About Ray and Jacky Tarleton
Ray used to be a head teacher and Jacky taught English. We bought the apartment as a holiday home because we love the variety of Nice - sea, city, museums and restaurants galore. We are also both opera fanatics so a home in Avenue Auber, next to Rue Verdi and Rue Rossini, around the corner from Place Mozart was irresistible - especially when the estate agents told us what a desirable area this is. Because of family commitments, we are unable to spend as much time in Nice as we would like. Until that changes, we like to share the pleasure of our apartment with others, so that they can also enjoy the delights of Nice.

Why Ray and Jacky Tarleton chose Thiers
The area is convenient for everything. You don't need a car. Links to the airport and local destinations are easy. We use the airport bus (6 Euro and a 20 minute ride) to get here and then chill out for as long as we can stay.
What makes this Apartment unique
We love the bright sunny mornings on our balcony. We draw down the sun canopy and enjoy coffee. The air is so clear it's no wonder so many Impressionist came here. At midday, we visit the nearby boulangerie or a local café for lunch and then go on to the Promenade des Anglais to read or swim. The sea is deep azure blue with warm currents so the season for swimming is a long one from April to October. There are concerts, operas and musical events at the Opera House, in the parks and on the Promenade. The Nice Carnival is held in February each year and there are fireworks on Bastille Day. At Christmas there are many interesting decorations, a Ferris Wheel and the oyster and champagne bar. If we're feeling energetic, we take a bus or train to explore Monaco, Cannes, Antibes or Italy. The choice is endless. We have full internet access so can listen to UK radio or read the papers online on our lap tops. Our TV system has multiple channels to relax to in the evenings - unless we are meeting friends, eating at one of the many restaurants in the area, or seeing films in English (VO-version originale) in the local cinemas.

Fantastic apartment, fabulous location
Beautifully appointed accommodation in a perfect French building. So much better than a pokey hotel room, the apartment is very spacious and has everything you could need to make it a home from home. Many extra touches such as beach mats and Ray and Jacky’s books and DVDs add to the overall enjoyment of the apartment. You are just a stroll away from local supermarkets that provide everything you could need. The location is perfect for all modes of transport taking you to wherever you desire. You will be hard-pressed to find such good self-catering accommodation in Nice. Celine is the on-site contact who is very friendly as was the pre visit email contacts from Ray and Jacky giving you all the assurance you need. We would highly recommend this sunny holiday home. Thank you, Deb and Paul Kane
Perfect guests and we look forward to their return.
Beautiful cozy flat!
This flat is well located to walk to any of the sites in Nice as well as the train station.
We arrived from Canada just in time to experience the first snowfall in 8 years! :(
There is some hustle and bustle at all hours of the night so if you are a light sleeper bring earplugs as I did and it solved the issue.
There are many great restaurants and grocery stores close by!
Thank you to Ray and Jacky! We'll be back hopefully for better weather!
Do come again and enjoy the sun!
Beautiful apartment in a beautiful city
This was our first visit to Nice and we weren't disappointed! The apartment was very tastefully decorated, fully equipped, spotlessly clean and ideally located. Nice is a very beautiful city with a lovely, friendly atmosphere and lots to do and see in the area. We had a fabulous holiday! Nice has totally captured our hearts and we'd love to return - hopefully to stay in this lovely apartment! We highly recommend both!
We look forward to welcoming our guests back again in the future.
Our third stay in this lovely apartment. That really says it all!!
The apartment is exceptionally clean. Delightful balcony. Also, it's well placed for station, prom or shops! Celine, who greets you, is so helpful and lives nearby if any help or advice is needed. Always keen to help guests or arrange a taxi if required. She's a delight.
Perfect guests who will always be welcome.
Great apartment - great location
Comfortable apartment . Sunny and airy .Good standard. Quality kitchen , bathroom and furnishings. Lovely balcony . Great location, good area away from the bustle with good restaurants on doorstep . Very near train station, buses, old town, sea front, 5 mins walk . Friendly owners and local contact Celine, very welcoming. Would recommend without hesitation for a great holiday in Nice and surrounding coast.
Always happy to hear our guests have enjoyed their stay and thank them for their recommendation.
What a joy it was to stay in Ray and Jacky's apartment -- very spacious, well appointed, excellent location, even niceer than the description. The apartment is full of natural light and we loved having the balcony, especially for a late afternoon or nighttime glass of wine. The place was spotless and beautifully painted. Furniture and decor were attractive, functional and smart for travelers. After 10 days in much smaller hotel rooms, having this amount of space AND the convenience of a washing machine was great for us. Celine is a gem and could not have been more helpful, although the apartment is set up so intuitively, we could almost have walked in with no assistance. We loved Nice and should we revisit, we would love to stay in the Tarleton apartment again. Thanks -- Stanley and Ellen, Los Angeles, California
We enjoyed reading this charmingly written review and hope our American guests will return.
