Lourmarin is considered to be one of the most attractive villages in the South of France and is located in the middle of the Luberon national park with stunning views over the Alpilles mountain range. The village has a wide variety of high quality and picturesque restaurants and cafes as well as boutiques selling local produce and is overlooked by a Renaissance chateau which often hosts cultural events such as art exhibitions and music recitals. The village also has a charming market on Fridays.

The Mediterranean coast with beautiful towns such as Cassis, Nice, Antibes and Cannes are all easily reachable if a change of scene is required.

The historic towns of Aix en Provence and Avignon (both with TGV stations linking into the Eurostar network) are both 40 minutes drive away. Marseille (with its airport providing direct flights from other parts of Europe) is also 40 minutes by car.

Charming Provence home!

  • 5 of 5

It was a dream come true to be in a charming village home in Provence with our two adult daughters. We fell in love with Lourmarin and to be living right around the corner from wonderful cafes and little boutiques was perfect. We were met by Grethe who showed us all the features of the home--and gave us some great suggestions of restaurants. The rooms were very spacious with lovely furniture. We had perfect sunny days and enjoyed coffee and fresh pastries every morning in the charming, very private courtyard -

and had our wine and cheeses there in the evening surrounded by the blooming roses.

To others considering this as a vacation rental you will not be disappointed. Everyone in Lourmarin was friendly and helpful. There are many places to enjoy a great meal. You can easily explore this whole region from this location by car and then you can come" home" to this very special place.

We can't wait to come back to Lourmarin with our family.

A piece of Paradise in a magical town

  • 5 of 5

From the moment we turned into the little road our stay was magical! The home was spacious, beautifully decorated and so clean. We spent hours drinking wine on the terrace and enjoying the little splash pool. The bedrooms are beautifully sized, bathrooms perfect and the kitchen was lovely to use with all the mod cons anyone could want! The main streets of the village are literally around the corner! And it is such a lovely village! Thank you for having us to stay- we couldn't have had a more magical and special time!

Lovely and comfortable house

  • 5 of 5

We spent a week here and really enjoyed this beautiful house. It's in a quiet location in a lovely village. Lourmarin has a small producer's market and another larger market day. There are several nice shops and restaurantst too. The courtyard for the house is very private and there's lots of space indoors and outdoors for a family. The kitchen is well equipped and the towels, duvets and pillows were all good quality. Overall, it was a great home base for exploring the area and for day trips to the sea. Highly recommended.

Returning soon!

  • 5 of 5

My husband and I stayed at this wonderful village house at the end of April this year. Although the photographs posted on the site looked nice we are always a little apprehensive when renting a holiday property for the first time, so we were delighted to find that the photographs on this web site in fact do not do the place justice and it is in fact even better than it looks! It is one of the few places we have stayed where we felt immediately "at home". Admittedly we have stayed in Lourmarin on many previous occasions so we know the area but we have never stayed in a village house. Although the house is in the heart of the village it is incredibly quiet and peaceful. The courtyard area is enclosed and because it is up a few steps and down a little side street is completely private and not at all overlooked. We were extremely fortunate with the weather and we even got to sunbathe in the flower-filled courtyard on the thoughtfully provided sun loungers. The house has been beautifully renovated (only last year) and furnished and really (in parts) has the feel of a boutique hotel rather than a rental property. The kitchen appliances are all top quality and the house is extremely well equipped and comfortable. It really is hard to fault it. Although there were only two of us we did not feel like we were rattling around in a huge house because of the clever design. However, there is ample room for 6 adults and 2 children should you wish to go with a larger party. For those who have never been to Lourmarin, it is a great place. Look it up on the internet and you will find that it is a picture postcard Provencal village, with lots of restaurants, bars and shops, all two minutes walk from the house. On Friday there is an amazing weekly market in the heart of the village. We enjoyed our stay so much that we are returning in August when we hope to try the "bassin" (plunge pool) which I am sure will be wonderful in the heat of the summer. I was intending to wait until after our second visit before posting a review but finding myself with a spare moment in front of the computer decided that there is no time like the present!

the most wonderful holidays in Provence

  • 5 of 5

Last september,we spent two weeks in this lovely house. We often were in Provence, but in this village and in this house we spent the most wunderful holidays. We felt welcome and fine. The house is decorated with a lot of love. All was like in the description an the house was very clean. Rose, the mother of the owner, was lovely and took care of us. We recommend the house to all nice people.
