Spring Training Home Base
We were very happy with our stay at Ileana and Chuck's remodeled home. It was used as our home for a week of traveling the gulf coast watching spring training baseball by day and watching March Madness at night. No problems navigating the TV and internet. Communication with the owners prompt and friendly. The home was very clean and well stocked with everything we needed. If we again decide on Port Charlotte as our destination for the annual trip, we will definitely look at renting this property again.
A great place to stay and close to many destinations
The owner Ileana met us at the house, and showed us around. She made us feel welcomed in her home. Everything we needed was at the house, including extra linens, towels. The kitchen is very well equipped to make meals to eat in. The house was is tastefully decorated and very clean. The house is located close to Punta Gorda, beaches, shopping and dining. I would highly recommend this house as a place to stay.
Comfortable and Immaculate!
This home felt amazingly spacious for a traditional FL ranch. It was thoughtfully stocked with basics and outdoor equipment. The owners could not have been more gracious and helpful.
The location was ideal. We were just minutes from parks, beaches, fishing, golf, shopping and restaurants. The backyard dock on the canal was an added fishing bonus. Being on a main residential road made it easy to get where we wanted to go.
Great Experience and Owners
We stayed at this house for a week in February and really enjoyed it. Ileana and Chuck were very gracious hosts and have a great home. Would definitely stay here again and recommend it to others. It was a short drive to Punta Gorda and there were a lot of things to do in Port Charlotte as well. Very convenient location with a grocery store a couple minutes away. There were also two bikes for use that we were able to ride across the bridge and around the town. We had six guests and the house was well spaced out so we didn't feel crowded in the house.
Comfortable Home, Convenient Location
We spent the month of March in this lovely home in Port Charlotte. The owners, Ileana and Chuck, were welcoming and very accommodating. The house was well supplied with linens, dishware, glassware, cookware, cleaning supplies, beach supplies, a grill, and 2 bikes! (I loved the green bike especially!) The home was nicely furnished and decorated. Everything we needed for our stay was there. The location worked out well for us also. It is a 5 - 10 minute drive to Charlotte Harbor Beach Park (swimming pool and boat launch), Live Oak Park (right on Charlotte Harbor), and across the bridge from Punta Gorda (restaurants, shops, bike path, Ponce Park, etc.). The beautiful beaches of Boca Grande and Stump Pass are about 40 to 50 minutes away. We also visited such natural areas as the Peace River, Shell Creek, Babcock Webb, the Cape Haze bike trail and took cruises to Cayo Costa and Don Pedro Islands. We were even able to take in a couple of Tampa Bay spring training games about 20 minutes from the house. A hidden gem (about 10 minutes away) is Ollie's Pond where we saw a bald eagle, a pileated woodpecker, numerous herons, egrets, ibis, huge numbers of white pelicans, and 3 roseate spoonbills! We took day trips to the Edison/Ford Winter Estate in Ft. Myers and to Sanibel/Captiva (Ding Darling Nature Preserve). As you can see, there is so much to do in this area, and this property was a great base for all of our adventures. Thanks to the Wainwrights for their hospitality!
