Adobe del Cerro Loft: lovely accommodations in a rural, historic setting

About the property

Beautifully appointed two bedroom spacious accommodation with beautiful views.

Our 'Adobe del Cerro Loft' is a lovely home on the 2nd story of the historic Rancho Manzana, located on the Plaza del Cerro, in Chimayo. Breathtaking views, spacious living space, one bedroom with additional sleeping loft, den and open kitchen plan. Private and cozy.

This unique space has high ceilings with a grand open

floor plan filled with the warm New Mexico light, overlooking the historic Plaza del Cerro. It is fully furnished with Taos hand-crafted furniture in the living room, upholstered in an animal themed patterned fabric from the Museum of New Mexico. There is a full kitchen, washer and dryer, claw foot bathtub and a large walk in shower. The bedrooms all have 100% cotton bedding. The bedroom has a queen size bed with a large closet, the den/bedroom and the loft, both have full size beds. WiFi is provided as well as a large screen for watching Netflix and Amazon movies: television reception is not provided. To preserve our beautiful cherry wood floors, we request that our guests remove their shoes when inside the house.

Walking distance to the Santuario de Chimayo and world famous Rancho de Chimayo Restaurant. This unique space has unusually high ceilings with grand open spaces full of light. The bedroom has features not usually found in an old adobe. The light filters through shutters with a clawfoot bathtub in the bedroom, romantically located under a window with the flowering catalpa tree right outside for your evening soak. The bathroom has an extra large shower and a washer and dryer. Radiant heat in the winter and AC in the summer. The den has a comfy double size futon with flat screen TV for watching NetFlix, Amazon, or sleeping. The sleeping loft overlooks the living space and is generously furnished with a double bed. Come and enjoy the historic feeling of staying in an old adobe with all the comforts of home. Sleeps 3 couples comfortably or a family of 4-5 mix of kids and adults. We have plenty of parking and can safely store your bicycles or other valued possessions while you are out exploring the vast country side.

The wonderful open floor plan kitchen is fully equipped for those who like to cook. In addition there is an outdoor eating area under the grape arbor with gas and charcoal BBQ's. Enjoy a lovely sunset by the pond with a glass of wine. Wander through the orchard where there is a wooden platform for yoga.

About Jody Kent

I moved to New Mexico in 1982 from Venice, California. I have renovated many buildings, including this gem: a 10,000 square foot building located on the historic Plaza del Cerro, built in the mid-1700's. I have operated a Bed and Breakfast here since 1995 and recently opened the upstairs Adobe del Cerro Loft with it's breathtaking views for all to enjoy on short term. I continue to run the Inn, Rancho Manzana, as well as many interior design projects. The apartment is well appointed, very private and I am "on property" to answer any questions and make your stay easy and pleasurable.

Jody Kent purchased this apartment in 1988

Why Jody Kent chose Chimayo

Get the experience of the "real authentic" New Mexico. Get away from the crowds of New Mexico's big cities, while being able to access them easily in a days' journey. Experience the old Plaza del Cerro, looking out the windows from the second story. Visit local weavers who have been here for generations. Go to the Santuario de Chimayo for daily services and anoint oneself with the healing earth. Travel to Taos or Abiquiu, Georgia O'keeffe Country or soak in the hot springs at Ojo Caliente or 10,000 Waves, and then back here away from the hustle and bustle. This is a rare and beautiful retreat!

What makes this apartment unique

Sit by the window and watch the setting sun. Sit outside in many of the out-of-the way areas, away from it all. Enjoy a fire around the fire pit, around the pond, but most of all take advantage of being in the gorgeous New Mexico country side with wide open skies and lush surroundings - only in Chimayo!

Spacious accommodations with views

We wanted to slow down after a lot of touring parks and driving back roads, so three nights at this property was ideal. The decor and cooking tools contribute to a welcome break from hotels and restaurants.

We had an amazing time at Rancho Manzana. It was way more gorgeous than the pictures portrayed. We enjoyed the apartment and the land it was on immensely.

This lovely rental is located down a quiet road in Chimayo. The grounds are beautiful and the rental apartment very large and relaxing. I truly enjoyed my three day at the Casita.

This place is magical!

  • 5 of 5

We were greeted warmly, loved the scenic grounds, but fell in love with the living quarters. It was fabulously cool in contrast to the blazing heat outside, spacious, impeccably decorated, clean, and with tons of storage. Light spilled in the dining room window bathing freshcut flowers in the most dramatic light. The spacious, well-appointed kitchen was easy to cook in, especially fresh eggs from Jody's chickens. Jody herself is a delite, as well as her neighbor Alan, both of whom are excellent conversationalists and will go out thier ensure your stay is perfect. If you prefer privacy, you will have plenty of it. The grounds are beautiful, historic (older than the U.S.A.), and perfect for relaxing or grilling. The dogs are friendly, the 45 min drive to Santa Fe is breath-taking. It is a great location from which to explore Bandelier, Tent Rocks, Abiquiu, Santa Fe, and even Taos. I don't always leave glowing reviews....but this place is magical.
