Lovely, cozy cottage with great views
Beautiful, cozy cottage where you feel like you’re in a family home. I especially loved the textiles and pops of color around the house. A great location for exploring Hadrian’s Wall, with beautiful views in a quiet hamlet.
Melinda and her guests were lovely people to host. All communication was friendly and prompt, the house was looked after well and was left very clean and tidy at the end of their stay, I would recommend Melinda to any host and also welcome her and her family back any time.
We thoroughly enjoyed our stay. The house was exactly as expected and just what we needed.
Even better than the description
The old post office has been beautifully and sensitively restored. When you see the photos of what it used to be, it us almost impossible to believe that it is the same place. The conservatory is a great place to sit and look out over the surrounding landscape; we had a stunning sunset over the Solway Firth. Lots of places to visit nearby, not just Hadrian's Wall but other attractive small villages and lots of sweeping views. Our only problem was the light in the bedroom in the morning but we had brought our sleep masks.
Lovely, well equipped and quirky property
Great propert, great hosts, lovely location.
Everything exactly as described.
Lovely lovely property. Will definitely go again.
Great place to stay
We absolutely loved our stay at the Plough! The cottage is bright, airy, clean, spacious, and comfortable, with many preserved traditional elements and modern touches at the same time. The location is very convenient for exploring Roman history, Lake District and even venturing into Scotland. We enjoyed our vacation in Cumbria very much and would like to thank the owners, Katie and Chris, for letting us stay in their beautiful cottage.
