About Aoibhinn Murphy
We bought this property in 2006. The single storey was completely derelict and the property only had the two upstairs bedrooms suitable for use. The first project was to install a pool in the garden. Then we proceeded to renovate the single storey and bring the property up to a comfortable and habitable house. Every year we try and make some improvement which will enhance your stay at Mas Conte. Last year we attached a pergola to the side of the house so that there is a shaded area for dining. This year we paved the outside terrace with a path leading to the pool. This is an ongoing project and it gives us great joy to read the remarks made in the guest book and any constructive comments are always welcome. We hope that you will enjoy your stay as much as we enjoy holidaying here with our family and friends.

character villa with space and a great pool area for a quiet relaxing time
we had three generations staying in the villa and there is lots of elbow room for everyone. A modern end with air con and the character end. Plenty of space with good bathroom layout, kitchen is a bit cramped with it has all the essentials including two fridges (not that you need to spend much time cooking in there)
The location is great for going out to investigate the local area, visiting beaches or doing absolutely nothing. It is quiet, peaceful, large garden and plenty of toys including archery.
The local bakery supply's great croissants and you get a french lesson throw in.
A must is to visit Chateau du Rey and going for the wine tasting. We cycled using the bikes in the villa and collected the boxes the following day. They whole region has some fantastic wines and the only regret is not experimenting more. The French do keep these wines to themselves and the variety is amassing, but do ask questions and you will get far more out of your visit
The guy that looks after the place for Aoibhinn has a great APP on his phone so language is not a problem. Do clarify the dustbin arrangements as this did confuse us a bit (and where to take them). Neighbours were friendly especially the dogs - just keep the gates shut if you dont want them around.
All the generation got what they wanted from the villa, grandkids learnt to swim, grandparents did very little and parents had lots of activities within easy driving distances

Fantastic family holiday environment for all age groups
With 7 bedrooms and 4 bathrooms we were easily able to cope as a family group of 14 ranging from grandparents to two young toddlers. The pool is one of the best we have ever experienced and the safety fencing and gate removed all the anxieties of having lots of young children next to a pool. BBQ and outdoor eating was fantastic along with all the outdoor space to spread around. All in all a great family friendly option that we thought is first class!
Hi, thanks for the wonderful review you wrote. We are always delighted to hear that as a family everything worked out well for all of you and you had a memorable holiday. Maybe sometime in the future we will see you back here again.
Wonderful break away
We really enjoyed our stay here. The owner was very helpful when I was arranging transport and trying to find out more about the area. The house is very comfortable with lots of space (kitchen space more limited but still has everything you would need). We really enjoyed sitting outside for all our meals (great sized table, we had 9 adults). I'd recommend it particularly for a short break as its near the airport (20 mins in a taxi), and Perpignan (which is lovely). There are two nice villages either side of the house. Its 2km to St. Nazaire (short cycle on cycle track) which had a market on Sat morning and there was a butchers, supermarket, bakery etc. We also walked to Canet village (3km) and had a lovely meal there. Having a car would be better though, we didn't rent one and we needed to book taxis in advance. For us the house was really homely, was ideal for a group and would definitely work for families.
Ideal holiday location and fantastic house
It was our second holiday at Mas Conte which easily housed 15 of us. A great place to stay surrounded by vineyards with everything so close to hand. Lovely beaches and many places to visit. Pool great fun for all ages the alfresco dining is also an added bonus. Spain not too far away only an hour to Roses which is well worth a visit. All in all a lovely venue with plenty of space. Thank you to the Murphy's and Jackie for yet another lovely holiday.
Lovely house with fantastic pool area
Lovely house with fantastic pool area and gardens. We stayed here as a family for two weeks this summer for my parents wedding anniversary. The house comfortably accommodated 9 adults, 4 children and a dog. The location is brilliant to give a peaceful holiday away from the main town yet so close to be able to enjoy the beaches, restaurants and nightlife. We even visited the Spanish down of Figueres and the Dhali museum one evening. The covered seating area outside with large table provided a great place to eat family meals, BBQ and chill out in the evenings. An added bonus was table tennis and play equipment in the garden to keep the children entertained when they weren't in the pool.
We will definitely like to holiday at Mas Conte again! Thanks to the owners who made booking and communication regarding our stay so easy.
Thank you for your lovely review. We are always glad to hear from our guests and we are delighted that your holiday was a success. Indeed we aim to make Mas Conte a location for people to enjoy a holiday no matter what the age group, young or old. We have ourselves ventured into Northern Spain and Mas Conte is ideally located for this. We appreciate the review and look forward to hearing from you again.
Comfortable holiday "Mas" in stunning location
Our first holiday so far south and the property did not disappoint. It was a very comfortable "home from home" and catered for our large family of children and grandchildren and can highly recommend it! The pool was a great hit with all and us oldies enjoyed the swing bed in the shade and the "al fresco" dining was a great added bonus.
As we did not explore the whole area enough we have re-booked for 2016. Whether we do the drive again will need careful consideration however Perpignan airport does seem an inviting alternative as one of the daughters took advantage of it this time and found it very easy being 15 minutes away!

There is a long sandy beach in Canet-en-Roussillon stretching down the coast as far as Collioure. This beach is 5 minutes by car or can be accessed by bicycle or bus. Canet has an abundance of restaurants with nightly entertainment throughout the summer and a lovely promenade the length of the beach. All along the coastline you will find little towns eg. Argeles, Collioure with plenty of Artisan markets, shops for browsing and good food.
Nearest airport - Perpignan 15km
Car hire recommended
St. Nazaire Village - 2 km
Canet Village - 3km
Canet Beach - 5 km
There are bicycle paths to all the above locations and also a bus service.
Canet Village has 3 supermarkets - Lidl, Intermarche and Casino. It also has bars, restaurants, church and a variety of shops and takeaways. Wednesday morning there is a market selling fresh produce and clothes, jewellery, etc. St. Nazaire is much smaller but also has a bakery, small supermarket, cafe and church. Winter activities: The Mas is located within 1hour 30mins from the ski slopes of Les Angles, Font Romeu and Pyrenees 2000 where you can obtain all your necessary ski hire equipment and lift passes. St. Cyprien has a 27 holes international golf course with club house and golf shop. Summer activities: During the summer months there is a whole range of water sports, including sailing, surfing, jet skiing, tele skiing, snorkeling and fishing all along the coast from Leucate to St. Cyprien and white water rafting in the Pyrenees. Fresh fish can be bought daily direct from the fishermen at St. Cyprien. During the summer months there is Petit Train that operates from Canet Village down to the seafront until 12 midnight. There is also a ferry service that can take you down the coast to Coulliere and Argeles. In the Pyrenees you can take the Little Yellow Train through the mountains, visit the beautiful old fortified town of Villefranche de Conflent and also the caves
