2 Bedroom, 1 Bathroom, Sunset View
This 2 bedroom, 1 bathroom cabin has a gorgeous view of Daisy Bay. Nestled in the North Woods, on the shore of Lake Vermilion, its interior is homey and warm, and sliding doors open onto a deck that looks over the lake for a perfect view of the sunset. The kitchen is spacious and fully outfitted with a refrigerator, oven/stove, microwave, toaster oven, and coffeemaker.
You'll want to spend most of your time on the lake (it's a great spot for fishing, swimming, and boating), but for those of us who can't quite leave the rest of the world behind, there's cable tv and WiFi.
One bedroom has a queen bed, the other has a full size bed. The sofa is a queen size pull-out. The driveway of this cabin can accommodate one boat trailer. There is a shore station next to the dock. Boats can be put in the lake at Moccasin Point or at Greubens, both of which are very nearby. There are stairs from the parking area to the cabin (see photo) and from the cabin down to the lake (thus the nickname Billy Goat Hill). So bring good knees!
We do NOT have a fire pit, and do not allow outside fires. There is often a high risk of fire, as we are in the woods. We DO provide a charcoal grill for outdoor cooking.
There are loads of attractions and activities in the area-- the Vince Shute Bear Sanctuary, the International Wolf Center, Fortune Bay Casino, shopping in Ely, fishing guides, mailboat rides, hiking, tours of the Soudan Mine, and much more.
This cabin is on the same road as our other two rental cabins. The VRBO numbers for those cabins are 671102 and 678588. The other two cabins are on neighboring lots, and this cabin is one lot away, an easy walk from the other two. If you have a larger group and want to rent more than one cabin, we have special rates.
This cabin is SEASONAL ONLY. It is not available for rent after Sept. 30 or before May 1.

About Sarah Fain
My mom's uncle bought a neighboring property nearly sixty years ago. This stretch of Daisy Bay quickly became our family's favorite vacation spot, and as our neighbors aged or moved away, my mom purchased their cabins so we could host more family and friends in the most beautiful spot on the lake!
Sarah Fain purchased this Cabin in 2002

Great Cozy Cabin on Lake Vermilion
Had a great stay on the lake. Hosts were very accomodating. The cabin was clean and comfortable. The wifi must have been upgraded because it worked great. Hope to be back!
Great location for Musky fishing! The boat lift is also a great addition!
Clean comfortable well equipped
Cabin is in great location. Had boat lift which was a big plus. Had a great relaxing trip.
Clean, Cozy, and Great Location
We were looking for a reasonably price cabin for a late September fishing trip to Lake Vermilion. The cabin was everything it was advertised as. It was clean, comfortable, and very well stocked with dishes and cooking utensils. Having access to the Shore Station boat lift was also a huge plus. With twenty mph winds and rain every day, it was great to get the boat up out of the water! It is conveniently located to the areas we wanted to fish. We are already planning a return trip next spring!
My wife and I enjoyed our stay on this beautiful lake. Although the cabin was older, everything worked well and was comfortable. The owner was amazingly prompt and very courteous with any questions or needs.
Clean, comfortable cabin on the lake
I'm always a bit nervous when renting a lakeside cabin. I don't want a damp smell or critters. This cabin will give you none of these reasons for concern. It is a clean, comfortable cabin that will put you only yards away from the lake. The two bedrooms were comfortable. The kitchen is well-equipped and provided us the means to avoid eating at restaurants for our entire vacation, which is a plus for many reasons. Cable (satellite) TV and a DVD player allowed us to amuse ourselves in the evenings. There was WiFi but the signal was beyond slow and was not of any use at all. Sarah made the canoe and paddle-boat available for our use, which was great! The next time we choose to vacation in northern Minnesota, we will definitely consider staying here.
There are a ton of fun things to do in the Iron Range. From the Wolf Center to the Vince Shute Bear Sanctuary to the Sudan Iron Mine, to shopping on the main street in Ely. There are hiking trails and bike paths, golf courses, mini-golf, and more!
