the icing on the cake, we would come home after a day sight seeing and enjoy sitting in the little enclosed garden which is a sun trap. The cottage was spotlessly clean on arrival and adequately equipped for us to self cater. We had a really nice week, were very comfortable and thoroughly enjoyed our stay. We will hopefully visit again. Thank you Andy

And at the end of each day back to your cosy accommodation. PERFECT many thanks Andy

Beautiful small cosy cottage with mountain views.

  • 5 of 5

Right on the north west boundary of Snowdonia national park, perfectly situated if you want to walk in the mountains or explore the north coast of Wales. You can park very close to the property and it is very well equipped with everything you could need. Good WiFi and centrally heated. We had a wonderful week here this Easter and would definitely book again.

lovely location quiet and walks from the door - near Anglesey Great Orme and Mountains

  • 4 of 5

easy to get to and good directions, just one windy rainy day so for Nov very lucky. Lots of lovely walking and cosy wood burner for evenings - double bedroom very small and have to climb over each other to get in and out. Twin room is massive. Only negative for us was no hoover (as I would hoover most days and it is much quicker than brushing!) I was spinning (wool) so a bit messy too. Nice hard floors downstairs for dog and enclosed garden which was great too. Take your own cleaning stuff as non provided and I didn't read the info. properly and had to go and get some. All in all a great stay. Take your own logs too for the fire or buy locally.

Car: recommended

Special interest holidays:

Climbing and Hill Walking - The Carneddau and Snowdonia mountain ranges are the highest in England and Wales and attract thousands of visitors throughout the year. Tracks onto these mountains are accessible directly from the front door of Green Cottage.

Mountain Biking - Ogwen cycle trail starts 2 miles away from Green Cottage.

Angling - River Ogwen (1 mile away) is one of the foremost game fishing venues in this region of Wales with Sea trout and Salmon in significant numbers in season.

Kayaking and Canoeing - This is also the home of white water canoeing and a challenging river just 1 mile away from the cottage (River Ogwen). A few minutes drive takes you to the upper reaches of the Lligwy, Conwy and Glaslyn rivers. The National Mountain Centre at Plas y Brenin is a 15 minute drive. The National Whitewater Centre at Bala is approximately 40 minutes by car. For sea paddlers the Menai Straits (dividing Anglesey from the mainland) is just 6 miles away.

Both the coastal towns of Llandudno and Caernarfon are 20 minutes by car in either direction.
