About the property

Antique Log Cabin with all modern conveniences. Just 15 miles from Asheville NC

A truly romantic Antique Log Cabin built in 1880. The cabin is very secluded and well appointed. We completely remodeled the cabin, for romantic couples and honeymooners looking to get away from it all. This cabin is near and dear to our hearts as I originally rebuilt it for my wife and I when we were first married. The cabin has the added convenience of Satellite TV, Wi-Fi (DSL), Phone (landline), Full Kitchen, Gas Grill, Washer/ Dryer, Gas Wood Stove and Air Conditioning. Only 15 miles from downtown Asheville but a world away. Book now and prepare to relax.

Unlike many cabins for rent in the area, ours has room to stretch out. The Black Wolf Cabin has a separate kitchen and dining room, a separate living room and a separate bedroom, plus the bonus of the secluded loft. There are also 3 decks and a private pavilion by the creek that give you plenty of space to relax and unwind. The cabin has the added convenience of Satellite TV, Wi-Fi (DSL), Phone (landline), Full Kitchen, Gas Grill, Washer/ Dryer, Gas Wood Stove and Air Conditioning.

About Nicholas

I love the outdoors. It was my dream to live in a cabin in the woods. That dream came true in 1995 when my new bride and I moved into this amazing antique log cabin. I still live in the Big Sandy Mush Community, just 5 miles from the cabin. My background is in rebuilding and renovating houses for over 20 years. I have been in the rental business for 12 years. I have a Bachelors of Fine Arts degree and have shown and sold artwork across the country and my work is in many private collections. You will see my artwork hanging in the cabin.

Nicholas purchased this cabin in 1995

Why Nicholas chose Leicester

My wife and were married in 1995 and I rebuilt the cabin for us to live in and start our life together. After 10 years of living in the cabin we had outgrown it and moved a few miles away. We rented it to people on a yearly basis until 2013 when I completely renovated it once again, with the romantic couples vacation in mind. Since 2013 we have had many guests and outstanding reviews. What my wife and I enjoyed for our first 10 years of marriage we now share with you.

Here are some our our reviews:

From: Queensland, Australia

We recently stayed at Black Wolf Cabin and had a wonderful time exploring the little backroads of the area, it was a great change from the monotony of the freeway. The cabin is extremely well set up and mountain country around it is spectacular. This was the highlight of my two week stay in the South.

From: Melbourne, FL

This is the 2nd time we have been to the cabin and it is such a joy to be there. It has everything you need and is very comfortable and peaceful. We also love sitting in the pavilion next to the babbling creek. In the distance we noticed the farmer also had a llama! It's very close to Asheville so we always walk around the beautiful city and then it's nice to come back and relax. We love this whole area and will definitely book this cabin again sometime in the future. Thank you for sharing your lovely cabin with us!

Hampstead NC

My wife and I adored the comfortable and beautiful cabin. Even when it rained I thoroughly enjoyed laying in the hammock listening to the rain on the roof of the pavilion while the creek roared past the back of the cabin. We made a nice meal on the grill on the deck and slept soundly and comfortably in the cozy cabin. And the picturesque scenery was calming. Thank you for your hospitality! Black Wolf Cabin had everything we needed and more.

From: Marion NC

Cannot express how much I enjoyed my stay at the cabin this past weekend. It was so beautiful.

What makes this cabin unique

From our many excellent reviews it seems our customers fall in love with the cabin. It is just so peaceful and quiet it helps wash away stress. It was our wish to share this romantic dream with others and now it has become a reality. When you step through the door you are stepping back in time when things were made by hand. All the while having all the modern conveniences at hand such as DSL, Satellite TV, Phone, Full Kitchen with Dish Washer, Full Bathroom with Washer and Dryer, Grill, King Sized Bed, 3 Decks, a Pavilion with Hammock and Rocking Chairs and your own Private Stream. All of this just 15 miles from Asheville, NC

I was preparing a weekend getaway for my partners birthday. What better than an escape to North Carolina to Biltmore Estate Christmas lights and a trip to Chimney Rock. We are happiest in peaceful settings without lots of people so I wanted to find the perfect place to stay. I spent 8 hours researching cabins and lodges and I came back to Black Wolf's site again and again. The story behind the cabin was so beautiful that I knew it was the place. The look on Jason's face when we arrived at the cabin let me know it was definitely the place for us. We just got home to NH 2 hours ago and we keep joking we should get back on the plane to go back to the cabin. I thank you for sharing something so precious with so many. The place just radiates love and serenity. We will be back in 2014 for sure.

Happy Holidays! (to everyone else - don't hesitate, just book)

We were there for my son's wedding, so we didn't spend a lot of time at the cabin. The location was perfect for us. Also, not too difficult to find but still very private. Pretty amazing what renovations he has done to this cabin. Very cozy, maybe need to think about a new mattress.

Great cabin

  • 5 of 5

The cabin was perfect for our needs for a quiet weekend. There is a brook "babbling" not 10 steps from the back porch. And yes, that big pile of sticks and branches next to the driveway halfway up from the road is an occupied beaver lodge. Saw our furry neighbor twice. NItpick? There is a rooster somewhere a little further up the mountain that has no idea how to tell time. Be sure to read the history of the cabin in the informational binder on the desk.

Had a pleasant and beautiful stay !

  • 5 of 5

We had a pleasant and relaxing stay. Awesome views from the cabin. Nicholas was a very responsive host , I had couple of concerns after reaching the cabin he addressed them very quickly. Perfect for couples. Only thing is if you are planning to cook the pans are bit old and strached and grill tools are bit used.

Beautiful cabin, Gorgeous mountains, very private

  • 4 of 5

My partner and I had a wonderful, short trip to the area and stayed in the cabin for 2 nights. We enjoyed it thoroughly. The location is fantastic and so is the property. I imagine that as Spring approaches it will only get better.

We had some minor issues with re-locking the door and dealing with the fact that there aren't blinds on the windows in most of the rooms. Otherwise, though, I can't recommend it enough.

Owner's Response: Thank you so much for you excellent review! We are very happy that you had such a good time at the cabin. We do have blinds in all the bedrooms and the bathroom but we do not have them in the dining room or living room, the cabin is so secluded we have never found the need to block all the windows. To re-lock the deadbolt on the exterior door all you need to do is push the top button. Thank you once again for staying at the cabin and if you are ever back this way we would love to have you back!

This cabin has it all it and was originally built in the 1880's. It is located in the Big Sandy Mush Community. Little has changed in Sandy Mush in the last 200 years. The countryside is dotted with antique churches and farms and that is what makes it so special, it is a throwback in time. The cabin was completely renovated with all the modern conveniences. It is just 15 miles from Asheville, NC but very secluded on maturely landscaped property. There are small waterfalls on the creek that runs right in front of the cabin and pavilion. The cabin is just 21 miles from the Biltmore Estate and 23 miles from Asheville Outlets mall. It is close enough to Asheville to have everything within easy reach but secluded enough so you feel that you are in your own slice of heaven.
