We really enjoyed our stay! Clean throughout, right down to the grill grates. Sitting on a screened porch with ceiling fans made it a lovely place to relax outside even in the humidity and rain. Easy to get to by land and water and everything you need upon arrival. We would definately stay here again!
Wonderful time !
Excellent vacation spot. The home was top notch, as well as the fishing, paddle boat, and everything in between. Darrell is (and was) a fine host and would definitely like to repeat the vacation sometime in the near future.....thank you
Thank you so much. It was a pleasure to have you. Please come again
Peaceful and relaxing
We met our son, daughter-in-law, and 2 granddaughters, ages 1 and 3, from Cincinnati, we are from Tupelo MS, at the cabin on goose creek for an extended weekend and loved it. The house is great. 3 bedrooms and 3 1/2 baths which were very clean and modern. The kitchen was very nice for a lake house with everything you need for meal prep. Gus, the owner is great as well and met us there on our arrival on a Thursday afternoon, showed us the house and grounds and then went with me to put our boat in the water and take the truck/trailer back to the house. The only con's (or pro's depending on how you view things) was no cellphone service and it is a bit of a drive to any town. The golf cart was wonderful for getting our stuff from the vehicles to the door of the house as well as getting us from the house to the boat dock.
Thank you for your kind remarks relating to your recent stay. I strive to insure that your visit is hassle free and enjoyable. Please come back next season.
Very enjoyable time.
Very nice cabin, very clean and quIet area. We’d stay there again.
Thanks Guy, it was a pleasure to meet you and your family.
We had a good time
This is a nice cabin, we enjoyed our stay but we had several issues that keep me from giving 5 stars. The freezer was full of stuff so we were unable to use, the countertops were full of items so we had to utilize the floor, a lot. The grill burners were rusted out and plates dirty and rusted and popped rust, spent an hour or 2 cleaning so we could use it. Poison ivy everywhere, could not venture off the path to get firewood. The bed in the master was nice, having 3 beds and baths was also nice but beds in kids room were very uncomfortable.
Thanks for your positive comments and items needing attention. There was another freezer in the laundry room. Poison ivy has been removed. Bunk beds are not conducive to comfortable sleeping accommodations. Will see how they might be approved. Hope you will give us another try.
Nice but not what we expected
Our trip was nice, we make the best of everything however the property was not what we expected or were lead to believe. The owner is great, no issues there yet the property is a bit run down depending on what your expectation is. If I was going fishing with a bunch of guys for a week, its perfect, above expectations. If I am traveling with my family for a week, it was less than expected. First off, major bug issues. There are several hornets and wasps in the screened in porch. We also had a handful in the house. The owner has cans of Raid placed all over the place for a reason. Ticks, major tick issue. We found over a dozen on our dog and some on the kids during the week and we spent very little time outside on the property. "Dragon Flyies" Im not sure what to call them, but they look like smaller dragon flies. There were thousands of them each night around the property especially at the base of the walkway towards the water, seriously thousands. One morning they were all dead at the base of the walkway and they smelled like death. Worse than death to be honest. We have rented in the area before and never seen this. I mean the smell of DEATH and with that smell of death came a massive amount of flies eating those thousands of dead whatever they were. Walking to the pier became disgusting.
The home is clean, no issues there but it is very cluttered with personal items of the owner, makes you feel a little uncomfortable with pictures of another family all over the house tons of the owners personal property, other peoples food in the fridge, someone else's clothes in the closets, etc. In my opinion this is not a rental property, it is a family owned property that they rent out when they are not using it, there is a difference. Again, its clean and nice but It just was not what we were expecting.
You cannot swim off the property in the creek. The water is very dirty, terrible algae. Rather gross. The property needs some major landscape care and some minor repairs to the porch and pier. Again, depending on what your expectation is, it could go either way. My family left a day early cause we had enough of the hornets, ticks and the smell of death. We did make the best of the trip and had a great time while out on the water but the home, for our expectation was less than we expected.
Sorry you were disappointed in my property. Yes there are personal things around. It is my second home that I share with others. over 60 families have stayed at my house and unfortunately your family was the only one with negative comments. The bugs you referred to are May flies. They hatch and die in a very short period of time. Turning off the dock light would have solved the problem. I think you were expecting Lake Michigan, not the Cumberland River. You had my phone number to call if you had any problem. You did call in reference to the golf cart, which was low on fuel. I came over and took care of that.. I directed you to places to swim and eat,
So sorry you were less than satisfied. You were my first and hopefully last dissatisfied guest. Thank you fir your observations.

I built this lake house in 2005 and have enjoyed it with family and friends.
We are not using the Lake House as much do to grandchildren's involvement is various activities that we attend. The house has a easy, casual feel, and I am sure you will enjoy your stay at our Cabin On Goose Creek.
I am close by if you should have any problems, and in most cases, be there to welcome you and show you around the area.
