Beautiful cottage, fantastically equipped: perfect for a family weekend on the West coast of Ireland
My wife and our two daughters (12 & 13) stayed here for three nights towards the end of October. We would definitely recommend it. The cottage is located in a quiet location with fine views at the rear. The description of the cottage is spot on and the helpful tips from the owner on where to go and what to see were very useful. Kilkee and Kilrush are close by with a large supermarket and smaller shops easily accessible in both towns. We found a Monday night in October a bit tricky to find somewhere nice to eat but Kellys Seafood and Steak restaurant in Kilrush was a great find. We also had fish and chips from the chippy (not on the same night) in the main square in Kilrush. Good quality but the £/€ exchange rate helped us use a few more Euros than we had thought. All in all a great break. Thank you.
I am delighted that you enjoyed your stay and that you liked the cottage so much. It is great to know that our guests found the cottage welcoming and comfortable. Thank you very much for your lovely comments. We would love to welcome you back.
Relaxing rural retreat in a wonderful setting
We arrived at this deceptively spacious cottage and were utterly delighted with it. 4 good bedrooms and 3 bathrooms, everyone in our party had their own space.
We were met by the owners representative who gave us a warm welcome and had a tea tray ready for us - a lovely touch.
This is the best equipped cottage we have visited - it had everything you needed. The views out of the back of the property were breathtaking - the Shannon Estuary; the Dingle Peninsular; fields and mountains in the distances.
This cottage is off the beaten track which we loved. There are no shops or pubs/restaurants within walking distance, but it is a great area for cycling and walking along the single track roads.
At the end of the lane is the creek where we went crabbing - catching lots, as well as skimming rocks. It is also great for swimming and playing racket sports on the walled court. You can also have a picnic on the stone tables and benches with a great outlook.
While in County Clare we visited the Burren which was spectacular, the Aillwee Caves, the Cliffs of Moher, Ennis for the Fleadh, Scattery Island, Kilrush, Vandeleur Walled Gardens (excellent cake and hot chocolate), Kilkee and bodyboarding at Lahinch.
The fish and chips at Kilkee were outstanding (beautiful fresh fish that melted in the mouth). The Long Dock at Carrigaholt was fabulous - excellent food and friendly staff.
The best part of our holiday other than the wonderful cottage was the hospitality we received from everyone we met. An amazing holiday with our 13 year old saying it was the best yet!
What a wonderful review! I am so pleased that you all liked the cottage and West Clare so much. You certainly did a lot during your stay and got to know and love the Loop Head Peninsula and West Clare. We love the area and are always happy to know that our guests had a good holiday and enjoyed the hospitality of this beautiful part of Ireland. Thank you all and please come back.......you were lovely guests!
Cozy and comfortable stay in a pastoral setting
We arrived to a cozy cottage that felt warm and inviting after a long trip to Ireland. The cottage is nicely appointed and feels like home. It is nicely appointed with beautiful rustic furniture and inviting linens. It was very clean and comfortable. Access to the cottage was easy and a tea service was set when we arrived which made for a welcoming touch. The home is very spacious inside - more than enough room for a family. We enjoyed a peat fire in the fire place as we took in the pastoral setting around us. The cottage is surrounded by farms and pastures but it is in a small development of similar cottages. Don't be put off by the narrow road to get to the cottage - the one track road is part of the charm of this place. The estuary is a minute walk down the road which supplies lovely views and a great place for tranquil walks along the shore. On our first day there, we were greeted by a stray group of a dozen calves who had wandered on to the rocky beach. With the help of a local, we helped to herd them back to their farm. What a great experience for our family and a terrific welcome to Ireland. Kilrush and Kilkee are very short and easy drives away where you can dine or purchase groceries. Both lovely areas to explore. Sheila, the owner was lovely to work with throughout the rental process and made sure our visit was exceptional. We would love to come back and we whole heartedly give this rental a positive endorsement. Thank you for a fabulous stay!
Wonderful review! I am delighted that you all had such a good stay at Querrin and that you experienced the truly authentic Ireland......calves included! We are very glad that you found the cottage comfortable and spacious. You will all be most welcome back....you were lovely guests!
The perfect retreat!
We are city folk, we wanted to escape the city for a couple of weeks and found Querrin Creek. The house is spacious, spotlessly clean and really has everything you need. We brought our own food but also ate out quite a bit as it is perfectly situated in between all the small towns. Lots of great eateries and charming pubs. The addition if a squash court close by, both kept the children happy and tired! As a family we lived this house, a perfect escape to country living with all the mod cons you would want. Looking forward to returning with and without the children.
We are absolutely delighted that you all enjoyed your Autumn break so much! Delighted also that you found the cottage so clean, comfortable and welcoming. You will be very welcome back but with and without the children..... You were perfect guests!
A walkers paradise on the WIld Atlantic coast
A group of friends and I, all walkers headed to Querrin Creek at the end of September last year to spend a week walking and exploring the magic of the Wild Atlantic Way. We planned a different venue every day, so Querrin Creek was the perfect location. We were met by Patricia, the housekeeper who could not have been more friendly and helpful throughout our stay. The cottage was the perfect size for the six of us, it was spotless and oh so comfortable after our long days trekking. We were lucky enough to have the most beautiful sunsets over the bay for our evening barbecue and few glasses of wine.
We walked to Loop Head Lighthouse along the cliff edge on the Wild Atlantic Way. We spent a day exploring Kilkee along the magic Georges Head and then headed to the Diamond Rocks and finished with a swim in the famous Pollock Holes. Our day walking in the Burren was spectacular and there is no shortage of cosy bars where you can toast your feet on an open fire, eat wonderful fresh seafood and have a bit of traditional music thrown in.
The owner had supplied plenty of information on all the local things to do and see, and we all agreed we could have spent another few days there, but left with wonderful memories of West Clare.
